the other thing to think of too is the sr20 is a fair bit lighter. could suit the 86 a bit better? but if i was in your position id rebuild the ca

does it still have LSD like the factory turbo cars. It would have to be 94+ model eh? if its got lsd then id get it especially if it has the updated interior. If you wanna go all out on mods then the rb20 is a more solid platform. If youre gunna go smallish mods id probably just get one with an sr20det. Also check how big the brakes are, i'd definatly want some decent stoppers on a car like that. If theyre the same size as the sr20de sils id be budgeting in a brake upgrade. in the end its up to you. i'd try and use the fact that it was once an n/a, and your going to have to spend more on this one to spec it up, than to buy a normal sr20det one

my leet setup with a turbofart plumb back that actually vents atmo makes long fluttering noises. its mad when youre just cruising but sounds shite on quick gear changes

Couldnt steal my car so they vandalise it!
GaryD replied to bryanlee38's topic in General Automotive Discussion
i think not going to the cops was the dumbest thing you could do. no offence, i feel for you, but at least they would have known if it was happening a lot or whether it must have been a personal attack against you -
4 doors, 5 seats, bigger boot, more room inside. thats is practicality

you dont buy a 350z to be a parramatta maccas boy racer. its about style and prestige. sure an sti might be faster, but its stil a wrecks, and everyone has one. if you wanna pull car average to hot chicks you go the sti, but if you wanna pull glamours you go the 350z having said that, i have no car atm hehe

dont gtr's have steel wheels?

Locked Diff, ActiveLSD, or LSD ? Someone explain...
GaryD replied to ix9's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
doesnt a locked diff mean that both wheels are forced to spin together at the same speed regardless? which would be uterly useless for track work not to mention day to day driving, youd be wheel spinning around corners wouldnt u? im prolly hopelessly wrong thou -
might as well try and see what happens. whats the worst that could happen? also if you get pulled over, standard rules apply, i.e. you have the right to remain silent. From memory you are required to tell them your name and maybe address. If they ask you what speed you were doing you dont have to answer if you don't wish too. and never say you were actually speeding, if you do say anything, say either "im not sure" or a speed lower than the limit. if they dont have you on radar and you admit to speeding then you're gone.

ive heard baaaad stories about people doing this, i.e. maps being way lean. i'd let the tuner plug it in and let them do their thing straight away, not worth the risk for the extra few $ it would cost for the time they take.

Does the Brake pad touch the disc when u jack the car up?
GaryD replied to lambo's topic in General Maintenance
mmm yeh yur right actually! i just checked bendix's site and they recommend only doing it if the disc isnt the same thickness all the way around. apologies, ill delete that post. the dodgy brake shop musta been telling me porky pies you'd know if you cracked the brakelines, your fluid would be low and your wheels would be covered in shit. theyre made to be pretty robust really, cuz its wat keeps u alive -

GaryD replied to lambo's topic in General Maintenance
yeh he's right, have someone help you the 1st time. it is pretty straight forward, but at the same time its your breaks so u wanna do em properly. remember to bed the new brakes in aswell -
Does the Brake pad touch the disc when u jack the car up?
GaryD replied to lambo's topic in General Maintenance
yeh what he said. and if youre going to do them all at once, might as well bleed em while yur there. if you do bleed them, start from the passanger side rear, then do the drivers side rear, then passanger side front, then drivers side front -
Does the Brake pad touch the disc when u jack the car up?
GaryD replied to lambo's topic in General Maintenance
use a g-clamp mate, thats the easiest way. its a bugger otherwise. while youre there you might as well bleed them. pump the peddle 3 times, on the 3rd go get someone to undo the nut and the brake line and push the peddle to the floor. the fluid will leak out, once the peddle is on the floor tighten the nut back up. make sure u have extra fluid to top it up -
i dont doubt him actually, with a properly tuned manifold its not that hard to get large turbos spooling at low rpms.
