Damn does this mean my Gts-4 with RB26 is compeltely legal? or still needs engineer?

One day I was puttering down a fairly large road .. 3 lanes, and some old bloke pulled across three lanes off traffic right in front of me. I had to brake a fair bit (GF had to brace). He then proceeded to drive infront of me at about 25km/h under the speed limit. I dipped my headlights at him cause I wasn't sure what the hell he was doing. He then slowed even more.. down to about 30km/h in a 70km/h section. There was a massive chain of cars behind me. I wasn't too worried because I had to turn right about 20 meters up the road. When I turned off I fanged it to see who this guy was.. some old bloke, he just yelled and abused me (my GF was in the car at the time too.. and he just went right off). He kept going down the road about about 40km/h with all these cars pulling out from behind and going past him. Wierdest thing ever.

haha I have this noise too.. I assumed it was the fuel recirculating.. but it could also be the water pump speeding up. It seems to happen whenever you just start moving or when slowing right down.

I need good mechanic to fix a soarer that is being very dodgy with it's electrics ever since it's last close encounter with another car. Insurance will pay, but I want it done by a quality electrician as soarers are devils when it comes to electrics. Any suggestions?

awesome movie.. lol @ the booing idiotic Australians. I wish the touring car races were still being run . Yawn @ super cars

Some More Pics Of My Work In Progress For Those Interested

I'm currently running a single EF thermo with a big radiator and it goes fine . Was more interested in the specifics which you answered . I wonder does a powerfc have similar thermofan controls? -

I had this problem, I cleaned my AFMs and replaced my sparks and I haven't noticed it since. -

how did you wire the thermos if you don't mind me asking? and what shroud did you use? -
Yup mines the same, sits dead on 1000 atm.

Ohhhh gaskets, there isn't really an easy way to check that is there? I guess I might as well just fork out for a new gasket how much am I looking at? I will have a look at the TPS on monday and if i'm not happy i'll probably do the gasket as I really want my yummy idle back . Incidently it's an R32 GTR (or near enough).
-
Ahh i'm having exactly this problem, the engine also sounds quite rough at low revs with regular pops in the exhaust. It used to idle perfectly at 800rpm.
-
TBH I got my car through them and had no problems at all, it was about this time last year too. Maybe it's just a really busy time for them?
-
I'll put some pictures up as soon as I can get my grubby mitts on a digital camera. Fuel economy hasn't been noticed because my car is back on the road after 3 months (fuel seems to be vanishing ). I have definately noticed an improvement in throttle response (already have lightened flywheel) with rev's picking up even faster and dropping off faster.
-
Cooling is a dangerous thing to fiddle with, I have recently converted to thermos and have had few problems however so far (grasps wood with both hands). There is a little power improvement but that vanishes whenever the fans come on (which seems to be never when the car is moving so far). I did it because my stock fan had turned to rubbish. This is on an RB26, leave the stocky unless you need to change it.

well I just used the thermostat under the radiator switching a relay. It works fine and with the EL falcon fan quickly cools the radiator, and the fans are off again in about 3 seconds. I want to add a bit of hysterisus so i'm going to add a 1 minute timer to it, and I might invest in a lower temp thermostat. Anyway as a temporary measure it worked fine and my car is now running perfectly again. The difference in performance is only slightly noticeable but hardly worth getting excited about .

I use an R32 GTR as a daily, but I have a car I can borrow for large periods of time when I need to take it off the road to service. It's pretty much a given that if you want to use these as dailys you should expect to do a lot of your own work on it. A lot the basic mechanics of the car are getting old, plastics dieing, relays dieing.. that sort of thing, you have to expect this sort of thing to become a problem almost everyday and be aware of any change in your car and be prepared to take it off the road straight away. Long story short, unless you are a nutter you'd probably want a shitter to drive to work in .

Wow ok well I went ahead and wired it up basically along the same lines as what BH_ posted and it worked to some extent. However it seems that when the rad fan circuit is engaged the clutch on the aircon pump does something fancy (I presume it disengages aircon which makes sense given that this circuit is designed as an overheat circuit and the last thing you want when a car is overheating is the aircon). So unless i've missed something here there is no option but to add a new thermostat circuit or remove the overheat circuit and rewire it to my own nefarious purposes. Incidently using a kettle the thermostat switches on around 88+ degrees and stays on for around 3 minutes (although i'm pretty sure this isn't a stock thermostat). Cubes: I assume the circuit you are talking about from jaycar is this: http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?I...eMax=&SUBCATID=

yeee haw that's what I was after, that's exactly the wiring diagram I had come up with on a piece of paper but decided it might be dangerous based on the stock thermo. I will get a new thermostat, what am I asking for and from where? I presume repco or autobahn?
-
Isn't that exactly what I want? But yeah the intial temp that it turns on would be important. Come on I know some of you guys have actually wired these things up.. what are the options here . By the way, EL falcon thermos blow *&^*&^ing shitloads of air lol.
-
hmm well i'm confused about this, I know there are 2 thermostats, one on the intake to the engine and the other at the bottom of the radiator. I have an aftermarket radiator which further complicates things, however I thought the thermostat at the bottom of the radiator was just a temp switch that was triggered at around 86 degrees (or 82 depending on which thermostat you use). I was just planning on running a relay off this to switch the fans. After closer inspection I noticed a relay in the fuse box in the engine bay called "rad fan" and a fuse there as well. I was hoping I could some how use this. I don't really want to wire up another thermostat and leave the current one in if it does nothing.

Can't I just use the stock temp sensor?
-
Yeah I bought an EL thermo fan for my car and am wondering what the best approach to wiring is?
