I bought a 4 door GTS4 with an RB26 so I don't know if I qualify as a GTR owner . Anyway I spent 12000 getting it here + 1000 for compliance (this is of course with the now defunct 15 year rule) 3000 fixing ball joints, brake master cylinder, new clutch and a few minor things (like lights and what not) There is some body work that needs to be done (some chips of paint which might just indicate something worse.. fingers crossed). It definately had a knock on the front which wasn't mentioned when i bought the car (and might have been added after for all I know ). Finally there was rego, insurance, alarm, dyno (yay ben) + another 3000 odd. It does add up but you can get really lucky too . I got a Carbon bonnet and a GTS4 (was advertised as GTS-t heh), engine is 100% perfect (leakdown and compression), nismo LSD is fine, suspension is all good, got a really nice blitz boost controller. Petrol is a biaatch.

Just the things you'd check any car for really, accident repair that sorta thing. Try and get it leakdown tested before you buy too, as this will be a good indicator of engine health. Most of the age related problems with my car were very easily fixed (leaky ball joints and so forth). There are a few guides here (wish I could link ya) that go into detail about looking over a car that you should definately read.

What I don't get.. is why you don't stick with the Q until you're off your P's (or at least well into them...). I would much rather learn in a silvia Q than a GTS-t. Good luck anyway .

Could you give me some more info on the recessed plates biso.. because plenty of guys on nissansilvia.com have come up with all sorts of strange mounts to try and pass. If what you say is true.. that could be very important. A URL would be awesome or something similar , you rock R31 both of ya!

Well as an example of some of the crap that has been going on.. one of his fog lights was broken. Fair enough he got it fixed, brought it back and now they are saying that the foglights should be completely removed.

Hi guys, not me but my mate is having the entire book (seemingly) thrown at him. He owns a 1992 silvia turbo which was bought at the start of the year (with roadworthy etc). Not long after owning the car outright, vicroads sent him a letter asking to inspect the car. He had a boost controller and his exhaust was too loud, but he quickly fixed these problems and got reinspected. Now apparently they have started asking some really odd things, what's more each time he goes back they put some more things down for him to clear. And finally they are suspended his registration. Now basically there is no way now he can get cleared before his rego gets suspended, and what's more they are basically asking for some things that are seriously beyond tight. Some examples include the number plates (too recessed), the STOCK fog lights having to be removed as they are not adr compliant (what the?? how many silvias are there on the road with these foglights?), not having side indicators (what the??). Now throughout this process I have tried to help but this is getting out of control and my expertise (what little there is) and I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this? Thanks for any assistance anyone can give as my mate just wants to get his silvia on the road and enjoy it.. and vicroads seem to be going out of their way to make sure that doesn't happen. Finally he was informed by someone involved in the process that this whole thing has been instigated by the police who are sick of imports not complying.. What the?

at work we only trust post for things less than 100$ value.. because several expensive packages have gone walkies. It is unwise even to use registered mail for very expensive items.

You seperating parts of the GTR front cut? could I get the lights, grill, headunit mounting bits and plugs and the 3 dials?

do you have the audio cradle + wiring harness (both all plugs)? and lights + grill.. you seriously asking 250 each for lights?
