Unless you know for sure that it is coming from the hose/connector parts, it could also be from the PS idle up valve. You could pull that off, clean things up, add some thread sealant and try it again. Or buy a suitable plug to dead-end that outlet.

Amayama actually confirmed they have the valve so I have a new piece coming. Maybe I will check again once that is done.

Can I ask - any idea what size that bolt is?

  2. Round #2 and this time I made sure to give it a good wipe everywhere there was some oil so I can figure out where it was.
    and great success!!!

it’s on the same connector the valve control is on. Just the other pipe- which I think is the high pressure hose?

it’s where the pipe is crimped with the metal piece and the reason I couldn’t figure it out or see it clearly is because it’s on the side facing the engine. I was under the car and saw the drops were falling from the gold colour piece, put my finger on the engine block side of the hose and it’s got PS fluid leaking.

Does this mean I’d have to change the whole piece with the hose etc or do guys like Enzed actually fix them? I’ve seen a lot of post recommending them and Pritek?

would they be able to re-crimp this or something? Again, apologies if something like that is not possible 😂 I’m learning!… mostly what could go wrong 🥲

Hey mate, may I ask what size are the bulbs in the triple pod gauge on the r34 gtt, are they t3 with a 7mm base like on a r34 GTR mfd?

Sorry this is late, but I just changed mine on the GTT. They are 6.5T
I tried T5 at the start, they don't fit nicely and is all loosely goosey. T6.5 from eBay and it works fine

I'm still learning the ins and outs of the car. I panicked when I saw the fluid. It didn't even cross my mind to just look above it 🤣
I could not understand why it would be connected together either, which is why I thought Iid post here.  But the plan this weekend is to check above it. Usually easier to check with the airbox off.

That probably permanently raises the idle. If it seems like the idle is higher than you want try capping both ends. I really doubt the part is discontinued because Nissan used it a million cars from the late 90s and early 2000s.

Yeah I assumed the revs would be higher because one hose is continuously sucking air (left) while the other is connected to the steel pipe (right). It's definitely much smoother compared to when the hoses were just flapping around 🙃
While the plug was broken, I looked inside it and all it had was a screw which raises up on full lock! (white) The whole thing is pretty much just a connector except for when the screw raises on full lock.

And yes, looks like Pathfinder and other Nissans have the same item. Amayama has been the only cheap one I can find. Others cost a decent amount - and none from AU (everything coming up in US).

Just join the 2x hoses together there, or at the other ends. You will lose the idle up, but it should be fine.

    Update:
Just bought a $4 6mm hose connector from Bunnings on Sunday and installed it. Car runs fine as @GTSBoy said.
Hopefully Amayama has the part in stock and I will buy it at some point

  7. Sorry @GTSBoywhen I said “tiny as” I did mean “tiny as fk”

yeah it’s just an electrical needle poking out.
I’ll have a look at everything above that connection tomorrow to see what you mean about the leak coming from something above that piece.
I had my light on that piece while checking ever since I saw a drip fall right there so I could have just been focusing on that 😅😅

  8. So I've had this very confusing question in my head: What on all things that is holy is the front bumper on my GTT and why on earth is it sooooo different to other OEM bumpers?

The biggest giveaway for me was the different indicators I had at the front. I've done some Googling today and figured out that it's actually a front bumper from a GT-V. After having a panic attack that I might have bought an NA thinking it was a turbo, then triple confirming it did have a turbo, I started wondering how I can get my hands on a proper GTT OEM front bar.

But it also got me thinking, this GT-V bumper probably does not do my engine any good right? I've got the stock intercoolers but they are probably not getting decent air thanks to there being no vents!! It's got some small vents on the bottom of the bar but that's about it. Should I be worried about the amount of airflow coming onto the engine?

Also, when I get the front bumper, I'm also going to have to buy the indicators to go along with them *Sigh*

  9. Hey everyone,

So another day, another power steering issue that I need help with 😂

I’ve been having a whining power steering pump and realised my levels were super low. So I’ve topped up the PS fluid and bled the system. While doing the steering wheel locks to clear the air, I noticed that there was a lot of PS fluid leaking to the ground.
I’ve been trying to find where it’s been leaking from and finally figured out the culprit.
It seems to be this hose that connects to the AC Compressor? It’s some tiny as metal needle coming out of the compressor and it has a hose connected to the PS reservoir and whenever I’m giving the car full lock or close to full lock, it just leaks from there. If you hold the full lock it will squirt quite fast.

I’ve added two pics for reference and circled the hose where it’s leaking from. I just googled the part # I can see in the picture and it says it’s the AC compressor.
So what I need help with is:

    1. Trying to figure out what a PS fluid hose is doing connected to the AC compressor?
    2. Anything I can do to stop this leak? The hose and metal piece are too small for a 6mm clamp. Should I even try and clamp this? If it’s squirting when on full lock, that’s some decent amount of pressure. Would clamping it tight make the fluid leak from the reservoir?
    3. Do I need to replace the AC compressor or the PS pump? Not sure if this is related to the PS pump.

    Thanks in advance.

Stationary the car steering shudders and the pump whines.

Sorry to reopen an old thread but I’ve been having the exact same feeling as you mentioned. I was tipping up my PS fluid today and noticed that while the car was on and stationary, the steering wheel shudders when I’m doing full lock. It wasn’t exactly on the full lock but maybe about 75% turned in one direction.

although, I also found out today that my power steering valve was broken by the previous owner and it was just glued together 😂 that glue had cracked again so it was leaking air. I’m not sure if that’s what caused it.

That is called the power steering valve. It is designed to raise the engine idle when you put excessive load on the power steering pump to keep the engine from stalling. Replacement is 49762-AA000.

@joshuaho96 I don't know if you are located in Melbourne, but I owe you a pint!

At least now I know what to buy, and thank god it's all one piece because that touch-up job and my double touch-up looks nasty!
Thank you again! Cannot explain how glad I am to know what this mystery piece is!

Bleed it again with the engine running.

Hahaa yeah one good win turned into a day of misery.

#1: found some connector that was badly patched up and cracked since. Now trying to figure out what that connector actually is so I can get it fixed.

#2: I think my power steering pump might be kaput? I was running the car and doing the steering lock, looked underneath and there was a decent amount of power steering fluid on the ground 😔 my reservoir still has the same level I added so I’m confused about it. But I can see it on the underside of the car too so it’s dripping down from somewhere. The main hose under the reservoir looks fine so could it be the pump?

the reservoir has fluid up to just below max now

Because of issue #1, it’s not going to get driven much now anyway. I’ve done a patch up just so I can connect the piece tomorrow. And then I’ve got to figure out what on earth that is and how it can be replaced.

Here I was, really looking forward to topping up PS fluid and taking the car for a drive. So depressing 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ the only day I’ve had no issues was when I changed the battery 😂

This is an R34 right? there is some sort of engine vacuum line connected to the power steering pump (no, I can't remember why that was a good idea for Nissan), it has clearly been previously broken and repaired on your car.

You will have a boost leak until you fix or replace that fitting. May in the meantime take the 2 hoses off and plug them with something like an 6mm bolt (assuming they are 6mm inner diameter)

Yes it’s an R34 GTT. I’ve just been panicking because I just have no idea what it is 😂😂

yeah a boost leak is fine - not a daily. I just want to make sure it’s plugged until I hit the part needed.
it does look like 2 hoses connecting to a plastic bit, that then goes into this metal piece.

  14. While I was doing my power steering fluid and running the engine I noticed I could hear some air hissing.

Turns out there is some connector with two hoses connecting together (one hose comes from intercooler?) it seems this was just glued on before and now that glue has cracked and it just racks all over the place.

Please help figure out what this piece is!! I got no idea.

  15. So today I decided to top my PS fluid and bleed air out of it because the level was below MIN.

I jacked up the front of the car, filled new fluid up to just below the MAX line so I have a reference and started turning the wheel slowly to full lock each way.
around turn 24, the fluid in the reservoir overflew!
now when I check the levels, it’s just above the MAX line.

I’m trying to understand how all of a sudden this system has more fluid. Is there some air bubble still stuck somewhere which is causing the level to be higher than when I started? I’m confused about how the level went up, not down 😂

Any help would be much appreciated. I’m still turning the wheel to full lock and continuing with the bleed, and it hasn’t happened again. Only happened twice at the start.

    Thank you in advance

I'd make sure it's the correct one for yours. At least from amayama it looks pretty generic and fits a ton of cars.

And if anyone asks what you did on the weekend, you can tell them that you put a new cock on the car :D

@soviet_merlin Managed to find my part and get it off Amayama. While I was at it and paying 9.75 AUD shipping for a $1 piece, I thought I may as well get some other plastic clips I broke 🙈

Thanks a lot for this link
