I've got a set of 245/40 R18 Nitto NT01's tracked once on my Soarer. And by once I mean one 5 lap session before the car had a problem and I had to park it. I'll sell them for $950 the set of 4 + freight. Can get pics tonight. Happy to drop them at an e-go depot. I'm building a Datsun track car now and have no real need or desire to track the Soarer anymore, and 18s aren't going to be any good for my 120Y!

mate, you're the one who said it's no wonder he get's boo'd because of comments like that. The fact is, people like you are just dying to find something to hate him for. Doesn't mater what he does. The finger waving has been cut right back for the last few wins, but why? Every driver waves a finger when they win! Why does it only become an issue when Vettel does it? That's right, because people are dying to find something to hate him for. The second stop nonsense is another example of the completely unfounded RBR conspiracy against Webber. His second stint was 14 laps. The average second stint of all the 3 stoppers was 14.6 laps. That's bang on a perfect 3 stop strategy, not an exceptionally early pit stop to hurt Webber's race. The lap before the second pit stop, he lost 2.1sec to Grosjean! Looked like he had burnt the tyres up closing the gap and trying to pass Grosjean in the previous 3 laps. It was almost 15sec with 13 laps to go. Then it was about 10sec with 11 laps to go and Vettel closing in fast on fresh tyres. For Mark to go to the end on the Hard tyres without pitting would have meant going further than anyone else did on those tyres. Webber has never been known for being gentle on tyres, and he was running a lower downforce setup to try and improve his overtaking chances, that also meant more tyre wear. Everyone knows what happens to these Pirelis when you stay out on them too long. There's no conspiracy to find here. Webber wasn't fast enough. They also told Vettel the same thing early on - to hold a 2sec gap to Mark. It is commonplace for teams to advise their driver sto stay 2sec back to conserve their tyres if they can't pass the guy in front. It's been happening all season. And last season... This is the lamest conspiracy theory yet.

Title has already been well and truly wrapped up! It's only purely mathematical chances left. Vettel's got a 90 point lead and there's a maximum of 100 points left FFS. Anyone suggesting Alonso is stil in the hunt is delusional. As much as I'm not a fan of Grosjean, that was a good drive. Just shoulda been more forceful with Webber, who only got him in the end because of traffic. Webber defending in the same situation would have had the other guy up against the pit wall!

This is a perfect example of why he gets boo'd. That comment was one out a series about Perez he was catching and didn't want to get held up. Not about Webber, as all the haters immediately assumed. Agree with ctjet & dezz - Webber had the chance with the faster tyre and a 10 lap sprint to the end but couldn't pass Grosjean. Vettel blew past the same guy on the slower Hard tyres while Grosjean's rubber was fresher and faster... If Vettel had struggled to pass Grosjean like Mark did they would have all been right there together. But he made it look easy - so easy he didn't even need the DRS to make his pass!

it was Grosjean who buckled under pressure. race summary:
-
Nah, Grosjean's his boy - he doesn't think Hulk can handle pressure!
-
KERS is heavily controlled. Limited to a maximum of 80bhp (in or out) and is monitored in every car. The smart money says there is no more to these rumours than there was to the last RBR traction control rumours about Webber's car at Canada.
-
"Furthermore, that sound was only heard when Vettel chalked up his excellent performances," added Minardi. "For example, after the safety car went in. In those moments it was more powerful (sounding) than any other engines -- Renault and the other brands." ah, it was the kind of traction control that gives your engine more power! Minardi having a seniors moment I reckon.

that's the one I use. Some can also do oil temp/pressure as well I think. It uses a thermocouple bolted to the head. Fit it under a thermostat housing bolt. It doesn't have the option to use a normal coolant sensor. It is better than a normal coolant sensor because it doesn't have to be immersed in coolant to read an accurate temperature. ie if you get a leak, a gauge using a normal immersed sensor is useless - it can even read cooler than normal when the engine is overheating.
-
Engine Gaurdian. Digital display. Thermocouple temperature gauge and alarm. Has outputs to control thermo fans at whatever temp you choose. 2 alarm levels, again at whatever temp you choose. Alarms are visual and buzzer. No Tee-ing into coolant lines so doesn't cause any new potential failures like the popular japanese Tee into the top hose does. Not dependant on having full coolant to work accurately. There's a few different models. $120-$150 on ebay last time I bought one. I've been using them for years and have them on all my cars - track car, 4WD, everyday car .
-
Track days are unlikely to have any problem with them. Supersprints - depends. NSW supersprints have their own rules which are very different to the rest of the country. the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres... I don't know anyone who buys them for motorsport here. Can't say what they'd actually be like. I think they're OE on some Porsches though. Maybe talk to someone in a Porsche Club at sprints?

The best bang for buck atm imo is the Hankook Z214 2 groove tyres. Not a true semi though, so it depends if what you do allows them to be used. They're cheap (similar to the FZ201s were in 17" sizes) and extremely quick. Otherwise, in true semi slicks, there is probably no standout bang for buck options. The cheap options like Toyo and Nitto are lower performance than the FZ201s were, and the fast rubber like Hankook, Yokohama and Dunlop are more expensive. The Hankook Z221 is probably the fastest true semi available now, and its cheaper than the Yokohama and Dunlop rivals so it's probably the best value. I didn't mention Kumho because they seem a bit hit and miss - on cars they suit they are really fast, on cars they don't suit they're just average, and on some cars they tend to delaminate or blowout - like my 180SX using the same geometry that the R888 and FZ201 didn't have any dramas with.

here's the last session (5 laps) recorded on my 1hz iPhone lap timer app compared to the transponder timing at Lakeside, in Nev's Z at Lakeside last week (I had to park my car after the first session so I put the iPhone in Nev's Z) : as you can see the errors on those last 5laps are 0.02, 0.01, 0.03, 0.01, and 0.05 If a 10hz GPS timer's accuracy is an order of magnitude worse, something's wrong!
-
yeah that's +/-0.2s sounds bad. I have a crappy old 1hz GPS timer and it is always within a few hundreths of the transponder times at the 3 different tracks I've used them both at.

I give the Pirellies about 8 seconds

Rules say stay off the track until all cars are off the track in parc ferme. Simple. Two cars had to dodge the parked Ferrari on the exit of the blind corner. Webber was running around on the race track in front of one of those cars who had to alter his path to miss both him and the Ferrari. The other had to go off the track to avoid them. A reprimand doesn't seem out of order at all.
-
both Mercedes swered to avoid Webber/Alonso parked on the exit of the blind corner. Go to 1:10 (I did the copy at current time thing, but it doesn't seem to have worked here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXMCLiAvzg8&feature=player_embedded#t=72
-
Webber & Alonso only got a reprimand. Webber got a 10 spot grid penalty because that was his third reprimand. When you watch this, I reckon he's lucky that's all he got!
-
think it was here last year he got mega sideways passing someone on the outside of a turn - never seen anyone catch an F1 car from that crossed up before!

http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/ferrari-said-no-to-hulkenberg-via-text-message-manager/ I can see Lotus wanting to go for the experience of Massa with the regs changing so much next year. Will Massa be willing to take that much of a paycut? It's probably the only way to stay in F1 other than a thankyou seat at Sauber from Ferrari.
-
The Sauber's a dog this year, and that's why he's at the forefront of people's minds!
-
and then get forgotten about like Perez at McLaren. No other top team will be looking at him. Nup, you've got to make your move to a top team count. Don't waste it on Lotus.
-
The thing is, most drivers only get one shot at a drive for a major team. Don't blow it on the wrong seat. Lotus is the wrong seat. Kimi/Alonso is bound to blow up in their faces with one bloke leaving or being dumped. Perez is unlikely to be re-signed by McLaren imo. Button's getting a bit long in the tooth as well. RB young driver program is normally very quick to dump drivers if they don't instantly live up to expectations too. Although we are in uncharted teritory as to how long they give a young gun in the main team. Plenty of good seats could be coming up in 2015. And by then the drivers will have an idea of the pecking order of the new cars & drivetrains.
-
ok - no point signing to the other team that's only fast in one set of circumstances and can't pay their drivers. still better off waiting for those top two or three seats to open up imo than locking into Lotus.
-
Lotus said earlier that if Kimi leaves that would help Grosjean keep his seat for 2014 as it would give them some continuity. I hope Hulk does not sign for Lotus. He'd be better off waiting for a better seat. It will only take a year for two or three top seats to open up I reckon. Keep over-performing in the Sauber for one more year. Don't sign to the team that's only fast in one particular set of conditions and barely has money to pay their drivers.
