    R33 Gtr

So in the real world once you add shipping charges, GST, import duties, compliance/tyres and rego that figure would blow out to 40k.....

    R33 Gtr

rocklee - we are in Australia not Japan, so your estimate of R34GTR's going for 33k is way off the mark (regardless of what the cost over there). A 99 model non vspec with say 80k kms will average 40k. A pristine 02 vspec 2 nur can fetch up to 90k. How many R34GTR's have you seen for sale with an asking price of 33k? Show me and I might consider buying one. We're talking complied and registered here, not some cut and shut race only version you'll find on McIntyre Rd in Sunshine....
  3. Matt, have heard good things about the new A050's, what do you usually use? And by the way, what car will you be entering?? My advice would be to fill your tank in your car to the brim, assuming you haven't been to PI before you will not be doing your quickest laps on Saturday morning. Fill up a few jerry cans aswell. What fuel do you use? If normal 98 than that's not a problem, san remo would be the go, if you use 100 octane then the closest servo is about 60k's away... You will get heaps of laps in on Saturday, you'll be using more fuel Sat than Sunday timed sprints.....
  4. Your on the money, 2 days at the best track in Aus is way too hard to pass up. Just make sure you have fresh tyres/pads and heaps of fuel!!!! Will most likely head down for a looksee, a few people I know are racing both days....
  5. Travis - seems like you need to look at 'other' options when it comes to the tuner/mechanic working on your car. Firstly melting n0.6 piston from a bad tune and then stuffed turbos for whatever reason. Its best tu use the standard blow-off valves/piping/return etc.. Don't understand why one would have that all custom fabricated. Well it's happened now so I would recommend you rebuilding the -5's, T04Z will not suit your application. Good luck with it all....
  6. I'd say after doing a 1:43 flat at the island you'd be closer to a flat 1:41 at EC, don't want to put the pressure on though!!! Will definetly say hi if I make it... P.S cool vid!!!
  7. Good stuff mate, will most likely fly up for the weekend so will definetly come and say hi. So what sort of times has the R33 done at EC anyway??
  8. Nice work Stu, car looks like it has heaps of corner grip and plenty of mumbo. The R35 is truly amazing in a straight line. You doing superlap? I'd say you would be at the pointy end in open class if you entered....

    Is that Ferni's old car??
  10. LOL, your making out like I'm some expert!!! Although owning my car now for close to 8 years and driving numerous amounts of other GT-R's you do get a feel of what a 'good' GT-R is like compared to a 'great' one. Especially when driven in anger on the track.... LOL, again my apologies if I made you uncomfortable in your car, could not help staying on the loud pedal and experiencing this fine work of machinery. It does feel heaps faster when being a passenger, your not in control and do not know what the car is about to do. I'm a bad passenger, so I know where your coming from. And as I said on the day, your car in the hands of Jeremy Clarkson in a review on Top Gear would be interesting, he would definetly be pleasantly surprised. Especially how standard it looks under the bonnet and without telling him what modifications it has, would love to see the look on his face when giving it some stick for the first time. Have been looking at prices on V-CAM, would be interesting to see what difference it would make on a 2.6 bottom end.... One thing for sure it will make a big difference to the hip pocket....
  11. I have TEIN RS's in my car, with custom valving and modified spring seats to take custom springs. Comparing them to the S-TUNE's in Matts car they are stiffer, but not to the point where they are rattling my teeth out (as per standard out of the box from Japan). They gobble up bumps at high speed without un-settling the car. Could probably go a little softer in the rear, but the current setup suits Phillip Island so I'll leave it for the moment.
  12. Hey Daniel, No Teins, still had the Nismo S-Tune suspension. Was quite impressed how soft and road compliant they were, they would make a great everyday driving kind of suspension. But I would say that the Teins would edge them out in performance, once Racepace has modified them that is. Didn't take it for a drive through some twisties but from what Matt tells me they do struggle for corner grip when pushed hard. I'd be confident in saying the Tein's would definetly improve that. Yes, lucky indeed!!!!!
  13. Managed to pry open Matt's hands for the keys for this car. It's what I expected, and then some! The power delivery of this car is mind boggling. I could tell straight away from cruising at about 40km/h in 3rd gear that this car was heaps different to mine (2.6 litre with -5's). The bottom end torque of this car is exceptional. The way it comes on boost and hits the redline is something you would expect from a v8. The power is very linear, does not give you the impression that it's turbo charged. If only I could afford what's under the hood of this car. It idles and sounds like a standard car, you could drive it to work everyday and not feel 'uncomfortable', would definetly not get sick of it as you would most 400+rwkw GTR's. Racepace has done a fantastic job, wouldn't expect anything less though! Anyway, enough of my rambling, still can't get it out of my head... Big thanks Matt for the drive.... Matt, you have one exceptional and unigue GT-R.
  14. Oh no Matt when did this happen? On the way home after our cruise? Who fitted the tyres to those rims originally?
  15. Interesting topic and many good responses in fixing the problem. Another factor which may cause the problem is mounting the oil cooler in front of the radiator. Would be beneficial in mounting it to the passenger side front intake in bumper bar (driver side has blow off valves and not much room). I have a Trust 76mm thick intercooler, HKS type S oil cooler located behind passenger front indicator, and a Trust alloy radiator. The car still runs A/C so nothing has been removed in front of radiator. Car makes around 550hp, has no weight stripped out of it (ie. full weight) and have not seen temps past 90 degrees. Now that is going flat out for 4 flying laps (maybe only 3 at Phillip Island). My tyres go off by then and engine temps are at around 90 and oil at around 120. Just my 2c... Oh, and Baron IS THE KING!!!!
  16. Car still in one piece? Nothing broken?
  17. I was referring more to the finer detail, like the engine bay/engine components/cf/suspension etc. You don't see that kind of detail often. I should have made it a bit clearer in my post.
  18. Outstanding and speechless are the first words to come to mind. But in all honesty it was expected. Damian, you truly are a perfectionist. Well done... Oh, and will get in contact with you for a detail very soon....
  19. If this question is directed at me I'm not a tuner, nor do I own a workshop and have never tuned a car, not sure what's this has got to do with anything.. You could have deleted the info of the car on the dyno sheet and just displayed the curve, either way you did still give the info didn't you? Who's getting roasted in giving the right info? If you say it can be done but not back it up with any INFO at all then that deserves a roasting, best to stay out of the discussion if you don't want to participate. And where did I say a single turbo is not a viable alternative? We are talking about this particular setup here where I stated he is wasting his time. EXACTLY.... There is definetly something wrong there, does the car have cam gears? Have they been dialled in properly? What sort of exhaust is the car running? Boost controller? There are many factors hich may be holding the response back. I say time to look at alternative solutions as far as tuning goes, an experienced RB26 tuner should know better.
  20. Hit the nail on the head!!! Interesting thread, guaranteed to get people fired up!! I did run 260/9.15 lift poncams with -5's on a built motor, but reverted back to standard cams under instructions from my tuner/mechanic. One major difference I noticed was pulling into my driveway at home and driving up into the garage (very slight incline). With Poncams my car used to be lethargic. Travelling 10km/h up the driveway my car felt like it needed revs to get into the garage. Once the standard cams were put back in the car it would pretty much idle up the driveway into my garage without a sweat. Now what does this mean? Maybe someone with more technical knowledge than me can explain... I also felt my on/off boost transition more responsive aswell. The car made just as much power and similar response (maybe slightly favourable with standard cams) to the Poncams.. Just my 2c....
  21. I haven't seen many at all, they are not popular for a reason. In my opinion I believe it comes down to two factors. First is the percentage of GTR's which are street cars that don't want the hassle of a high mount with current laws, EPA etc... Second is cost, it will be cheaper to bolt on some low mounts than go through the excercise of buying turbo, manifold, wastegate, plumbing, oil lines etc. This is my opinion and by no means is the definitive answer. Would be interesting to see how those turbos you have mentioned would go, has anybody seen any dyno graphs or experienced such setups that would better the GTSS's in response??
  22. If your in the Northern suburbs I'd recommend Centreline Suspension. They are in Thomastown.
  23. Agree totally, especially when the person behind the keyboard IS the tuner. Having 4 GTR's in your workshop does wonders to one's ego it seems. Time to put it to rest anyway, if Trent doesn't want to share his knowledge and experiences well then he shouldn't say anything at all. A few have recommended a turbo, would be interesting how they would go up against the twin GTSS's.
  24. Nice work Steve, I remember seeing this chart a while back, puts things into perpective and good reference for comparisons.. Agreed, proven many times over, results speak for themselves...
  25. I see where your coming from, same car, same engine etc... However the two turbo setups you have mentioned are not comparable. Anyone know the HP ratings of each setup (twin 2835's vs GT35R)?
