maybe you should have a read of the agreement PRSC signed with QHC in the Planning and Environment Court. This was the outcome of PRSC appealing the heritage listing of Lakeside.http://www.lakesideraceway.com/p&e_court_agreement.htm Yes there was an EOI which just closed, but that was a requirement of this agreement PRSC signed to get Lakeside off the Heritage Register. They HAD to do it to achieve their goal of getting the protection lifted from the site. Now that they have done that, there is absolutely nothing binding PRSC to do anything more than that, apart from advise the QHC of the outcome of the EOI process by 29th of March. I hope you are right and that it is about to re-open, but the fact is PRSC bought the place to shut it down, and have never even showed any interest, let alone made any commitment, to re-opening it for motorsport. Call me a cynic, but I think now that PRSC have completed their obligations under the agreement, and have won their appeal to have Lakeside removed from the Heritage register, they can get on withthe business of closing the place down. And in 4 years time they can take the bulldozers in. I know a few people around the place on CAMS State Council, in PRSC, in the Historic Racing Car Club etc, and I haven't heard any rumours of this re-opening being imminent.

I didn't know the EOI was part of the condition of an agreement with QLD Heritage Council to have Lakeside's Heritage protection removed until I looked into it further. I thought the EOI was as Council stated - looking for interested parties to run the facility for the communities use. This is the actual state of affairs at the moment, and it's not terribly promising: The QHC (QLD Heritage Council) made an agreement with PRSC (Pine Rivers Shire Council) in the Planning and Environment Court of QLD, to deregister Lakeside Raceway from the Heritage Listing in order to help PRSC find a suitable use for this site with the community. There were a number of conditions to this agreement, including a deadline for PRSC to seek expressions of interest from the comunity as to its future use. That has happened now, and PRSC have until the 29th of March to advise QHC in writing of the outcome of the EOI process. So we will soon hear more about it from QHC and/or LMRE (lakeside MOtor Racing Enthusiasts). There is unfortunately no commitment in the agreement from PRSC to actually take any action after the EOI, to actually give the community the use of the facility as per the spirit of the agreement. And the site is only protected until May 2010 at this stage. So any re-opening is by no means guaranteed, and wether it would include motorsport use if it does re-open is also not guaranteed.

cool, I volunteered this morning to help out in the last volunteer/driver spot, so if they need my services I'll see you out there. I might come out for a look anyway. Would be awesome to see, and hear, it in anger!

yeah, sounds good. A mate with a supercharged SS ute has been trying to get me to go to a test'n'tune night anyway. I'm more interested in hillclimbs and sprints, but i do want to see what it'll do on the quarter, just for interest's sake. I'll have a look for that thread cheers

I dunno, I reckon 355AWKW might be pretty handy at the drags too! nice car - I'd love to have some of that hadware for mine!

hehe, hiding the camera until you took off hey? it is an awesome little escort. I think he claims something like 240+bhp at the wheels! I actually beat him once in my old L18 powered Datto 1200 with a 48.37, but only 146bhp at the wheels can't wait to see what my GTR can do out there

Rose Jointed Adjustable Caster Bars
hrd-hr30 replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
the standard ones are up to it. You have to remember that Stew is a died in the wool rally man. The top guys always over engineer things to last in that harsh environment. If you don't finish, you can't win. I wouldn't rally on them either, but anything short of that, they should be fine. I did it on my Datsun 1200 race car's castor rods, which are the spindliest looking things in the world, and it was subject to years of kerb hopping, being airborne on road rallies, not to mention a few excursions... All with the added load of a big arse L20 on top of it. And then there's the incident with sliding into a square edge gutter on one special stage of a road rally, which sent me airborne, and spun me 1.5 times, bending the chassis and strut tower, breaking wheel bearing races and cracking rims... the spindly castor rods survived just fine. The only reason a modded one would be any weaker than the unmodified factory part is due to the slightly longer threaded section, but a castor rod really doesn't handle any shear or twisting forces that would make it an issue - it takes tension loads, and the strength in that direction is unchanged. All I would recommend is not leaving a square step at the end of the extended thread where it steps back up to the diametre of the arm, as it could be a stress riser. Anyway, I'd do it again in a flash in total confidence. I'm not one to cut corners where safety is an issue, but I'm also not into adding weight or spending money where it isn't necessary. The SWR arms are definitely a good product and well worth the money, but I think it's overkill for my application. -
Where To Find/buy 2nd Hand Semi Slicks / Slicks?
hrd-hr30 replied to AzzurrA's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
the Saloon Cars (commodores and Falcons) use 225/50*16 Bridgeston RE55S (same as in that flatspot pic) as their control tyre. The front runners replace them regularly, and their 2nd handies should be very cheap (they pay $225ea brand new). -
Rose Jointed Adjustable Caster Bars
hrd-hr30 replied to Ghostrider's topic in Classic & Vintage (1950's-1980's)
rose joints are not street legal, and will also put you out of any realistic category if you run a hillclimb or sprint event - technically, you'll have to run as a sport sedan! you can have your standard castor rods made adjustable by machining them down so you can extend the thread, and them lock them up with a nut on either side of the bush. last time I had a set of standard castor rods made adjustable it cost about $80 including remove and refit! but that was several years ago they are shiney though -
its a fun little track, hey? Sounds like you did pretty well for the first time there, especially if it was on normal street tyres with all that power! Its also pretty cheap motorsport, with entry for a hillclimb event about $66 last time I ran. Might see you there during the year - I'm going to run the GTR in the series. Which reminds me, I must get the registration form in...

PRSC is going to open Lakeside! That EOI closed yesterday. So there's no need to keep signing the petition. Just hope that the winning EOI is interested in running club level events there! I would love to get back onto that track in the GTR! more info: http://www.prsc.qld.gov.au/c/prsc?a=glob&object=1131925573

here's an idea- take it to someone who knows what they are doing. troubleshooting an engine problem over the internet is more frustrating for us than you, believe me. every idea someone has come up with so far you've disregarded without even checking. so take it to someone, or go right back to square one and start with the basics. inspect/clean connectors, check timing (not just at idle), check voltage to coil, check fuel pressure and flow rates, check the lines to the FPR, maybe even try replacing it, do a comp test (it could be a valve problem), check valve clearances too, check all sensors - you say you have a nissan workshop manual - they typically have quite detaillled troubleshooting information as well. if all else fails, maybe try starting another thread about it!

there's a control panel in the boot? my TPS failed recently causing the attessa kick in when you turn the wheel sharp under about 20kph. which obviously made it bind up trying to reverse out the driveway turning onto the street. A new TPS was $144 genuine. But we don't know if that's your problem yet. have you checked fault codes?

they may have unrestricted highways in NT, but I'm sure they still have dangerous driving charges.... -
Mines R34 In Australia
hrd-hr30 replied to Swiper the Fox's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
really? here's just one example: 1998 Ferrari Testarossa. $139K and 22000km. -
I'd like to see the 20mm lower lip. I have to remove the lip to get my car on the trailer going to events which is a right PITA, so a lip that's quicker and easier to R&R would be great. a bit lower is a bonus for track work. If they look good, I'll take one

a good place to start for the axle tramp problem would be to check your shocks.

What Speeds Can You Get To?

hmmm.... trying to figure out what racetrack has a long enough straight for you to test this -
they probably are getting bugger all voltage, but its more likely down to the crappy old switch gear and low amp cable to the headlights in the factory loom. rewire with relays and serious cable.

good stuff - seems to work out spot on with my R32 GTR which from the speedo roughly gives 120kph in 2nd, 180 in 3rd, shifting at 8000rpm. Looks like its actually 118.4 and 175.2. Close enough for me. I think I hit about 220kph going into the Caltex Chase at Bathurst on the run where I got a tow behind a sport sedan down the straight and didn't lift through the kink - but its hard to get more than a quick glance at the speedo in those circumstances! Plus its a 300kph speedo, so its hard to be too accurate with the lines being quite close together at the best of times, let alone at over 200 going into the Chase right up the arse of a sport sedan... I've also heard the top speed for a standard R32 is 250kph - I think I read that in a Julian Edgar Zoom article when he first got that Aus-delivered GTR he crashed  Not sure what his source was. As you can see from djr81's specs above, 5th is a real overdrive, so it wouldn't surprise me that it isn't able to put on too much speed in 5th. -

rarest skyline? C110 GTR. I think it was 92 built. -
what's the format - do you use one track each day? I hate the Sprint circuit, but would love to have a run on the other two - haven't been to QR since 2001!
