Nah, there is less surface area touching the road due to the bumps/divots hence less traction. They are also not designed to channel the water very well so the aqua plain. Now I know less surface area is generally better in the wet eg. thin tyres will get more traction in the wet because the weight is distributed over a small area but not with snow tyres, they are just plain shit I'd say your stuck with them mate, no one wants them lol. I've pulled my whole dash apart so I could give you some tips but I really need to see it. From memory I think you'll be having trouble with the top where it joins to the plastic that surrounds the cluster cover.
