  1. Works are out of ROTAs league too mate. They're low pressure cast. Cheapies like ROTAs would be gravity cast. and that's to say nothing of the material used
  2. temperature strips or paint on both the calipers and wheels may be something to consider next time out if you are worried about heat
  3. Are any of the other GTRs out there doing sprints breaking other brands of wheels? If the only wheels breaking are ROTAs, they're shithouse by comparison. If they break because you drove through a puddle, that's really shithouse! If they break because they're on a 1700kg car running slicks and agressively curb hopping... well, plenty of people would have suggested they weren't fit for that purpose from the start... sorry, I just don't understand the logic of not blaming the wheels for breaking after such a short period of time. that's true, but 6 months and approx 40 sessions (that's only about 8-10 track days) is not a reasonable lifespan IMO.
  4. yes, but it was also a very short life. 6 months? at least you got away without any damage from it!
  5. I think Mark has lifted his game this month. I'm not a huge patriotic Weber fan, in fact I used to think he was a bit of a hack, but its hard to deny he's at the peak of his game and faster than Vettel now. 3 races in a row is more than just luck. except that he did leave Seb room!
  6. x3 for not even remotely the same situation. my 2c is this - if you want to try and squeeze someone once you have half a car in front; a) make sure they have enough time to react to it b) make sure you are not alongside someone who isn't likely to be pushed around Webber had already cut the kid a brake - anyone else would have been run onto the grass before they got that far up. Don't tell me he didn't take it easy on his teammate! lol
  7. its a common misconception that stronger is better. What stronger actually means is more force transferred to the head and brain than energy absorbed in the helmet. also your comments about the Australian standards are incorrect:
  8. nice aleks! Carnell is such a fun little track here's an in-car vid from my 180 at Lakeside yesterday. Another 4 tenths off the PB with some setup changes and cooler conditions. The standard viscous LSD really isn't up the the job! but even so i don't really think I should be getting this much wheelspin with 240 wide rear slicks. Last time out, and the first time I used the slicks, I had so much traction it was boring - may as well have been driving an Evo But not anymore. Think they may not like the constant heat cycling? They seem to be taking longer to come up to temp too, but it was a much cooler day... Anyway, here it is. Lap 3 is a 58.9
  9. 2k won't even get you the first set! not of anything competitive anyway.
  10. hehe my real question is does that mean 1250 kg total on the scales while in a windtunnel? So 1250-1125=125kg of actual downforce?
  11. what's 1250lg of downforces?
  12. I dunno, seems to me only the Cyber Evo and Scion have any real power to weight advantage over the HPE... And that's only the one aspect of performance. The Lotus platform has many other advantages - scale-model-like frontal area, low low low Cg, low polar moment of inertia, factory developed aero, etc Then factor in years of development on our tracks in our conditions with a very fast driver at the wheel who's very familiar with EC and the car. They won't be easy to beat IMO - if they are on the right tyres... there's no doubt they left a second or two behind due to tyre choice last time.
  13. 280mm wide slick isn't all that small. I'm going with 32 for open because the Lotus wasn't any slower on semis than slicks last time they ran in 2008 on the Kumho V70. A very good local driver in a very well sorted car, I think will be hard to beat.
  14. I don't know much about Eastern Creek so I'm probably way off but PRO - I agree witht he general concensus, 32. OPEN - I don't really know the track or cars well enough to make any sensible guess. How good is the Lotus Boz is driving? CLUB - I can't really see people being faster than 46 on street rubber.
  15. dynolicious I've been using it, but I think it would probably be better if they used GPS for the speed and distance rather than trying to derive those from accellerometer, time and clever maths. Good comparitive tool, but the performance figures seem a bit off to me.
  16. any parts store. it would be a good idea to take a sample.
  17. 17x8 +35 fronts with 25mm spacer 17x9 +18 rears I didn't even know what they were when I bought the car. I was worried they might be a bit dodgy when I saw "Made in Russia" stamped into the back of them! lol
  18. cool. It will be good to see a NA V8 in amongst it!
  19. no pic, but it's hung from a chain looped around an exposed hardwood beam.
  20. GTR wheels: 5/114.3 16x8 +30 from memory. they're forged wheels too, btw
  21. I don't have alot of room, and its nothing flash like the links posted, but its functional. Several cars have been built under here. Decent size work bench made from hardwood left over from building the fence, with a thick marine ply top, capped with steel sheet. Some old shelving a mate removed from his workshop when he moved in there and set it up the way he wanted it. An old cupboard for lockable tool storage. And a couple of extra flouro lights from a mate who's a shopfitter removed from old fit-outs. A little TV so I don't have to miss any motorsport or cricket while I'm tinkering... you can't see the beer fridge in the other corner Have been meaning to line the interior walls and do something with the floor for a while now.
  22. AASA is where its at! Run what ya brung fun ftw!
  23. located northside of Brisbane 2 tyres with good tread, the other 2 are shagged. Minor guttering on a couple of rims, but in good overall condition $500 Harry 0400 656 191
  24. same thing happened to a mate in NSW who bought my GTR. I think the cars brought in under the old 15yr rule just had compliance certified by Mod Plate in QLD, and it was only a minimal compliance requirement for them. My GTR and Safari were both brought in under that scheme. Unfortunately QLD Transport mod plates only mean anything in QLD. So he had to go through the compliance process again in NSW before he could register it there. Later imports (and all cars since the 15yo rule was shut down) have full compliance done and no mod plates.
