  1. I owned a 350GT 2003 model for about 8 years (changed Jan 2022). In that time I remember the following maintenance/issues/repairs, and where I sourced the parts: Ignition coils. The first I got directly from the mechanic no probs. Nissan. The others I went on eBay and got NDK Brake Rotors and Pads. No issue. I changed the pad material because the rims were heavily coated in dust. The new ones had virtually no dust, but the squealed like a banshee when cold. Electric Window winders, both sides. Randomly played up (lightly smacked the side of the door to get them temporarily working), stopped working all art once. I took them out, pulled them to pieces, cleaned them inside (especially around the carbon brushes & springs and the spindle spike), applied an electrical conductive grease (from JayCar), put them together, and remounted them. They worked perfectly after that. I think i got at least 5 more years till I disposed of the car. Tires. Obviously not an issue... Rims. No issue, but I damaged my previous ones (aftermarket, from Japan when I bought the car) Oil & filters Air filters And really minor things such as window wiper blades. Thats all I remember. Nothing major, until someone drove "through" the car in a multistory parking garage; and drove off. Apart from a "Good Samaritan" leaving a note on my windscreen with the offenders numberplate, an attendant following them in re-parking on a different level (with lic. Plate), my car was parked right next to the automated pay machine, so it had numerous cameras on it. He / She was fined by the police for their attempted get-away. The reason I tell this story, I had insurance do the repairs. They made 5-10 crappy attempts, and on one of the last failed attempts, I pointed out that at the correct angle, the bumper had waves/light reflection distortions on the surface (long straight florescent tube had a circular reflection). After some arguing, they agreed to correct it. Later, the assessor told me he found "the single last new bumper" in Australia. Which I thought was weird for a car never sold in Aus. ie there were *possibly* new body panels in Aus,. And why would he continue looking if he found one? insurance pays, not the repairer They eventually gave up and paid me out. After screwing me around for almost a year. Generally speaking, I never had issues with parts/repairs. Its a Nissan, and they try and re-use parts between what they sell, inc locally.
  2. No, the most obvious target, you would normally pay Motor Trimmers, who charge by the hour, it looks very labor intensive in time, and therefore I think it wouldn't be cheap. One thing I have thought to look into is something like Air-Tasker. At least then you are not paying a skilled professional rate to perform simple repetitive monkey work. Just did a quick search on YouTube, and found this vid. It took him 6hrs. One thing I did notice before I fond the above vid, there are different patterns to stitch it to together, some would obviously take longer, but as expected, probably look better.
  3. o0ooo.. these sew on's are a huge commitment. Get the video before you buy, and check around on how long it takes for a first timer, not a professional. I think I saw something on youtube which made me hesitant to go down that path.
  4. Wasn't sure if to post this in the gallery. Dont know how commonly know the following is, but I searched the whole of SAU and did not find any references to it. Just interesting that the car underneath all this, as used by "The Joker" in the suicide squad movie, is a V35 Coupe I saw it from the following YT clip:
  5. I am NOT recommending this unit, and only know what I can see from the link below. I only post it because I have not seen anyone mention it. Things to note: Its an Australian based company The unit is $519, but once you add the min expected things such as a reverse camera, its $715 (scroll down) before installation It basically looks to be an android phone/tablet, and 3GB RAM is not a lot. Another place to check about these would by an android forum such as: https://forum.xda-developers.com/m/teyesaustralia.11474311/ https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/android-head-units.4267/ Personally, I have my center screen translated, and use my phone for very good Audio (possibly not installable on this unit?), and navigation (Waze, which could be installed, but I am rooted/jailbroken and have modified it to remove the ads ect etc) and also ODBII over bluetooth. I also kind of like having a second screen (ie the phone) purposefully for Nav. And it kina looks a little bit like a tack-on with sticky tape.
  6. I have a 370GT, which has a compact flash interface. I use the AUX input from my phone. Is anyone using it in their car? I have a couple of questions, but will pout them out there, when I find a user.
  7. We have no idea about the guy, but he seems to know what he is talking about. His take is that its basically disco lights
  8. I'd be willing to bet money on no. But to confirm, check the part numbers online, somewhere like at https://nissan.epc-data.com/skyline/
  9. And worse, if it isn't a total scam (ie does absolutely nothing), it could even do damage.
  10. @awsam not sure if you know about these, but you may also get some help from android/technical forums / threads like: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/tesla-style-headunits.3512709/ https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/133?g=273
  11. I had a quick look, and found this manual. You will need to do the translation http://www.datasystem.co.jp/tekigou/pdf/ab_tvnavi.pdf
  12. Have you checked a web search? some of the links must have instruction or wiring diagrams. https://www.google.com/search?q=NT3181A I saw the first link, and it had a picture of the box, but in Japanese (google translate maybe) You may find a manual.
  13. I was ltalking about the previous post, referring to estimates in the US.
  14. I am going to take a guess that's a workshop that has done a few, so will know exactly what to do and how to be prepared, and would of got the time it down to a minimum.
  15. WHOOP! In the text I said 350GT which is incorrect. It was a 370GT, as the title states. I'll see if the mods can edit and corect it. But I am sure a 350GT would be even simpler for this guy.
  16. Quick Version: I just lost my one and ONLY key FOB for my 2008 370GT Coupe, at Westfields Bondi Junction, in East Sydney (a little more complex, but that's the gist). I called a heap of Car Locksmiths (not expecting any success after reading threads here on SAU. I truly thought I was done for). I called one guy (not the first), and he gave me the Phone number of another guy, and that guy (Jackson of OnTime LOCKSMITHS): Said he could do it. Would be at my location in the hour (Not my home) Quoted me a price over the phone, which I personally was actually a little shocked how reasonable it was. People talk about not having the original key, but that made no difference. Kept me updated via SMS on his travels/arrival (ie didn't leave me hanging wondering if he was going to get there or not. Very professional) Made it to me within the hour, as had promised. I think he was actually at another job or engaged in something else (it was a Saturday), because in his SMS updates, I dont think he started heading to me, as soon as our call ended; but he made it to me well on time, as promised. Pulled out his ODBII computer box, plugged it into my ODBII port, downloaded the software specific for the car, then followed the instructions on the computer screen inserting, extracting the key turning it to acc, start, rinse & repeat, etc etc etc Tested the FOB, AND IT WORKED!!! Cut the key in the back of his van using an automated key cutter. He then charged me exactly what he quoted me, and took payment VIA CC on the spot. I had asked him soon after he arrived, how much extra it would be to get a spare done at the same time, and I was a little surprised when he told me the price that I was quoted already included a spare. ie 2 key fobs. I cannot recommend this guy enough. I called about 5 places this morning, that could not do it, and one guy that actually hung-up on me while I was trying to explain to him that my car was parked way too far to meet him at the entrance of the shopping mall car park, when I was parked directly in-front of very specific elevators; ie dead easy to find. When I purchased my car at the start of the year, I got a single FOB with the car. I called about 10+ places back then, who either never called my back or did not respond to my email. And my regular mechanics quoted me almost twice the price i just now paid, and that was for a single FOB. I have not included the price, as it may change over time, or because of the different situation you may specifically in. But I am guessing mine was the second worst case scenario, and I was more than happy with the price. The only bonus was that I think was physically close to where he was located. I was also a little "lucky" that I actually only lost half my FOB (the circuit board), and still had the physical key, which I could use to prove to the locksmith, that it was my car , and not something I scoped sitting in the parking lot. The only negtatigve thing is that the FOB is a four button fob, so it has one button that does nothing. And it does not have the Nissan Logo on it. http://www.ontimelocksmiths.com.au Jackson: 0427 979 679 I would like you to mention the referral as the black 2008 370GT at Wetsfields BJ shopping car-park. Not because I get any kick-backs, but just to let this guy know just how grateful I am on how painless (and reasonably priced) he made this for me. And again, he gave me a firm price over the phone. It is definitely worth a call if you only have a single FOB (which is also cheaper than the two I got) or even just to keep his number in-case you ever get stuck somewhere FOB'less. And here is the FOB & Blurred key.
  17. I have checked by looking at the rear wheels while driving slowly in a tight curve. I have seen YouTube vids for other cars, where the rear wheels will steer even if you are stationary, probably ready for when you start moving; at slow speed pointing the opposite to the front. I do NOT drive my car aggressively. I drive mostly around the city, and could see a benefit when driving through the very tight curves in the narrow ramps in the parking lots I often use. And, if it isnt ridiculously expensive, I could try it for myself, and then turn it off again if it is crap, for my driving. Also, if its to meet AUS compliance, that removes any practical option to give it a try.
  18. Most of the coupes I have seen in AUS are P or SP models, which include 4WS; including mine. Its on the plate. However, its disabled. Is i it disabled because 1. To meet AUS Compliance 2. It was too expensive and/or complicated/difficult to keep working in Japan, by the original owner OR some other reason Is there anyone here who has the 4WS enabled/working? Mine is a 2008 coupe.
  19. +thats a little weird. The same size & width, but different identifiers. Are they different offsets between front and rear?
  20. Ha! I downloaded it, BUUUUT ITS IN RUSSIAN!! check your PM, dont know if there is any copyright on it. Sure, you could use google translate any part the pictures look like you want it. There may be an english version somewhere. maybe search withe the added term "english"
  21. did you see this one: https://www.autorepguide.com/showthread.php/672-NISSAN-SKYLINE-V35-(2001-2006)-repair-manual-download
  22. I am NOT expecting it to be a perfect repair. Its <$100 it would be ludicrous to think so. I just want it to take the stickiness away, and add some future UV protection and resolve the sticky and easily damaged current sticky surface. However, I have a dash-mat to cover it as well. PS: When you say "I sent photos to the above company" and they said it would not do the job, is that from the same company trying to sell you a new dash?
  23. Maybe my G35 was after the recall, and had the fix included (late 2003), due to G35 complaints from US, OR maybe the original Japanese owner had used the recall to get a better/fixed dash; although I dont think sun damage was much of an issue in Japan. Either way, I am annoyed my 370GT has a dodgy dash, and my 5 year older 350GT was impeccable. I have ordered a dash fix kit to hopefully fix the issue, and also have a custom dash mat to stop it from getting worse now, or happen again in the future, after I use the fix kit. Its in the mail, so no endorsement. https://stickydashfix.com/ anyone else try the above? Supercheap have a ceramic single stage fix product, but the reviews are not great.
  24. Not my experience for the G35. My G35 dash looked like new, and I did nothing to protect it. Not even any wipe-on creams or other products, ever. I remember when I saw the sticky dash on my 370GT and the car I saw before mine. I had a few days overlap in my possession, which just highlighted the absolute perfect condition of my G35 dash even more. From what I have read, they used less environment friendly plastics on the 350 than they did on the 370GT, which were not as UV stable.
  25. If your not into big screens, then the Tesla screen is well out of what you are looking for. The good thing is that from my understanding, its basically an Android tablet integrated into the the cars controls. So all the AC/Climate controls etc are there, as well as the latest navigation that can be installed on an android phone and ODBII software etc etc. I'm not a fan of fixed/hardware navigation systems. Nifty may just have something you could re-use in your system. https://www.niftycity.shop/products/nissan-skyline-370gt-2007-2014-apple-carplay-android-auto-advanced?variant=39727141552278
