I've never noticed an Astra driver, male or female, that was especially bad at driving.

Twin Turbo Gallardo & An Ams Gtr
Sarumatix replied to scarf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yawn, so bored of hearing this. Quoted above because it's the closest rant but the same boring sods keep saying the same boring things about this (un)boring car. You do realise exactly the same thing has been said about just about every gtr. And then people that actually drive the cars (and have skill) are often repeatedly quoted as saying how it's easy to go fast in it, but just as hard to get that extra speed that makes you 'good' as any other car. While it isn't the same experience as every other car, that doesn't actually take away from the car. Sure it's different to your ideological car, just like a Ferrari or Lambo is, but i'm pretty sure that until you have some skill and have driven all the cars your opinion is fairly irrelevant. Not to mention, looks are in the eye of the beholder. The Lambo is just a rehash of a rehash of a rehash, the GTR is actually something new and different, I apologise for Nissan if that upsets you. Get over it . As a famous driver once commented after getting sick and tired of the same bunch of aussies sook and cry because something new, different, and better had come along: Anyway, I'd much rather the GTR than the Lambo if it were my coin. -
last I heard the 100mm was at seated capacity and fully fueled. Infact it doesnt' even say the ground has to be level. As in, in Victoria, they can fail almost every car for this if they wanted.

Do you have thermofan setup? If not the stock clutch fan can often flex enough to tap the belt usually resulting in a bit of damage to the belt itself and it coming off. This effect usually happens under high power load. I had a lot of problems with this and ended up having to trim the clutch fan blades slightly to stop it happening.

You sir ... win. Except that you don't have it anymore? -
Course.. wouldn't you Mr Jetsetter? Gearbox was cheap enough that more than makes up for flights up and transport back . Also felt like catching up with some friends mind you .
-
ok. ECU is the computer, it controls the engine. A GTR one is good except that because GTRs never came out with automatic gearboxes the ECU will nott talk to the gearbox and hence the gearbox will not know when to shift gears and do magic. Stagea RS Four and X-Four comes with the Automatic gearbox that would fit into a gt-r with little work.

Which aspect in particular do you not follow?

Cowboy has totally summarised my point of view better than I could have . +1.

Cheers for that Info Birds. So it's a reconditioned box now . I reconditioned it just before right .

Quite straight forward except you will need an ECU that can talk to the auto gearbox controller. Most likely candidate for this is a stock ECU with a NissTune remappable ECU board wired in. This leaves you with auto RB20, RB25 and VG30 ECUs of which I suspect the VG ECU would be most straight forward to talk to an otherwise stock RB26. Mechanically it should be quite straight forward as I understand the bell housing and auto housing match. Tail shaft would probably need to be custom I guess. You can source AWD auto gearboxes mated to RBs from Stagea FOUR, Skyline GTS4 and some rarer other models.

i'm a bit unclear about the nature of the smoke you are seeing. Is it white or blueish? does it go after the car has warmed up? From what you've described it is normal condensation. Oil in the places you have mentioned is normal. You took the O2 sensor off while the car was running?? was it up to temp?

Epic work wanting to see a youtube of this in action.

Ya these gearboxes are huge lol. Flew up for the weekend and checked it out from out near Penrith, took it to my brothers house in Glebe, dumped it there and flew home . I can get some friends to load it on but my brother doesn't have a car (heh) so going for a spin to try and spot a pallet is difficult. Even after sourcing one, sawing up a pallet is difficult because I'm in Melbourne, slabs are the order of the day here.
-
ok the quote from those guys was stupidly low . You guys are champions. Next question, anyone know where to get those gearbox sized pallets from?
-
So I bought an R33 gearbox in Sydney. They are large and around 60Kilos. Now I want it in Melbourne. Has anyone had any joy in this area? The names I have been given are: Toll Couriers Please Pack and Send I have a business address to drop off to.

Did any car escape without being fecked? -
Thought I might give an update. Car has been good, just fixed up a few annoyances like the power steering setup and mounted the gauges. I've put some brembos on and 33R rims to clear them. Also transferred a few goodies over to the daily as things get updated .
