  1. and I hope you have taken the warning and added some protection to your new dash. Unless they have upgraded the material. My V35 's dash was in perfect condition, 5 years older, and I didnt do a thing to protect it.
  2. I would of thought the RCA IS the AUX input. So it sounds to me that you have AUX audio input, just no video. I first tried using the Bluetooth for Audio, and it was well below what I want, and so I use the RCA Audio plugs. The bluetooth audio is very poor.
  3. I personally am not concerned with the actual display resolution. What does bother me, is the display of the camera from the passenger side camera. It looks to be a seriously low res camera. I am guessing you have already considered the Tesla screen conversion? As for displaying your phone screen in the center screen, my car has AUX video and sound, but of course that will not support touch screen events. There is also an iPod interface. I wonder if that also supports video and touch? IDK On my previous 350GT, I had a small bluetooth keyboard with a touch pad to control the phone I mirrored (VNC'd) onto the screen..
  4. Do you have the AUX inputs in the center glove compartment? On mine, that has Video and audio inputs. Haven't tried the video, but I do all my music from my phone into these audio aux in. I also have an iPod connector, but i'm all android. I assume iPods play video, and DVD's are going out in favor of digital files. There is no more blockbuster, you are heading down the VHS tape path of obsolescence. Would you actually use a DVD in your car? I set my V35 to display a computer screen in my boot, but I only used that to push my phone navigation onto the center screen, and music (big thread on it here, somewhere). But even that, I gave up on, as I liked the nav on one screen (my mounted phone) and used the main screen flipping between economy or compass. And the audio from my phone is big time quality, matching the full PC (ViperFX for Android), and has 128GB available for MP3's. I have over 3k of music files, each playing once before the loop starts again. Have you had the on board/center screen (not the dash console) converted to English? from memory, I think it cost <$200, and was done in a couple of days. This morning, there was a white car parked on the street below me, with tinted windows, and the roof painted black. I would consider it if my car was white and not already all black. Maybe carbon fiber the roof. Just a crazy idea.
  5. That sounds reasonable. There is also a little LED, which may light up when it gets a signal/instruction It didn't have any place in which to insert an electric plug for a cable. The thing that also reminded me was that I saw an image of another car with a similar thing but it was a different size. I also spelt the owners ( @Shortimus ) name wrong, so he maybe didn't get any notification. Is that how you do it?
  6. I now have a 370GT, but when I got my 350GT the first thing I did was get it translated. I dont know if there is anyone still doing the translations for the 350GT. At the time, it was simply a short 10 minute job where the guy put a CD in the nav slot, and it was done a few minutes later. On my 370GT I had to get some unique info from my computer and they had to burm a disk specific for my car. The short story is, if you can find someone with "the disk" I think it should work. I dont remember the guy doing anything specific for my individual car; but you already appear to know that. Maybe someone has shared the disk as a torrent
  7. I dont think chris is on the board or working on V35's anymore. I no longer have a 350GT (I now have a 370GT), but when I first got mine, the first thing I did was buy (from chris) the AV cable which allowed me to plug directly into the screen, and I had a PC in the boot that displayed on that screen.
  8. @shirtimus When I viewed the car you got, there was some strange black plastic box stuck to the lower center console. The owners had no idea what it was for, and neither did I.Out of interest, do you know what its for?
  9. @Maruku Just looked at one of your old photos, and noticed how puny the oil filter was. I noticed when changing the oil & filter on my V6 370, the Nissan filter recommendation for the 3.7l was the same as what is recommended for a 1.2L on other makes see the following for photos (ie visual diffs) (the link preview shown below is not the post it leads to....) for some photos of he difference of the upgrade option someone else found, for the 3.7. Basically the thread size & depths for the inner and the outer match, but the filter is much bigger.
  10. To preface all the below, I dont know what I am talking about here.... however I previously owned a 350 GT Coupe; just got my 370 in Jan. Every now and then, I would "clear" the ECU's stored learning by disconnecting the battery for a while (I would leave it over night). That cleared some learned data, and when I next drove my car, it was noticeably different ("punchier"). I dont know, but maybe that would also clear the learned idle and force the relearn for idle also. I use to use my Bluetooth ODII scanner and Nissan Datascan app to force a relearn of idle. But it was never a problem, so I cant say I noticed any real big change; maybe a very slight lowering of idle. I remember that, as I thought maybe it had gone too low.
  11. @Maruku I am following your build. I recently upgraded from a 350GT coupe to a 370GT coupe. When I was upgrading from the 350GT I was looking at possibly going for an Audi A5 Coupe. The clincher that pushed my away (apart from its lack of performance compared to the 350 let alone the 370), was that those cars are known for requiring an "engine out" for the most simplest of engine fixes. So a $100 dollar job on other cars becomes a $2k+ piece of work at the mechanics. how are you feeling about space for working / maintenance. Eg replacing say a gasket.
  12. @Blakeo the first link by @robbo_rb180 above takes you to their site, and they have a "chat" feature. Sounds like the perfect people to ask. I was a little disheartened that their Nissan page was a little sparse.
  13. And just to further my point of how small a world it is, I found from another thread, @Shortimus actually bought the other 370GT Coupe I was looking at possibly buying.
  14. well, thats a shot from the past. That was one of the cars I looked at, when looking to get mine! 1st Thing, strip the ugly %$@# advertising sticker off the rear window! And the other thing I remembered from viewing that car, fix the dash! and protect it. When I saw it, the top of the dash looked like it was melting due to the level of damage. I have posted some things I have done or am planning to do to mine, including: Mine is black, and I plasti-dipped my front grill gloss black. Check google images, many paint the grill black, but leave the top and bottom bars silver. I think I got my gloss black plasti-dip from Repco I put carbon fiber vinyl wrap on the rear boot spoiler (find and see thread) I dont remember how the interior door grips were, but mine were sub-par, and so I vinyl wrapped them myself, in carbon fiber (look). PS: I paid something like $10-$20 on ebay for a sheet of Carbon Fiber 4D vinyl warp, and have PLENTY left over. I plan to plasti-dip the rims in Anthracite. Had to buy from ebay, as its not stocked in Aus stores I striped all but the "S K Y L I N E" emblems off the boot lip I had the passenger and drivers doors tinted in the top level carbon-ceramic tint. I got SunCare at Arncliffe. They quoted me cheaper for the top product, than another place did for the lowest product of the same brand. The tint did peel in the bottom corners, but they fixed it, and admitted that they missed a lower guide that lifted the film, low down inside the doors. I got max legal (35% I think) but also got the back sides and rear tinted over with film, as it has such a high UV and IR rating. Check your PM's
  15. west of what? I'm in east Sydney. Otherwise, it may of been me that you see. I do drive around once a month south-west. And come to think of it, maybe as you keep one off the road at anyone time...
  16. Interesting, I was not really watching it but just passing hrough, but, a guy got pulled over on the show where they check for alchohol & drurgs, I cant remember the show name, buts its three characters. He was driving a red 370GT Coupe. I watched the show (which I dont normally do as it *&#% me no end in the way they hold the final results over the ad breaks) because of the 370GT Coupe. Not a great reference...
  17. I have my phone already mounted, and dislaying the ODB readings, unfortunately, oil pressure is not available. As of course you would know, the guage you have requires the extra sensors to drive the results. The only extra sensor I think I wish for is the oil pressure one. Did you manage to find the oil pressure using ODB? You seem to imply you only gave up regarding displaying it on the car's screen implying it was available. The below is where my phone sits. ie I dont need or want it to consume the screen. Its always connected for music, at the very least, but I also drive with Nav even when I know the way. Accident/Police/pot-holes(really handy with sports suspension and ultra low profile tyres)/traffic/cars on side of road/construction etc etc reports are always on hand. I use the AUX input for audio, but I would assume the video AUX would also work, but my Pixel phone has been consciously broken by google to force people to use their screen sharing method instead of an AUX out. And I think the always available type like your screen would be best for the oil pressure. NB: Thats not actually my car, mine does not have seat warmers. Which would be a possible location to install some LED's for oil pressure. So you would hacve oil pressure. Where is the sensor located? The thread I linked above talks about options and their effects on readings.
  18. I am with you on not having a glaring out of context round guage bolted to the side of the interior/dash. I am thinking yes to the pressure sensor on my next oil & filter change, but will make some effort to find something a little less intrusive than the round guages you get at supercheap auto. Around 25-30 years ago, I owned a Mitsubiush Starion Turbo, with a modded boost limit with stock fuel inj. So, I added a 10 segment square LED guage that read and displayed the O2 sensor. It was soooooo small, as it was made up of 10 of those tiny rectangular LED's (2x5mm) all stuck to the side of each other. So it was possibly just over 5mm high by 20mm wide. Very easy to locate somewhere unobtrusive. It was VERY simply to fabricate, with only a few extra parts on top of the LEDs and IC. I even just used black electrical tape to hold it together instead of a plastic case. I had the first three LED's as RED, the next 4 as Orange and the last two as green. I am hoping someone, somewhere prefabs the LED and the single IC as a single prefab unit. With something like. The actual chip is really cheap (<$9) and very common and old, and even sold at JayCar https://www.jaycar.com.au/lm3914-linear-led-bar-dot-driver-ic/p/ZL3914 with the instructions / circuit diagram in the downloads of that page. I am guessing the Oil pressure sensors simply send out a voltage (My old O2 was 0-1.0V). From memory, I knocked it up in a single afternoon, after collecting all the parts. I think dicksmith in those days. I dont think I have the current drive to do it all myself again.
  19. And I would not look at doing the uprev flash as part of getting cruise control. And the Radar controlled cruise control is well beyond what I was thinking about. I am assuming the Uprev path would be well over the 1k-1.4k with stearing controls, for a simple cruise control?
  20. Huh? Why would you NOT be keen to install an oil pressure guage?
  21. I am hoping to one day add cruise control, and its a toss up between the stock steering wheel controls or the added 3rd party buttons. What is it you mean by "another model of the same car"? do you mean getting the steering controls from a US Infinity G37? or is there another AUS delivered vehicle that has the same steering wheel?
  22. I wasnt joking,, I was half asleep... sorry.... https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-drivetrain-and-forced-induction/290710-gallery-gasket-is-it-inevitable.html
  23. its getting late, but I came across the following thread with lots of info, including words from people that its happened to. Prices are $USD
  24. whops... the gasket is black,my mistake...
  25. What would be the expected cost to do a preemptive replacement of the Oil Gallery Gasket (in Aus of course)? I would expect there to be a range, from where the mechanic has underestimated the extent of the work, to the higher price, where the mechanic has a higher hourly rate and they have added in an extra buffer in case its harder than they expect. Also, are the replacement gasket of the same material? or are they now synthetic/metal etc etc. I looked on ebay, and the one found was black, but didn't say what its made of; the above photo looks kinda light brown and thin, but that after a failure.
