mmmmhh interesting i wonder which it is. i doubt the bearings, cause it still boosts sweet. now how to locate the proplem??

just wondering if anyone know if this is anything to worry about, i got a high flowed turbo and when i hit boost the turbo squeals but still pulls 15psi nicely then with my metal in the wastegate no blow off valve, i make my flutter sound and then it makes this new high pitched squealing sound like when u let the air out of a balloon slowly,it does this 90% of the time does anyone know what this sound is i have checked all the piping for leaks but i can not find any??? thankyou

yeh i have a 500hp denso fuel pump and yes the adjustable fuel reg. is installed correctly as i got an adaptor to get rid of the standard item so it is alright then by the sounds of it???

just wondering is my malpassi rising rate fuel regulator hurting my injectors? some ppl say yes some say no whats your thaughts this is my way that i can be bothered changed changing the injectors on my rb20det and will this support 200+rwkw cause i am up at 183rwkw and everything seems fine just want a little more boost and a little more fuel???

made 170rwkw with ease on i think 12psi at 170rwkw the standard AFM maxed out so i am going to get a z32 AFM and ecu remapped and easily 200rwkw+

yw its very intresting like i am happy with the power form the rb20 turbo i think this one has more punch and i can boost higher with the steel blades but yeh i agree with your Rpm vs power! i have loosend up the wastegate and now i got spool at 2800 15psi by 3400rpm or there about i think thats a little bit better for the rb20det engine, but yeh i dunno i get dynoed in two weeks i was at 160kw before hand lets see wat happens now!

sorry but i might not be an xpert but i know enough! and yes it is a VL T hi flowed and yes it really does have steel blades and for sure its bigger than my rb20 turbo

its got me f*#%#@ but its good tho well sort of its a bit too responsive. how ever if i give boost up and let go after my flutter there is a small hissing sound which goes away a couple of seconds later! could this be beacuse the door closes so quickly sum air is still stuck and can only just escape out not flow out like before? or is this a diffrent problem?

i put on a high flowed, steel bladed VL turbo onto my rb20det and originally spooled up at 4 grand which i was told was about normal... anyways i had a turbo rattle so i pulled the xhaust off to find out the wastegate flap in the back of the turbo was loose, so we bent the wastegate actuator arm to tighten it up... now the car spools up at 2100rmp and 15psi by 2600rpm, is this safe having the wastegate so tight??? does anyone know??? anyone got a VL T on a rb20det wats your spool up??? thankyou

fixed once and for all the rattle was the wastegate flap in the back of the turbo was loose say i tightned it right up and now i am spooling up at 2grand rather than 4 grand two great fixes in one

actually after a few hours the noise came back i counted my chickens to early!!! now with a home made stethoscope it appers the sound is coming from the rear of the turbo does that help anyone??? iam going to drop the xhaust off tonight and see wat i can see

thankyou very much "gengis" u saved me so much hassle ur dignosis was spot on i changed the turbo/manifold gasket today and problem gone thanks again

nah the sound is sweet wen u hit boost a perfect sucking sound but yeh would you still b making power if the blades were indeed hiiting the housing that is what i dunno?? cause the car is still pulling good!

ye i checked this element and no the wastgate rod is tight! i guess a question here is if in deed it is the blades that are rattling ( ie hitting the housing) Y would the noise go away once hitting boost and secondly Y would the turbo still be pulling good boost??
