  1. way to go Danny Mischok! a driver with at least 10 years experience in IPRA circuit racing even manages to look like a total fkwit in a field of noobs in their road cars! good work mate! looks like I'll be back in the Supra instead of the Datto this weekend...
  2. that was good hard racing! Did very well to hold him out for a few laps there. I think Weber crossed the line (so to speak) defending against Massa in a similar fashion though - once they get up beside you on a straight you have no business driving them off the racetrack.
  3. lol a wall would have been pretty damn handy in turn 1 mate! then there would have been no-one for Massa to run into in that chicane!
  4. its life mate, if you are leading the championship by a handful of points and passing your main rival, squeeze him at your own peril! who was it that said "no-one will ever pass me on the outside again"??? if I mouthed off like that I'd be very careful about putting my car on the outside of anyone in a corner lol the Bordais decision was just f**ked up if you ask me. That's for position and he had the inside line. Fair bump, play on. But if you penailse Massa for the same thing with Hamo I guess you have to be consistent eh?
  5. it does a bit sideways under the bridge in 4th - no idea what speed but this was on my fastest lap after passing the STi that had been holding me up and a super sexy Z with RB30 turbo
  6. if you're using GPS signal to determine where the car is in relation to a start/finish line, and you only know where the car is at best every 0.2 of a second, you have a resolution of 0.2sec with an accuracy of +/-0.4sec as you have to cross that nominated start finish line twice per lap to start and stop the timing. Any times you give to an apparently greater accuracy are just approximations based on interpolation of the data - at best.
  7. well laughing boy, maybe I should have been clearer. it doesn't have built in GPS fuctionality like the other units being discussed. but it CAN log GPS and lap times, IF you connect an external GPS unit, and you can even see your lap times on the fly like any other lap timer IF you add the engine monitor. anyway, lmao right back at ya if you actually mean what you said - lap timing at 1 to 5hz. 1hz = timing to the second 5hz = timing to 0.2 of a second I think most people would be looking for tenths as a minimum resolution for lap time information to actually be useful/meaningful. So it doesn't really do lap timing either.
  8. vbox mini is the driftbox. performance box is the cheaper version of that without the yaw sensor. can get the performance box for $850 from Racer Industries. Its a little bit pricey for what it does in lap timing mode - lap time, up to 6 split times and speed at splits.
  9. lol, I probably would now...
  10. doubt Paul's data logger has anything to do with GPS or lap timing. I saw a thread on the same thing over at the IPRA forums earlier in the week - might be helpful: http://www.techmasters.com.au/forum/viewto...?f=2&t=3802
  11. morgan park is OK. certainly alot better than QR but there's no heart in the mouth corners at Morgan Park, and its all pretty low speed. But there are a few more technical corners than QR that's for sure. I think the old short track A out the front is still probably the most technical layout they have. That was great with the blind corner at the top of the hill and the curvy braking area for the hairpin. Don't know if they still use that for a round of the Supersprint series these days. I haven't run there since 2004 I think, apart from a somewhat shortened test day last year.
  12. I think the word you are looking for Noel is "challenging". QR isn't, Lakeside is. All it takes to be fast at QR is power and brakes. Lakeside requires a driver too. Double Apexes, changing cambers mid corner, blind exit to the bumpy high speed sweeper under the bridge, uphill and downhill turns and a lack of run-off area to seperate the men from the boys. but the kink is easy - can take that flat in the Supra on Federal road tyres! its under the bridge that's the real challenge to take flat out!
  13. my car's already on the trailer! is it Saturday yet???
  14. anyone see Targa West coverage on TV on Saturday? R35 GTR on original equipment tyres driven by unkown 23yo listening to doof doof music beats Jim Richards' Porsche GT2 fair and square... more tissues porsche?
  15. There's only one proper tarmac rally in QLD, the Suncoast Classic. It wasn't run this year but will be back in 2009. The 2007 event was prety good. I was a Stage Safety Officer so got to drive some of the stages under closed conditions. They had some nice roads.
  16. of course its exactly the same. TopGear sold the rights to the format... wtf else were they going to do but an Aussie version of the exact same thing? it was always going to be lame, but these guys took it to a whole new level. Stig totally summed up how pathetic Aus TopGear is. Tip for SBS/TopGear Aus - if you have a bloke who can't drive for shit, don't show in-car footage of the hamfisted clot! The sooner these 8 episodes flop miserably, so we can all move on and forget it ever existed, the better!
  17. SSS Automotive race one too. Not as competitively as BSM/Loftus you will need to spend an absolute fortune to make one competitive, and be prepared to keep replacing front diffs. Far better off buying the 2nd BSM car if its still for sale. It finished 6th or 7th in the 2007 Nationals IIRC. Sport Sedans of some of the Sports Car categories would be a better choice for racing an R32 GTR IMO, 3J is just far too restrictive on Late Model turbo cars and you need to spend serious coin to work around that.
  18. how to go faster is sorted - they're letting me run the Datto! Showed them the old Zoom feature on it when it used to be registered and the SAE Engineer reports approving all the mods for road use, and promised it would be as quiet as the Supra I have been running. So we're all set. I haven't been this excited about a track day in... I dunno... ever! also a bit scared about what it might be like under the bridge - the Supra is fast enough to be scarey there in the fast bumpy RH sweeper... the Datsun with more speed, leaf spring rear end and slow ratio steering is a very different prospect! but I can't wait!
  19. well, it did change when the full results came out! http://www.qldraceways.com.au/lakeside_spr...ints_points.mht Quinny beat me in his caged Sierra RS500 with a 61.45, and one of those damn GTR shitboxes pipped me as well! lol Jeremy Norris in a white R33 with a 61.47. Did nice flameouts into Hungry too! They've moved the date for next round forward too. Its now Sat Oct 11 - that's Bathurst weekend, but I'll definitely be there! Just got to work out how to go faster!!!
  20. that's a pretty heavy hit to do that to a solid old Falcon! good to see it back out on the track later though. I got a new PB by 1.4sec thanks to the new tyres, so I'm very happy. Ran a best of 62.16. Far too hot for really good times though. I think there's probably still half a second to find from the car the way it is. I think the only car that was faster was the SIV or V RX7 turbo on michelin porsche sup slicks (60.9) which really aren't allowed (road legal tyres are supposed to be required) so I'm claiming a moral victory* Thankfully there were no actual fast car/driver combos there! *of course this might change when the full results come out!
  21. entries and groupings for Sunday are here we're in the same group Ben
  22. if you sent the entry yesterday for this Sunday, I'd give them a call to check you got in. I know 2 people who tried to enter yesterday who were told entries were full. Hope you did though - crazy fast car! There's a very rapid Suzuki Swift coming on the weekend that should be some good competition for you!
  23. me too. I hear they also want to change the run onto the front straight to slow the cars down
  24. if they haven't called you, you're in Had a couple of mates who tried to enter and got calls saying it was full. I'll be there this weekend. New tyres are on, and feel pretty good so far, and its in at LEDA Suspension for a proper alignment today I faxed my entry in for the last remaining round on Oct 19 this afternoon. got a couple of other changes I want to make before that round...
  25. entries for Lakeside Sprints Rd3 this Sunday are closed with 65 entries accepted. There is 1 remaining round before the track is closed down for resurfacing and upgrades on October 19. Get your entries in now if you want to make sure you get in! Last chance to run the original circuit - they are planning on changing the cambers in the corners as part of the refurb, so if you want to experience the real Lakeside, its now or never! Its the fastest average speed track in the country with some very technical and challenging corners. Lap of Lakeside with Dick Johnson
