I did something really stupid and cut the power cables inside the fuel tank to the fuel pump on the plug to the Walbro pump. Given that it has a harness rather than just direct wire on terminals like the Bosch units I had installed in the past I can't see any way to fix it without soldering bare cable which will be inside the tank. The risk of shorting is obviously a very serious problem so I will need to insulate it. Other than put the cable inside a piece of fuel hose, I thought there might be heat shrink that is resistant to fuel. I have found ISO 1817 heat shrink is what I need but I can't find any supplier in Victoria (Bursons, Pirtek and Repco). Any ideas?
In case you didn't know, petrol is very good a dissolving adhesives and breaking down a lot of plastics. I haven't tested the heatshrink I have as to whether it degrades but I am concerned that even after an hour it might not have changed, that doesn't necessarily mean it wont be effected 2 months later.
