Trent, give it up mate, your posts are as valuable as what I just passed through the toilet half an hour ago. Go back to the top and have a good read. When you answer my question posted early in this thread then we can continue this conversation with merit. Just in case you have been working hard in this 40 degree heat today, I'll help you out. You said there are single setups that would be more responsive than twin GTSS's. I disagreed, and asked you to specify which single(s) you were referring to. You ignored my question (which incidently could not give a fark anyway), and then mentioned that the singles in mind can 'MATCH' the GTSS's. So from 'being more responsive' you have moved to 'MATCH OR BETTER'. So, which one is it? Have you made up your mind?? I'm not the one who is small minded, infact I'd like to see results disproving my opinion and broaden my knowledge. Oh, no offence but I wouldn't waste my time coming to your workshop to see 4 GTR's when I can go to my mechanic and see 14 of them.

My New Car...........finally!
JAGR33 replied to Bangaz Boy's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah those pics don't do it any justice. Coming from a series 2 GTST to a GTR with xenons I noticed a huge difference. Definetly not 6000k, I'd say more like 4000k. -
Would have to agree with tangomatt on this one, looks quite bland from the back, but once up on the hoist the workmanship is to die for. Definetly no bling to be seen once the car is on the ground... I had a HKS Hiper 3.5'' exhaust previously on my car, once the custom Racepace exhaust went on I was in heaven, especially my ears. Maybe my old age is kicking in but fu(ked if I'm driving a car with a loud annoying exhaust. Was pretty cool 5 years ago, not for me now. Good luck with it all moneypit, definetly like your list of mods and nice choice on the engine too.... Tangomatt, when we going for a drive???
-
Dunno WTF all the fuss is about either, seems like people want to work on their turbos on a regular basis or are not confident with things going right. Last thing I'd want to do is fu(k around with turbos once installed. JUST LEAVE THEM, THEY'RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!! I'd say the reason you want a big single is for the sake of a high mount turbo in your engine bay. Just do it, take it to URAS, he's a genious with rb26's, just ask him....
-
No help from Melbourne???
-
Good for you.... The single is till bigger than any of the low mounts most commonly used, so you could class it as a big single. OK so which two are going to have better response than GTSS's?
-
And what power does the car make now? You'd be stupid to go big single if your only chasing 400-450rwhp... You can have that power with the best response you can get with your current setup. Just my 2c....

Why would he bother with a HID kit when the car has factory Xenon's?? They are much brighter (and whiter) than the standard headlights fitted to GTST's and earlier model R33 GTR's. I say don't waste the money and go for some lowered springs instead. Oh, by the way, NICE CAR!!! -
Your right, where does it end??? Definetly a 15k exercise, I say leave it and see how far you can go with the 2.6. So what options are you looking at exhaust wise?? This can make or break your setup....

Nice work moneypit, good to see more people experimenting with VCAM. Tangomatt has had a very impressive result with VCAM although he is using an HKS 2.8 bottem end and -5's. With the 2530's it would have definetly woken them up a bit. Awesome result...
-
He wants an airbox to suit an R34 GT-R not GT-T.... I have one, will get in contact with you....

Right hand rear tailight has foglight instead of reverse light. I'd say that it's a series 3 with the front lip replaced. Also in his avatar it's states that it's a 97 model. Interesting about the colour, its definetly paint code KL0, as released in the series one. Not sure if they continued using this colour for the series 3, KR4 was more popular. Vin number will definetly confirm. Bump, nice car...

I find the ABS to be idiot proof, just go in late and stand on the pedal has hard as you can!!!! Without ABS it would be much trickier. What brakes you running on the rear??
-
Just carry more corner speed and hit the loud peddle early!!!!! Sounds like the R32 is a weapon....

Oh, I assumed the GTR time in your sig was the R34GTR you mentioned earlier with the Teins and cat back exhaust. Well that's a very respectable time for the Evo then against a T04Z'd GTR, although a turbo that size can be a downfall for sprints... All the best with it...
-
Your signature says otherwise. So get the Evo and go slower on the track?
-
Nice work, are they the endurance caliper? Do they take a 36mm thick rotor and 30 mm thick pads? Do you still run ABS? I can get mine to lock up for a tenth of a second before ABS kicks in and does its thing. Thats running RE55s tyres... Like the pic in your sig, looks familiar....

Well spotted, been to heaps of WRX days, one of the more organised clubs in regards to the way they run their days. Got 1st place overall in the Skyline class back in 2007. Enough of the bragging... No ducting to the intercooler or radiator, doesn't seem to need it. Although a little ducting wouldn't hurt...
-
I'm pretty sure Matt ran a 1:24 (I may be wrong), but that did also include RE55 semis and Tein coilovers. Quick but definetly not 'silly fast'.... JFK ran a flat 1:22 in his R33GTR which had standard turbos (14psi), standard ecu, full exhaust cam gears usual mods to net 250rwkws. He had RE55's but STANDARD suspension..... In regards to choosing either you should definetly take both for a test drive. You should also factor in that most R34 GTR's are 10 years old now. In saying that I can't stand the interior in the Evo's besides the seats. Not much change from a 15k base model Lancer. Although after driving an EVO 9 for a couple of hours a few months back I did quite enjoy the response and how much go it had down low. Did fall over higher in the rev range but the close ratio box made it feel like I was going really fast due to ripping through the gears very quickly. The GTR has longer legs, and needs to stretch them when going through the gears. Decisions, decisions, good luck with it all...

Good luck Paul, don't be scared to hold it flat!!!

Seems you have a fascination with M3's. I say buy one and leave it reasonably stock. Supercharging it will require alot of other supporting mods which will send you broke. I say if you want a fast car go buy one.... assuming the M3 is not fast enough for you in stock form.... Now with those suggestions mentioned above they are two different sort of cars. One is a luxo-barge the other is a sports car. Nothing wrong with luxo-barges, especially if they're daily drivers... Although you could drive the R34GTR as a daily as long as you don't go over the top with mods... My 2c...

They are carbon fibre ducts made by Border Racing Japan. I painted them matt black as they had heaps of stone chips. They are functional in the way that my HKS oil cooler sits behind the passenger side duct, I've also cut a square hole out of the guard liner so the air comes in through the duct, passes through the oil cooler and out the back through the hole in the guard liner. Made a heap of difference to oil temps on the track. Click below for the link on the product. http://www.neweraparts.com/Default.aspx?ta...;Language=en-AU Oh, and thats my car in their advertisement....

Great to hear you had a good time fanging your car down the Great Ocean Rd, it is a very nice road although these days is too slow with traffic and can be dangerous at times. Upgrading to a E46 M3? More like a downgrade when taking into consideration 'spirited' runs down some twisty roads. I'd say its an upgrade in comfort and that's it... Your car should out handle and be quicker than an M3.... Just my 2c
