WOW... calm down..
I couldn't care less either way.
I think in this thread the thread creater has estabilished what he needed.
I would never buy another skyline no matter what (unless it's a V35). All the time slips and track records in the world could not convince me to put up with all the bull shit with owning another skyline (eg. wanna run bro, [at every set of lights]).
Greg
Throughout the corners the GTi-r gets the GTR every time (on this DVD). On the straight the Gti-R was not far from the GTR at all.
The dvd can be seen here: http://forum.gtiroz.net/viewtopic.php?t=487
Greg
Fair enough....
I know there are flaws, I'm not saying a gti-r is the best car in the world by any means.
Here's my opinion of the gti-r:
Overall they're a quick car.
Understeer stock and need a few grand spend on handling before they'll handle well.
They cost a shitload to run and are prone to breaking gearboxes.
But they are a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing which I'm sure will keep me happy
At the end of it all I suppose a gti-r and a GTR or GTS-T are completly different cars. But a gti-r will definately not cost less to keep running, and that's what was asked at the start of this thread.
Greg
I never said anything otherwise. Was merely stating that they do not use the same 4wd system as the GTR :S
It was a Jap one. I got it off the gti-r forums. It's on there.
I suppose it comes to personal prefference. I owned a 32 gts-t with GTR interior (I loved the seats) but i mean the dash and stuff isn't that different. A 32 isn't anything fancy and either is the gti-r. For their age they were both quite good for their interiors (in comparasson to locally delivered cars).
They are expensive cars to maintain, this is what I've said from the start. Going from a 33 gts-t to a gti-r to save money is not going to happen.
I can't believe I feel like im defending myself for voicing a personal opinion.
Greg
Mine hasn't landed yet.
My mates been through a few gearboxes and now has upgraded to a PAR gearset.
If it brakes I'l just upgrade too.
the interior is just as good as R32 GTR (seats are not as good) but dash etc. are just as good.
I'm not sure what number the best motoring dvd is. I'll see if there's anything on it to say what number it is.
At the end of the day I'm more happy going from a 251rwkw (safe tuned) R32 to a less than 180kw's at all 4's gti-r.
Greg
It was a bit of a once off special.
Under the 15 year rule too so it'll only cost me $1000 - $1250 to comply it.
Needs a respray, as do most 15 year old cars.
Greg
Take away 10k from that figure and thats what mine costed landed
then add that 10k that I saved and put it into mods and you've got a nice car that looks like a FWD piece of shit!!
I'm considering losing the vented bonnet and going fibreglass N14 SSS, painting the FMIC black and just making it look like a general rice burner.
Oh will be getting de-badged too (I might keep the pulsar badge there.. )
Greg
Hmmm.. I always thought they were both 13.9 vc 13.9... my bad
At the end of the day I rather a gti-r because not many people know what it is. I don't have to deal with people wanting to drag at every set of lights and ask "is it turbo" lol...
Just the stigma associated with owning a skyline really annoyed me. I loved that car
Greg
I'm not basing an argument on a DVD at all. I've been out to many cruises and a few track days and a gti-r stock VS stock or even mildly modded vs mildly modded are very close!!.
The gti-r handles better where as the GTR has a bit more go.
As the other guy said 1/4 mile times are almost identical on the R32 GTR VS gti-r.
Both the cars in the best motoring DVD were brand new and driven by guys from Nissan from what I can understand of it (its in Japanese)
Greg
The 4wd system is differnt in the gtir-s.
The GTi-R uses a constant 50-50 power distribution and is mechanical rather than electrical like the GTR.
Greg
Maybe you should check out the best motoring DVD then.
The GTi-R DESTROYS the GTR around corners!!!
This was on a track and over a fair distance.
That is an honest statement and not biased at all.
If I could upload the DVD I would.
Greg
Best motoring DVD had the gti-r VS an R32 GTR and the gti-r is up with the R32 GTR the whole way!! Around corners the GTi-r destroys the GTR, the only area the GTR was winning was the straights, even then the gti-r was very close. This was a test stock VS stock.
Greg
WOW....
They're pretty dirfferent cars, going from a 33 gts-t, to a gti-r to a Celsior.
A celsior is like a calais.. They are nice cars (gotta love the option of the rear seats electric massages)
Greg
I chose a reasonably stock gti-r over my 251rwkw R32 with RB25 conversion and every other goodie on the planet!!
Says something?
I think so
They do unersteer stock, but with a few k on handling, she'll be handling like a dream.
Greg
A gti-r will win over a 33 gts-t in handling, speed and just pure excitement.
Around a track or on a drag strip, stock VS stock a gti-r will DESTROY a GTS-T.
Greg
I went from a 251rwkws R32 to a Gtir, they're awesome cars!! Love them to bits!!!
I got quoted 2.7k a year, insured for only 15k and a 2.5k excess because of rims, and my age. I have a perfect driving history.
P.S Im 19.
Greg
Hi mate, I've just managed to get the flanges for them. They will be an additional $10 (saves getting them made up).
They will be in stock over the next few days.
cheers,
Greg
