  1. +1 2860RS is a great choice for RB20 street driven .
  2. herm there was a thread similar to this earlier this year from memory. Sadly you can't search for 3 so i'm not sure how to help you.
  3. Should stop hijacking a very interesting thread now (carry on sir with the best gt-r build i've seen in ages ). Anyway yes, VVEL does everything VVT and VVL did except it can control lift all the way to zero. With a VVEL setup you don't need cold start or a throttle body . straight from wiki: "Nissan VVEL was first introduced to the US market in late-2007 on the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe sporting the new "VVEL" VQ37VHR Nissan VQ Engine (VQ37VHR motor specs: 11.0:1 CR, 95.5mm bore, 86mm stroke, 7500rpm redline). VVEL variable valve timing is now also used in the smaller VQ25VHR engine seen in the Infiniti G25 and the VK50VE V8 engine from the Infiniti FX50. A rocker arm and two types of links open the intake-valves by transferring the rotational movement of a drive shaft with an eccentric cam to the output cam. The movement of the output cam is varied by rotating the control shaft with a DC stepper motor and changing the fulcrums of the links. This makes the continuous adjustment of the amount of the valve's lift (e.g., the amount of intake opening), during the intake valve event in the four-stroke cycle, possible. C-VTC and VVEL together control the valve phases and its valve events, allowing free-control of the valve timing and lift. This results in more efficient airflow to the cylinder, significantly improved responsiveness, optimizing the balance between power and environmental performance."
  4. Just to clarify, personally i'm excited by those HR engines which feature VVEL (From what I remember VQ37hr and newer), VVL is cool but no where near as exciting (or new ).
  5. In for the next group buy and that duct looks the goods!
  6. I'll grab the exhaust posted to Melbourne (post code 3150).
  7. ya i'm waiting for some response on why I received a DNS for the last course when I definitely entered it (and the battles directly after that).
  8. it is my understanding that VQ35hrs out of 350zs do NOT have variable valve _LIFT_ but the VQ out of the 370z does (VQ37hr) and any other VQs that are hr from the new series. No idea why nissan called the old vq35hr that, it is very different to the VQ35de, but the valve lift is what makes HRs _THE BOMB_ in my book . PS the new luxary infiniti M56 has a 5.6 litre V8 with valve lift.. get that one VK56hr or something . Just to clarify, i'm not talking about variable valve timing, that shiz is old news.. if you haven't heard about variable valve lift look up BMW valvetronic. Anyway I totally agree a v-configuration AWD gt-r is the go, especially an R32 . Even nissan mucked around with the idea before they released the R32! If I ever had to ditch the 26 in my 4-door i'd be going VQ30DET or VQ37HR
  9. Actually this is a great idea.
  10. As above, common problem.. I've had this on my GTS4 as well.
  11. Who do I pm now regarding result questions?
  12. I have one too grats. Not worth anything special though, probably about the same as a manual gts-t. 6-8g depending on nick?
  13. Totally sounds like a stock RB20 tune (and my horribly tuned RB26 before I got a remap) with a bigger turbo on the cold start map. I have this too on an auto RB20 with GT2860rs) and the car hates driving at anything less than 4000 rpm. Checked with tuner and found that all parameters were safe. If you plug Consult in you will notice timing is heavily retarded during cold start at low revs. Let the car warm up and it will advance the timing and run fine. This is the stock map, there are two solutions.. if you can live with putt putting around on cold start (the first thing I have to do in the morning is go up a large hill.. so I go up at about 30km/h) ignore it. Otherwise get your local reputable tuner to remap (cold start on my 26 is almost imperceptible now).
  14. vac leak, AYC/AIC, ATMO bov. 9 times out of 10.
  15. Epic. Correct terminology to describe this DECA. Yea Helmet and jumper is my partners who flaked in the afternoon .
  16. You're wrong ash. Layouts were brilliant.
  17. Oops some muppet left a green motorbike helm and a blue jumper under a tree in the carpark... me. Anyone happen to pick this up or know where it wound up?. Also had an awesome DECA possibly the most entertaining to date thanks to everyone for being so friendly and enthusiastic. Really puts you in a great mood to spend stupid amounts of money on the things. ps. that white 33 gtr was totally completely and utterly off the charts awesome, I wish I didn't find this out 2 minutes before I had to leave.
  18. Yeah another three aiming to be at Wallan at this time .
  19. Crazy crazy crazy.... but fun .
  20. Would come dependent on work not hating on me.
  21. Erm following this logic, why would you buy a soarer when you could have bought a 300zx? it had an 11 year innings.
  22. Can't be arsed reading back. Mohsen did you happen to have a guy in an S14 wave at you over the weekend? ps. how was GOR cruise
  23. Yup that's precisely why all the race teams pulled it out as a matter of course. They weren't real drivers. Also why Nissan discontinued it.
  24. Did I read this correctly, you want to know whether unplugging the airflow meter will stop the car idleing? Usually yes.
