  1. Best post in the last 2 pages. Can we move on??? MGS - got that exhaust on yet???
  2. Sounds like this event isn't for you, I'm sure there are heaps of drift events around where you can get your 'fix'. And far as you having no idea, we won't hold it against you..... In all seriousness the rules will not cater for everybody. Clubsprint class should be assigned to the weekend club guys that drive their own cars, but how can you prove the driver of the car actually owns it? At the end of the day the people in the know will acknowledge a very quick time from an owner driver, where as a 'hired' driver is expected to go really fast thus not having that 'wow' factor. Just my 2c.....
  3. At least he's punching out some ridiculously quick times!!! Well done Stuart, all the best for 2010...
  4. LOL... Bonnet was bought through Unique Autosports about four years ago, unfortunately they can't get them anymore. If you really want one I've seen them on Yahoo auctions. The only reason I'm getting rid of my brakes is that I got my hands on a complete front/rear V8 supercar Alcon setup. Unfortunately the current brakes are sold. New setup is going on in the next few weeks... Very neat car you have!! Those Autoselect canards are a nice bit of gear. What rims are those? Volk TE37 top secret edition?? Is the car registered?
  5. Nice car, love the 4wd modification in the s14 chassis, will surely surprise everyone on the track. Can clarify that 32 LCA's are definetly different to the 33/34 setup. They are definetly shorter. Check the Nismo catalogue, thay have different part numbers aswell. I know because I bought a second hand set, and was told by the seller they came of an R33. Went to put them on and they were shorter than my standard LCA's. Good luck with it all....
  6. Wow, look at the build quality on that exhaust system!!! Any chance of a youtube vid once installed? Would love to hear the bark of this beast....
  7. Ah, that makes sense then, your Wakefield time is extremely quick compared to the EC time. EC would be around the 1:43's with the current car??? 1:47 as benchmark time is very quick, and I'd say is achievable if conditions are great and the car is sorted. Just the mental state of the driver would be the decieding factor!!! LOL at cupucino gauge, just don't apply too much pressure!!
  8. These Evo's your talking about, they're doing 1:45's on street tyres??? If that's the case then the R35's are in trouble!! Warren Luff did a 1:45 in a R35 stocker.... As far as tyre pressures I wouldn't know, only time I raced on them was at Superlap, and from memory I think they did prefer a little more psi than the RE55's. As far as 34psi hot on RE55's, it's spot on what I use.... Remember use/borrow a pyrometer when you decide to practise/test out the car, this will determine what camber your car likes best at that track with those tyres. And looking at your sig you've done a 1:47 at EC with RE55's? So looks like it might be an up hill battle to get to 1:45's with streeties. Although looking at your 1/4 mile time seems like your car has heaps of mumbo, you'll definetly make up some time on the straight!!!!
  9. Steve, Looking at the results I was 3.7 sec behind John in the S2000. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results....07/2008.ORAN.SL I did my fastest lap on my 7th lap (second session), and the two sessions after that I didn't get much of a clear run. Third session was held up, and as you know there are not many places at OP GP to overtake. Last session of the day (4th), my car decided to shit a coil pack, so on 5 cylinders managed a 1:22. I'd say in the last session I would have had a good crack at getting into the 19's... Anyway enough of my excuses.... Best advice I can give you is that once you have selected your tyre of choice, get some practise and see how the car behaves. Get a pyrometer to measure temps of the tyre from inside, centre and outside. This will determine what sort of camber you'd need. You'd like to get the tyre having the same temp throughout. And it would be much better getting that practise at EC, what works at Wakefield will not necessaty work at EC.. As far as attending this year, I'll be there, but only to spectate. Unfortunately the effort and costs involved in getting the car to Sydney and accommodation etc... is too much. Maybe next year..
  10. Hey Steve, I was referring to RE55s, and they are usually wider than a street tyre due to side wall design. A 265 RE55 is wider than a standard 265 street tyre. Running the 285 RE55's did not give me a noticeable difference as far as performance/grip. Personally I would get some 265's and put the savings towards the entry fee for Superlap... I run -3.5 camber, and with 285 RE55's and had no clearance issues, so 285 street tyres on your car shouldn't be an issue. Another thing to consider is that if you're going to run street tyres for superlap don't run huge amounts of camber, the grip levels of the tyre will not load up the suspension enough to create an even contact patch for the tyre on to the road, causing chronic understeer. I did Superlap in '08 at OP GP and my car with 350rwkws had both understeer and oversteer problems due to insufficient grip from the Bridgestone RE-01R's (265/35/18). Managed a 1:20, so for my first time ever at that track wasn't too bad, but could have been better if I ran less camber on the front. Hope that helps...
  11. As long as your running a 10.5 inch wide rim then no problem. I have run both 265's and 285's and there was no real difference on the track, only the wallet....
  12. Engrish??? The guy is thinking about travelling 50m to get his car serviced, not 50kms..... I say do a search on the above mentioned workshops and see what people have to say about them....
  13. No chance, unless someone like Bozman was driving the 32/33/34. The R35's will dominate!!!!
  14. Nice. Have you had the GT2 on a dyno? Would be interesting to see what gains your getting with the new mods.
  15. Nothing wrong with that!!!! Can only imagine what this thing would be like at full noise in the higher gears. Any suspension mods on the cards???
  16. fungoolie - very accurate information, you can't argue with physics and enginnering!!! Very imformative, thanks for sharing... Roy - took me a good ten minutes to recover from that one!!!! Oh and sorry to MGS996TT for taking it off topic... Will this car see the track at all??
  17. Yep, don't mess with the mods, especially that R31Nismoid, he's not afraid to use his ban stick!!! Must say that GT2 is special, and for the owner to modify it aswell??? The standard power is not enough???? Kudos to the OP, one damn fine car...
  18. Dude, no need to get emotional, we are having a constructive discussion. Point out to me where I said the R35 is perfect. All I'm saying is that you have an opinion which is not necessarily correct, didn't mean to hurt your feelings... Friends??
  19. Well unless your vertically challenged I don't see why it would matter if the dash and lcd screen were sitting so high. Think of it as a safety issue, would Nissan prefer people looking down near the gear stick for the screen or would they prefer it to sit high near the windscreen so people can use their peripheral vision to see the screen without taking their eyes off the road. It's ok, Nissan have thought of everything when designing the R35. Also it would be safe to say that the R35 was designed with the intention of it being a comfortable daily driver. I bet the mass population would like to get out of the car without doing their back, cars such as ferraris have a very low seating position and makes it difficult for 'larger' men to exit the car. Maybe Nissan will think about the 'lower' stance on their new model, after all how else will it go faster than the current model??
  20. Have to agree with Matt here, DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN A Z-TUNE BONNET WORTH $8K!!!!! I do have the aerocatch pins on my bonnet, much neater and I don't slice my fingers anymore washing my car!!!!
  21. Your not wasting anyone's time here mate, we're all one big family!!!! Not sure who's racing from SAU, BBGTR usually attends this meeting, look out for a very quick black 32GT-R. I'll be there for a looksee... Oh, and what car are you entering???
  22. Thanks for your in depth description on chassis dynamics and design. Unfortunately it makes no sense at all and has very little merit. Are you a qualified automotive engineer or are you basing your assumption on looks.. What does a high roofline on the R35 have to do with chassis design and dynamics. How much weight is at the top of the car compared to the floor pan and chassis? Your assamptions are totally wrong and the numbers are in black and white which highly disagree with your philosophy. And why is the ring time irrelevant? A true supercar should have the ability to accelerate and decelarate very quickly, aswell as mantaining high corner speed through chassis/mechanical grip. It's your opinion after all and I can see why you bought a 360, you simply didn't like the look of the R35, and there's nothing wrong with that. Oh, and your valuation of an Aussie R32 GT-R is way off the mark, as others have stated 50k and up is the norm. Don't forget there were only 100 of these released in Australia back then...
  23. Wow, great discussion here. I guess everyone has an opinion but to bag the new GT-R coz of its 'electronic aids' is a little harsh. Why do you think the car is so fast and has taken the world by surprise with its performance figures. I say good on Nissan for a terrific job they have done on the R35. Give me every possible electronic aid, if it means it drops the lap times then I'm all for it. Those who say that you need to have a manual car with no abs/traction control etc to 'feel' like your driving the car and show your talent then good for you, I guess somebody needs to fill the arse end of the time boards. Don't mean to step on anybody's toes here but if you actually have driven a R35 in anger around a track and tell me you prefer a car with manual shifter no electronic aids then so be it.... I'll be surprised how many would jump out of the car dissapointed and unimpressed....
  24. No Matt, anything under 1:55 is fast, under 1:50 is very quick, anything under 1:45 is stupid quick....
