  1. If you want to be competitive in Superlap, you need to get this idea completely out of your head, unless you're thinking of Clubsprint class.
  2. haha, on current standings/form, I reckon Button's most likely to be leading if they "had a whip like the RB7"
  3. yep, one of your best. Must have been the "13kg of testicle" that usurped control of the vehicle when he passed Alonso at Spa!
  4. good one Ian. Welcome to the sub 60 club! I like the look over at the wall after that warm-up oops! lol these would be my tips: 1. Carousell - not wide enough in the middle of the corner to get a good exit which is important for the back 'straight'. 2. Turning in a bit too early for the bridge, which is why you end up wide right out at the edge of the road. 3. Hungry - use all the road. you're coming in far too tight. Should be over near the gaurd rail before you turn in. 4. Eastern Loop. Looks like you're coming in too hot and just washing out to no-man's land. Fast line is right the way round the inside. 5. might be turning in a bit too early on Shell corner too (onto the front straight), but that's not a massive problem with the widened front straight. watch scooby36's vids for a masterclass in Lakeside's lines.
  5. that video was obviously the aftermarket OS Giken Twin Cam head for the L series motor, not an LZ or FIA head.
  6. Pirelli are bringing the two softest tyres, so Ferrari should be right in the hunt here. Go Alonso!
  7. It was supposed to be in SA this year according to the previous ASSC sporting regs, but that's changed somewhere along the line since last year. You can see the changes made to the schedule in the sporting regs: http://www.camsmanual.com.au/pdf/03_speed/SP10_Supersprint_SportingRegs_Q311-1.pdf I don't have any real hope for national rules. QLD SuperSprinters do not want to change from the CAMS multi-car simultaneous start SuperSprint format to the single car at intervals Sprint format used in NSW. And tbh there's not much interest from the competitors at Warwick in hosting National Sprint Championship up here again after being forced to use Sprint rules at the last minute instead of the Supersprint rules that were publised in the Supp Regs last year. So I can't see the Warwick Sporting Car Club putting its hand up again, and that's the only CAMS track and club left up here really. QR sort-of is too, but it's been cost prohibitive for CAMS clubs to hire the track for the past decade, with QR being a bit anti-competitive with its hire costs to outside clubs making their own sprint events much cheaper. As a result we've lost some CAMS Clubs who used to organise sprint events, like my old club SPARC. Pretty much the only one still doing it is Warwick Districts Sporting Car Club.
  8. seems like the Vehicle Type Regs have changed to allow imports in any of the Types now, is that right? My 180SX is unlikely to be ready by then. I wonder if the Aristo might be competitive in the near-stock Type 2 over 3L class... think I still have the stock intercooler somewhere...
  9. Silvias are becoming popular in CAMS Improved Production racing, and can be as good bang for buck option as any race car will ever be.
  10. sounds like a plan
  11. I'll be there watching too
  12. he's not in the list of most overtaken, but he has done more than his fair share of passing. from cliptheapex... Most overtaking moves (season): Jenson Button 67 Michael Schumacher 59 Mark Webber 58 Felipe Massa 55 Sebastien Buemi 52
  13. easy. its like drag racing. its about your average speed down the straight. accelleration in the first half of the straight is better than in the second half because every mph you put on earlier is carried for a longer distance. Hamilton's gearing was probably better for laptimes, and he was banking on being ahead of Vettel at the 1st turn thanks to starting on the clean side. Alonso ruined that plan. Schumacher's gearing was probably based on him making a few spots on the start, as he usually does, and then being able to hold onto the positions by outdragging everyone - you've got to play to your strengths, and corners are not the Merc's strong suits.
  14. that's not defending Hamilton, it's pointing out one of his mistakes.
  15. bbc.co.uk tells me all I need to know about their opinions on that dice without bothering to read it...
  16. lol, its not meant to be easy mate - he's not getting lapped. I doubt it would have taken Schumacher in a McLaren 27 laps to pass Hamilton in a Mercedes... Schumacher made him look very ordinary. As did Jenson for that matter! And that's before we even mention the restart where the oldest bloke in the field caught the young star napping... Maybe Hamilton should hang up the gloves if he can't pass this old washed up bloke in less than 27 laps.
  17. got no business trying to claim a corner with your front wing alongside a rear wheel... you have to establish yourself alongide before you have any right to the inside line. That's just proper hard racing from Schumacher, and a half-arsed attempt by Hamilton.
  18. pretty obvious the old bloke would still go alright in a better car. he gave Hamilton a proper lesson in racecraft last night.
  19. 27 more laps maybe
  20. if only you had some sort of turbocharged Nissan...
  21. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=11 but age is still only part of the story. compound and how many heatcycles the tyre's had (if it wasn't bought new) are the other big factors.
  22. absolutely mental. would not get me into that thing at a hillclimb, but would pay money to see some nutcase try it!
  23. its held every year. they invite drivers from various disciplines - rally, F1, touring cars etc to compete on a mickey-mouse indoor track like a scaled down WRC Super special stage with various buggies and weird open wheelers like KTM X-bow.
  24. let's hope its a wet race then...
