  1. er......yes...... he is nice..... i can understand how themal wrap would work and would be able to retain heat. With ceramic coating, i dont really understand, because isnt the coating also highly aluminum based? and therefore wouldnt that conduct heat? I have also been told that it is quite possible that thermal wrapping causes stainless steel to become very brittle. is ths true?
  2. damn! so all the ones in australia are personal imports?
  3. is the ek9 type r an elligible import?
  4. Cheers sebastion, Its true, These are very cheap for what they are! Cams and lifters..... Delivered!
  5. Wow! really!? Thats a huge difference! Who usually does the Ceramic coatings for you? There are so many companies that do it. One of the most well known ones is HPC hi performance coatings. I went with a company called Competition coatings. I have heard the HPC stuff is really good, and doesnt scratch or come off as easily like the CC stuff. However, HPC is VERY VERY expensive. To do the hks manifolds alone was in the region of 700 dollars! Which is quite a bit more than what CC charges! Can you tell me if one ceramic coating is better than the other? http://www.competitioncoatings.com.au/ versus http://www.hpcoatings.com.au/ Hahaha, I can always pass you his number if you would like to ask him any questions "personally"........ Seriously though, if you wanted him to screw.............. er......... put something........ er.........assemble something for you, im sure he'd be happy to help! Right DAZ?
  6. Really!? I still find it hard to swallow that a thin coat of what looks like paint can make such a big difference! how does this compare to heatwrap? i have heard that heat wrap can make stainless steel brittle after a while. Is this true? And there are 2 types of ceramic coat on offer, the silver type, which is less heat resistant and then the black type which is supposedly the better coating. The black coating is SO much more expensive! I just hope that it is money well spent. What do you use Paul and why did you choose it over the other ie ceramic over heatwrap or vice versa? I was offered to have it done to the port chambers too. but i had to draw the line somewhere. i can see the logic in it, but there was a lot of mucking around having the head go between the the coating place and the head builder. Should i have done this too? Can anyone share their experiences with ceramic coating in the head?
  7. Turbo housings, HKS exhaust manifolds, and Tomei dumps are back from being ceramic coated. They were done by Competition coatings. The Black coating is quite expensive (and comes off if you sneeze at it!) but is supposed meant to retain heat better. Up to 30% reduction in underbonnet temps! Sceptical though...... but we'll see........ All of these parts were ceramic coated inside and out. Yes i asked the question if it can flake off....... "no possible damage" was the answer.....
  8. At this stage of the build, I was overseas, so there weren't many pictures taken whilst dazza did the work. The extended pickup was fitted and the sump went on, with Hi Octane sump extension. We will get new nuts and bolts to secure this part of the sump as the standard ones were not suitable. I also had a -12 fitting welded on to the side of the extension for an oil return.
  9. All the hoses and brackets etc needed to bolted up to the plenum. I used mostly new parts for this as most of the hoses and clamps etc were starting to deteriorate (very hard etc and clamps were rusty) The new throttle body bracket and throttle position sensor fitted New water tube and hoses. Dazza went to all the hardware and nut and bolt shops and couldnt find a locator dowel to match. His brilliance once again shines when he uses the sleeve off a dynabolt (cut down to size of course) and viola! PERFECT fit! Project bomberman back on track! Attaching the hoses to the pipes and tubes. On with the plenum! Attach the throttle body arms Bare blocks dont have this little fitting either. New hoses and clamps for the underside of plenum AAC valve fitted and new hoses and clamps where possible. Some of the Clamps and hoses were reused because some of them were not in production anymore! knock sensors fitted as well. More hoses! Majority of these were changed for new ones. Water and air temp sensors were fitted. The gasket kit provides a new copper gasket for the air temp all holes were covered with silicone plugs and sleeves throughout the build. Make sure you put on the slinger plate (not sure what its called) first. Thats what they called it on the FAST cd! The sensors installed
  10. Ok, status update. Got up to the stage where we can put on the Nismo plenum. But when we were putting it on, we noticed that some of the locator dowels were missing. Unfortunately these are part of the Throttle body assemblies and therefore cannot be ordered separately! Anyway, whilst dazza was thinking about what to do, we continued with the baffles on the bottom of the girdle.
  11. thats what i originally thought! anyway, im glad thats cleared up. hmmm.... time for an update....

  14. yes thats right. thanks nick. the back plate on the pump is black, and not black from oil. the oil on the back plate and over the pump is from factory. its to stop the gears inside rusting. it is not engine oil. Pump is brand new and never fitted. it still has the plastic covering the oil holes.
