yeah, but you've never used the R888 semis. Worst semi I've ever used by a long way! I went from KU36 to R888 and the only advantage was a bit of corner exit traction. I doubt they have any more lateral grip than the KU36. Having driven on both, I would buy the KU36 over the R888s any day of the week. -

you guys aren't going to miss proper battles for position like this? that will never happen again as long as we have DRS. All Damon would have to do is wait for the DRS activation zone and cruise on by. Would you rather see that or a DRS fly-past? Its not supposed to be easy to pass. Its supposed to be a battle. We were robbed of that between Webber and Alonso last weekend. Passing is supposed to take skill, maybe a bit of cunning and an element of risk. They're the things that make it exciting. Even if they don't make the move stick, and end up remaining behind, its the battle that's interesting. This instant undefendable passing is more boring to me than seasons with less than 200 passes. What's exciting about knowing that bloke is about to easily breeze past in the DRS zone? I want to see a bit of real racing, rather than the 200 mostly fake passes we've been "treated" to in the past 2 races. Maybe its just me. Maybe I'm too old. How do you catch ADD? I think that would help. I can honestly say DRS has taken all the appeal out of F1 for me. This just doesn't look or feel like Gran Prix racing. Its the battles that make Grands Prix great, not having the greatest tally of passes. People remember stuff like Damon and Schuey @ Spa, Prost and Senna, even Jones and Prost in 81, etc etc. Who's going to look back in 10 years time and say "do you remember that 15 second battle between Alonso and Webber for 2nd place in the 2011 The land of goat sphincter rings GP?"

yeah, I like how there is so little talk of Kobayashi's drive this weekend. Made 1 spot less than Mark in the previous race. Only in a Sauber - which is no Red Bull... and people weren't hanging onto their tyres too long this time around... because of all the stuff haphazardly happening every 2 seconds in the race, people haven't noticed what actually happened overall. It was near impossible to follow for the commentators let alone the plebs at home with added commercial breaks and Greg Rust's awesomeness added to the mix. That alone would dazzle anyone's concerntration. One day his oversized head will topple off that tiny little body, I'm sure of it...

not in my view. Its robbing us of the racecraft of passing another car. Look at the last session of the race where Webber caught and passed Alonso for 2nd place in the GP!!! That should have been a hard fought battle going on for several laps. Good cars/drivers can pass here even in the same machinery, let alone with a faster car(plenty of example of that from previous years). Without DRS Alonso would have had a fighting chance to defend his 2nd place in the Gran Prix with his racecraft. DRS robbed us of that spectacle of two drivers going at it, instead all we saw was a simple cakewalk for Webber. But the ADD generation who think constant passing is great for fans would be happy because its another check in the overtaking tally for the race. I realise Alonso only got past Mark to second with the same use of DRS, and I'm just as dissapointed with that too - it would have been another battle to sort it out instead of just another boring automatic pass. DRS is sucking the fight right out of Gran Prix racing.

there was plenty of that last year too without the need for this fake/artificial passing. and not just for faster cars on slower cars, but also from teammates with equal cars. All this stuff is just so unnecessary! Its like a game of AFL or basketball (as Ben suggested) where you just expect to score everytime you get anywhere near the goal. I don't like it. Takes the skill out of "making" a pass. Its not supposed to be easy to pass. And just because you have the faster car should not mean you automatically get to pass the guy in front of you. You're supposed to have to work for it. They've probably worked hard with their drive and strategy to get there and now its impossible to keep that hard won advantage. Its not motorsport. It just doesn't feel right to me. Its the skill and difficulty of overtaking that makes it exciting. The automatically getting alongside someone if you're close to them does very little for me. Even leaving aside the past 2 races where its been alot more than just getting them alongside - its left the lead car all but defenceless. That's not motorSPORT. would it be as popular if instead of drag reduction for the following car, they cut power/revs to the leading car? Then maybe more people would see it the way I do.

lol - SR20 F1 would be awesome! but I think they're talking about 1400cc. They definitely are able to follow closely even in high speed sections. I reckon there would be passing without DRS. Look at last year for example - it had plenty of action without all this shit and was a great championship battle. This is not the Schumacher I know... He never admitted mistakes before. He's also said "the joy is gone". I think he's about to call it quits again. Hopefully he can put in some decent performances to end on a better note.

yeah there certainly was alot of expectation on Mercedes to deliver this weekend. And Schumacher's poor qualy (1.1sec behind Rosberg) after being so fast all through practice put him under extra pressure. Where did all thier pre-race pace evaporate to when the red lights went out?

Schumacher really hacked it up! I have NFI what to make of that first incident. The squeeze move was OK and had the desired effect - made the other guy overshoot the apex. Surely he didn't just turn into his back wheel intentionally? The only thing that was ever going to do was damage his own wing. He must have been trying for the under and over move, but how does someone with that much experience get it that wrong? I was hoping for good things after his strong showing in practice too. Very dissapointed.

not liking the KERS and DRS and fall apart Pirellis at all. I was sort of sitting on the fence until now, but I can't stand it. Its like if you get within a second of the guy in front, its a free ticket to pass. It was barely any harder to pass in the DRS zone last round either. Waiting for drivers to start waving people through in the DRS zone in protest. Sure there's alot of action on the track, but in my view, too much. The telecast can't show half of it, let alone the pits stops. And there's too many of them too! So you have NFI who's stopped, who hasn't, what tyres they're on and what the real positions are. Its F1 for the ADD generation. Sad to say F1 has become to racing what AFL is to football, with its 100+ points each per game. Its for those with short attention spans. Don't like. Actually with the fakeness of the passing its more like WWF.

Googled him: Street Commodores says, "Jason is currently fitting up his 12in wide ROH wheels and mid-way through a wide-body conversion to help the car in the aerodynamics and traction department" And on calaisturbo the owner said it's "1380kg with driver before the nine inch, so bloody heavy with that in". He also said he hasn't driven it with this engine/power or on semis. I couldn't find any times for the car except drag and dyno results.

What a champion. So that's how he secured one championship, another he won with less points than Prost because they only counted the best 11 (from 16) results back then! WTF? And the 3rd all his rivals had at least 5 retirements and he only suffered 1.

No Ben, just calling out someone taking the usual stab at Ferreri only winning because they have the most money. And the Senna thing has always pissed me off. He wasn't really even the standout of his era, let alone of all time. There was a whole host of drivers that could mix it up with him. Its just the power of the media.

yeah no one else in F1 spends extravagent amounts of money. more money does not automatically eqaul a winning car, let alone complete dominance. you may have to look a bit depper than that.

End of story. mix that with the nostalgia of the 'good ol days' and he's gone from someone known during his career as a fierce rival for Prost and who really only beat Prost because he'd either crash into him or slam the door to make Prost avoid a crash, to some sort of martyred F1 saint.

there's nothing in any rally regs about damaged/written off cars, but they have to be road registered, so the normal rules apply there...

my suggestion is get along to a few track days/sprints with your road car to start with. where you are has alot to do with who's running events and whether its cams or aasa licenced. some track days at certain venues don't require any competition licence.

deadset. This whole time I've been giving the reasons why Webber was the fastest during the race! Take the "Harry's saying Webber is shit" blinkers off ffs. The only thing you're spinning is what you're hearing. I bet for example you're willing to put Perez and Barichello passing Webber down to other factors such as better rubber rather than them being more awesome drivers? If better rubber can get a Sauber and Williams to pass Webber in the Red Bull, imagine what green rubber on the best car in the field can do - oh wait, you don't have to imagine Meh, nothing's as subjective as who is the best overtaker. So I won't comment on that. But I will say that one of the big reason's Kobayashi is rated as a great (or at least exciting) overtaker is because he makes that car punch above its weight. I'd wager its a little harder to pass people with a Sauber than a Red Bull.

2 stopping was theoretically quicker on their computer sims assuming: 1)running in clean air, and 2)that tyre life would be 25% better in the final stint. It wasn't. So even for the guy running in clean air, 2 stopping was not the fastest way. its not a coincidence the 2 guys up for the "drives of the day" 3 stopped.

what was I thinking? It wasn't the fastest car, it just put in the fastest lap by a measly 1.4seconds!!! And Webber had the 9 of the 10 fastest laps of the race! It (the Red Bull) also happened to be fastest in Prac 1, Prac 2, Prac 3 and Qualy, as well as the race. I think it was neccesarily the fastest car there. The stopwatch doesn't lie. And with his full compliment of softs still green for the race he also had far and away the best/fastest tyres for the race of anyone on the grid. Those comments are neither negative or positive, just factual. (almost) every pass has to be made on the dirty side of the track. there just isn't room for 2 cars on the racing line. this is the problem with one-eyed Webber enthusiasm. He's exceptional (compared to the others presumably) for doing what they all do. This is what shits me.

oh, and I also think its worth mentioning that Webber ceretainly got the better of RBR's pit strategies this weekend. That's something Webber fans often point out as some sort of conspiracy theory about RBR favouritism when it works against him.

didn't say he was rubbish. but, since you asked, the passes he made in the second half of the race were against a Lotus Renault on hard tyres, a couple of cars trying to make softs go long on 2 stop strategies, and 1 maybe 2 people desperately conserving fuel to make it to the end of the race. Mark was in the fastest car on the grid and on the best, newest rubber anyone in that part of the field had by a long way. He stil had to get it done, but the words candy and baby come to mind.
