  1. Hey A5h, like i was mentioning earlier i aint 100% sure of prices yet as i am in the process of dealing talking to distributors of the core material and end tanks, so price will depend but again as i mentioned in teh frist post my aim is to keep it at a low cost. The tanks will simply be a quality cast tank made by a well known company who currently use the same tanks on their coolers and and are 100% certified, unless their coolers are dodgy J/k
  2. Dude like i said i am all about volume and turnover rather than outright profits or i would be thinking of a pricetage around the 1100 mark which a cooler of this make would be priced at. I am in the process of trying to obtain contact with the contract manufacturer of the cores Trust use... and after all, jsut about all the top drag GTR's etc. are using a Trust drag core. So i want in on it and i have seen someone he create one with HKS end tanks and i want to do exactly this. So once i get onto this contact we will be on our way.
  3. Here sthe pics of a cooler i was once interested in buying but not want to match and if i can beat. Let me just say they are close to double the pricetag i am talking. By the way that price is for core only, the price of the kit is mindblowing. But quality is excellent.
  4. Yeah pics would be great, i will try and post pics of the cooler i am wanting to build. I am in the process of designing a mount that will be fitted to the top of he cooler similar to the Hybrid make of cooler allowing very good universal fitting. And also if that isn't a go ahead then creating mount tags for specific cars which will be welded to the core size people want when they order it specifically for you and have the option also for a little extra to have it all polished lookin shmick`. The thing is tho what is the core your friend bought off the net? How is quality for that price? Cos to me that seems a bit exspensive unless it has cast end tanks and stuff which is what i will be using anyway
  5. Gilty believe u me, if i can get them down to that price range i will do it, thats my goal is to bring them down to between 650-700 to kill the markets prices bad, and be selling better wuality stuff at the same time. As i said this is a trial basis, and even if i break even on profits i don't mind because alls i am trying to do is prove to everyone you can have what you want at the price you want. If i can sell a cooler between this price range and still make a feasable profit which will allow me to reproduce another round of them and more of them then it will be a product to look out for. Basically i am a perfectionest, and to tell you the truth if it doesn't look good for me i generally wont even bother contemplating it. I know this is the case for everyone, who wants to spend that kinda money and have a shit looking cooler? Not me, and so i am definately not going to sell a crapy looking cooler, nor one that doesn't work. I will go to every length i need toin order for this to work.
  6. Hey guys, I am going to take a plunge into producing intercoolers. I will be using a top garret or other top core i can get my hands on i have a few i want to keep to me for now, but will be a very efficient high quality core. I will be using cast alloy end tanks, and can be polished if needed. I am thinking of firstly starting with an s13 silvia/180 cooler (core size probably around 630*250*76) and an R32/33 cooler (core szie 600*300*76) for now and with s14/15 to come probably very shortly after. My aim is to over u guys the best of quality cooler u can get ya hands on for the bes tmoney possible. I am estimateing at the price range between 700-850 as i said estimating, for either cooler. I have searched around and havn't been able to find a cooler with cast end tanks and a high quality core that works the way a aftermarket cooler should with a pricetag below a grand. It will be exremely close looking to the HKS coolers, and performance wise providing i can obtain the core i am after will be up with the best around. I am aiming for an awesome looking cooler, high quality build, and excellent performance to match, with an aim of giving people something that works for the money that no one else can match. I will be speaking to the suppliers very soon and look to have the first handful of say 5 of each made within the month. I will also be working on constructin ga piping kit for those who are interested in the long run possibly, but would much rather stick to supplying coolers as many people can now make the piping custom for much less than the hastle of making a kit so i can keep the prices of the cooler a lot better for you guys. Like i know a lot of you are i am sick of rediculous quotes from large companies who are much mroe driven buy profits than performance and customer satisfaction overall. I am also sick of the pricetags we all know are rediculous and is the reason why i put this proposal to you guys being the interested parties to come forward and give me your thoughts on whether or not anyone would be interested in purchasing a cooler in the very near future. Thanks for your time, J.
  7. ha ha dude not too sure, havn't got much material left so i'll have to try and get hold of some more resin and matting to be able to make a mould of mine, so until then i'm not sure.
  8. Hey _turtle_ is all finished, i have run the cold air feeds and made an alloy funnel which also feeds cold air form the stock ram tube thingy.l Works great, a lot smoother rev's, especially last night was nice and cold at 3am and was alot better. I wanna try n chuck it on the dyno with and without the partition in soon and check the results.
  9. Yeah sorry dude sold it ages ago .
  10. Hey guys, Have a basically brand new HKS SSQ BOV the newer version with R33 mount. In top condition, possibly gunna sell it jsut wondering if anyone is keen. Will ask around $320 for it i'd say, they retail around 600 mark cheapest as it comes iwth the bolt on mount.
  11. Still the same ol` problem at the end of the day though, where 'we' as performance car enthusiasts are gunna feel targets to the police. I know everyone has had some very valid points to the topic in previous posts and i am not disputing them at all, but it will still come down to the fact everyone thinks they are being targeted for the hell of doing it. Its not for the hell of it, as they have been given one goal and thats to prevent any dangerous situations or possible dangerous events occuring by making sure all motor vehicels are legal to be driving on the road. Its this thought that 'the police are out to get us for the heck of it' that gets everyone into trouble. I know i was the same and felt very strongly towards this, as i was the last of my friends to get my liscence and i know from being canaried 7 times in my mates riced up civic for things we knew were blanetantly illegal, but we still swore we were the victims in it... UNTIL one genuine police officer, who was young like us (22 to be exact) who sat us down one night when he pulled us over to do a random check on the canary on our car,and he explained to us in a manner we would understand and get it into out thick heads that they were. He xplained form past experience of his first ever shift he had dealing with a serious car accident of which he said he will never forget. It turn out the three young drivers none above 19 in the car died on impact as they collided with a tree at 130km'h head on. He further explained the hard hitting reason as to why it happened... their car was traveling down a straight stretch of road at an estimated 10-15km'h over the limit when they hit an unseen pot hole, and due to its extrememly illegal ride height of 6 cm's it bottomed out, lost control and ended up a tripple fatality. It hit even more hard when we realised that it wasn't 'real cool' in his civic which lay at a crazy 4 cm ride height, and we had done this for so long. We were an accident waiting to happen, and thank friggen god it never did. I think it takes something like this to actually prove to you as the driver or owner of a vehicle that is modified, that you hear of the reasons behind why they are checking our cars. Yes i know that sometimes they do go about it very wrong and that 'some' have what it seems to bevery little knowledge in cars and modifications, but at the end of the day they are doing their job. Between two of my mates they have had 24 canary's between them in the passed 12 months. I used to look at it that they were targeted and it was bullsh!t, the cops were jealous blah blah blah... but the fact of the matter is, they are dangerous to be on the road. Its easier to look at it this way... do you really wanna be a threat to yourself, your passengers and everyone else on the road and possibly have to live with shocking memories of possibly killing or injuring someone so severe their lives will never be the same again simply because u want a low ride etc.? Whether it be ride height, rim size, extruding objects or what have u if it doesn't fit the criteria of VicRoads' legislation then youa re asking to be canaried bsaically. There's no in between for this, so its either we mod our car's legally and never be hastled by them again, OR take the risk of yourself, everyone else and getting caught for the sake of it? I'll leave it to you guys.
  12. Dude only thin gwith cutting wholes is u lose torsional strength in the panel. U might think i am crazy saying this when the whole is maybe 3" wide and on a panel that seems to do nothing, but tests have been done after wholesawing panels for weight reduction and the srength loss is huge!! Just be careful where u cut the holes from. P.s. Still been looking round at other partitions people have done and one's that are being sold for around the $150 price such as the UAS one, and to tell ya the truth the simpler the better. The UAS one is just simply on sheet of neoprene cut to fit perfectly as a partition, would be around the $10-15 price to constrcut and i have a top view photo of an R33 one from the net which i am currently working on in scale to create an exact replica of it. Once its done i'll post it on here and EVERYONE can have cheap good working partitions .
  13. I was replying as a J/k aswell dude lol couldn't help but notice the power output and the 'mostly stock', was funny as
  14. No there is the correct size gap left already for it and the piping is there just not visible in the foto. It fits between the headlight and cooler piping then runs down to the front bar, having the piping there meant, not wholesawing like i thought and a snug fit so no hot air leaks, and furthermoremakes sure the air doesn't become warm cos it never reaches the top of encloses area where hot air will sit.
  15. Down the bottom behind the headlight there is two feeds coming in ya can't see... they come from cooler cold air feed on the front bar and feed into the bottom of the partition.
  16. Pics are up peoples... excuse the dust, engine bay is still covered in saw dust from boot building lol... and no that isn't a patchy paint job on the fibreglass, its the flash off the clear gloss finish :S http://www.angelfire.com/co3/thegrub1/indexPost.html
  17. Took the foto's jsut before, should have em up tonight somtime hopefully.
  18. Whatsisname... Best ET - 13.0 @113mph (2.238 60', full street trim, 13psi boost) Best TS - 115.8mph Current power - 257rwkw (13psi) ""Mostly stock""!! Wtf... 257rwkw LOL
  19. Just removed the partition again to finish it up, just been down to clark rubber and got me some neoprene hollow tubing which i sliced down the center and fitted to the top edge of the partition to create a good seal against the bonnet. I have also sprayed the inner side of it in black paint, as black is good for soaking up unwanted heat (hence why factory cooler piping and good coolers are painted black). Once this is dry i will wholesaw cut into the inner panel between partition and 1/4 panel in order to run cold air feeds into the partition from same position the factory cooler cold air pickup is located, as the air down low at the front bar is the coldest possible point to obtain air coming up off the ground. Once its all done i am hoping to obtain a heat probe from somewhere to borrow to meausre how low the temp. drop is at the air filter. EVen thinking about having a small Evo style vent fitted above the filter in the bonnet to force cold air into the region. Once thing i'm not sure i fi mentioned but all u surfers would probably know, certain resin's when in a cold environment actually harden and hold in the cold eg. surfboards for strength, this was one of the main reasons i decided to use fibreglass in the first place, and i tested it when i removed it from the liner yesterday by puting cold water on one side of it and puting my hand on the other and the cold litterally soaks through the fibreglass and can be felt almsot the same temp on the opposite side to the water, this is good in that once cold, it stays cold well and with the heat deflecting liner i covered on the other side it deflects heat one way and keeps cold in on the other If anyone wants any info at all on what i have done and researched, let me know i'll try and help as much asi can, i should have foto's up asap so ay can see it properly... and also for those who are wondering it has cost me about $40 to make the entire thing, for a moulded fibreglass partition... If ya thinking about doing it but iant sure let me know and i can even give ya hand if its possible
  20. After reading Warpspeeds post, i understand fully where he is comin from. If u don't mind me askin how old is ya dude? Like my dad and my uncle (big car enthusiasts) they take the same approach, whereby its all performance and bugger looks (my uncles 460kw, stocklooking VS Ute is an example)... However for us younger people like everything else, a lot rides on looks. For many having a 'mad' looking car is all that matters, hence the reason why so many people rice up lancers, mirage's, hyundai's etc basically cos they aint after performance otherwise they would have bought a performance car, but also performance cars cost a lot to buy in the first place, so realistically the only obviosu alternative to being able to mod a car when you own say a base model civic or lancer is to go for looks, cos you sure as hell aint gunna spend $3000 on a titanium exhaust system (hypothetical ;P ) for something alike when the performance increase will be F&*% all excuse the expression. Mainly the cars getting pulled up a cars too low, too loud and that stound out from the crowd... all of which usually are as i said riced up little bangers scraping the floor with huge bodykits, massive chrome rims and exhaust that make ya wonder if the driver is deaf yet. HOWEVER like myself, being young, yet owning a performance car aswell, puts me in a position where yes i do want looks, i want to be individual and not just have a plain black R33 like the guy down the road, i want it to have nice rims, neat paintjob, couple of stickers etc. and this is where the problem lies cos i also love performance also. So it draws a distinct confusing line which sets us in hot water, whereby we can either have one or the other and hope if its a sleeper that we don't get randomly pulled up, or take the risk of having the looks aswell and hope even more that we don't get pulled up. The only problem i have with being dicked is that the polcie simply know nothing at all about mod's. I been pulled up numerous times now and have talked my way out of several canaries due to the fact i have read up on the modifcation laws to an extent where the only mod on my car that 'could' be defected is my exhaust piping being too low... this is regardless of how much my car still stands out with graphics, rims, big exhaust etc. It seems no matter where u go and who's cruising with u, the cops will always pick the 'flashy-est' looking car out of the group to target first, which i feel is unfair, especially when u are crusing with 11 second cars that are totally illegal but because of there sleeperish appearence (and i say sleeper-'ish' for a reason), when realistically if the cops knew anything about mod's i.e. Massive coolers hanging off the front with piping scraping the ground, big turbos and external gates pokin out under the bonnet etc. then we would no longer be the focus of there attention. This became clear to me when i was defected for height, when clearly my car sat a good 10-20mm above legal limit with passengers, however when a friends car was checked over he was done aswell for similar usual reasons, hegith, 18" rims to big on skyline? WTF!!??? his wiper jets having lights (despite the wiresdangling not connected??) and a few other minor things, but when asked to pop the bonnet they proceeded to say everything was 'fine and legal' after inspection, when they look straight at a huge BOV, open 'foam' pod filter, boost controller, fuel pressure reg, oil catch can etc?? I don't get it? do you... Basically i just wish it was fairer... i understand they are trying to make cars more legal and ultimately the roads more safe for everyone, but for god's sake when ya do it, do it properly with people who know what they are looking for (apart from the blantantly obvious).
  21. u can disable hicas by removing the link bar under the car that connects the two hicas steering arms and replace it with a hicas lock, its just a bar that bolts in its place and no longer uses the hicas, but i think u have to disconnect the electrics for it aswell. I know JMS have the bars available.
  22. HA HA HA HA HA HA :S Soz... babe
  23. Nah dude, where it is and the amount being used will just deflect heat from the outside of the partition. Cos i am only doing a partition not a box... good news aswell, its finished and fitted and it turned out perfect so far. ALl came together way better than expected thankfully, as it was a first off attemtp. I used a piece of cardboard to make a template wall which i taped in place to where the wall will be made, then lined the whole area with garbage bags, then layed around a 2mm thick layer of fibreglass which moulded to the shape of the cooler piping and all surrounding edges. Just gotta get me so neoprene to seal the top edge and a gap down the bottom after i install the cold air feeds but so far its lookn good. I'll try n get mum to bring home the digital camera tomorrow from work to post up some pics.
  24. "All these problems are from streetmachines"... thats what makes it sound like its been driven hard overseas dude. Not that common for a diff to go unless ya thrash it and it doesn't sound like u do, and for the hicas and that to be disconected is usually a sign of drifting?? Ah well best of luck with it dude hope it all pulls together.
