  1. Last time I checked, NBN was one of the few good bits of policy to come out of labor.
  2. Does the oil cooler come with a thermostat?
  3. Ya i'm getting confused trying to follow this . Find the part number on the ECU.. match it up to this thread -> http://deniliquinsportingcarclub.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58:rb-ecu-part-numbers&catid=35:nissan-skyline-information&Itemid=9 Secondly I believe to run different autos you need the associated Auto computer. It isn't straight forward and most people don't even bother trying to swap autos to later models, but I have seen cars that say it has been done (as in tiptronic into R32). Therefore it is better to rebuild what you have (which will probably cost upwards of 3G). Furthermore because of the auto, usually you are locked into the Nissan computers. However some ECUs can easily be remapped using Nistune, once you find out exactly which ECUs you have that run the car, try and use one that can be Nistuned, that will save a lot of headaches.
  4. The RB30 is a pretty good start I would have thought .
  5. Sorry to totally disagree with everyone so far.. but as a long time owner of a gt-r(ish thing) and a gts-t or two, I would really suggest steering clear of the gt-r. Awesome car but not good as a first performance car.. they really are very expensive to maintain and seem a lot more drama prone than they sedate cousins. Any gts-t or gt-t is a much better option to get started in the skyline scene in my view and when you grow tired of that by all means get the gt-r .
  6. AFAIK no 180s came with VCT, yes they have a black top engine, no it isn't VCT.
  7. Where in S.E.? i'm happy to help (for the right price ) and have 044 intank .
  8. I'm also freaken high off all those fumes baby... yeaa.
  9. can someone with an RB20 tell me which line off the manifold is the return and which is the intake. I pulled it all off to replace lines and filter, and forgots . My guess is the fuel filter (in) is the top line on the manifold.
  10. Can someone buy me an M56 infiniti?
  11. http://www.caltex.com.au/ProductsAndServices/Pages/BioFuels.aspx I also a read a commit to something like 400 pumps across australia by the end of 2011. Personally the local just installed an E85 pump so i'm going straight to RB25de+T from an R34 into my spare 32 sedan .
  12. imagine a VK56VD in a gt-r. 300kw from factory, direct variable valve lift.. herm.
  13. another NA 33 p-plater. Drove home next to one of those on saturday.. complete with horrific fibreglass front bar, terrible offset rims. Yamaha sticker across the back windscreen, shopping list down the guard.. and the piece de resistance - GT-R badge ebay copy!
  14. Cold start is there for a very very good reason and there is a good reason why it remains in all modern cars. +1 nistune and a proper tune. My RB26 went from grumpy and sluggish on cold start to almost identical to warm while still preserving the safety margins you need when your oil is 10x thicker.
  15. cleaned AAC - guide in DIY is very good and time estimate a bit longer than it took me. AFM - I'm tossing up doing this -> http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/113284-fixing-your-rb26-afms/page__hl__afm just for kicks, but a lot of work and the possibility of stuffing up water proofing. I just sprayed it down with MAF. Everyone should do this. Air Regulator - DIY Guide makes it sound tough, piece of piss really, mine wasn't bad though.. I suspect this only really needs to be done if you suddenly get issues with high idle. replaced vacuum lines - I didn't do the preshaped wide stuff as that was all in good shape, I only did the narrow 1.5ish mm lines.. 10 minutes work. My lines were all cracking. Made a _Massive_ difference and I suspect was the reason for the stalls. Car is still relearning tune and auto shift points after this and just keeps getting better. Everyone should do this. removed horrific boost gauge vacuum lines - ya. who would have thought just pushing the line inside a t piece with no effort to seal it would cause problems.. really wished I had noticed this before . replaced PCV hoses - Nissan wanted 40 bucks for the line I needed, stuff that.. transmission hose from pirtek fit perfectly and cost me nothing cause it was lying around... I think it would have been worth over 1 dollar if I bought it . reset ECU - complete waste of time unless you want to go through the relearn process or need to for something like idle fiddling. Should also mention, I read somewhere during my trawling for servicing info, a note about always spraying nissan plugs with MAF cleaner if you unplug them.. I have started doing this and it seems to be a very good idea. I think a few plugs were pretty flaky such as into the back of the AAC.
  16. Just the beginning . And mohsen I don't think I need 4 R32s just yet.
  17. I am a massive R32 sedan addict (I have 3) but I have to say R33 series 2 sedans are pimpalicious. In other news I cleaned AAC, AFM, Air Regulator, replaced vacuum lines, removed horrific boost gauge vacuum lines, replaced PCV hoses that were rooted, reset ECU.. and now the RB20 is running like a dream . One of those things you kick yourself for not doing sooner.
  18. Dave has become a fan of Hamish.
  19. Make sure you wrap it in carbon fibre look vinyl first.
  20. Just as another take. I recently got Consult running and it has a perfectly accurate readout of water temp just in case you ever want to confirm / calibrate.
  21. Was talking to a friend re the gearboxes, forgetting AWD for 1 second, even the RWD gearboxes are _totally_ different between different models of getrag, it isn't like you can just swap bell housings with these things.
  22. Just finished setting up and using ECUtalk for my 32 gts-t. Very very nice program and definately recommended. I went the USB cable option he sells to as I don't have any computers with the old serial plug especially not on anything useful such as the laptops.
  23. Old news? http://www.tremek.com/forum/nissan-videos/37844-r32-gtr-2jzgte-awd.html
  24. For an R32 RB20 you don't need to remove half the stuff listed. I just pulled off one side of the 2 small vacuum lines and the larger lines with the T-piece. The only tricky bit is working around the loom which runs over the top over the unit. Oh and dropping the bolts down into the manifold .
  25. Brave person what puts a twin cam 3L RB in and runs a factory tune.
