MIC33R .......... lag ............... since I've put the GT30 I forgot what lag is (awesome turbo) boost from 2500 rpm 7.3:1 comp ratio is a bit too low, however with a 1100 kg car is not much of an issue and the car is good off boost as well, and at 4000rpm the car already makes 200rwkw (racepace dyno) 12.2 @ 117mph 12.1@116mph P.S.   2. hehe .......... yes Zeds are addictive......... but the project will end up costing a lot more than what you think....... so you should be aware of that. If you don't have much cash I would start the conversion as these thing always end much much more than anticipated, and I'm sure you don't want your car off the road for months. P.S...... I still think 2L isn't much for a bigger 280zx.....

The motor won’t be much compare to the rest of the project: - New exhaust - New plumbing for the cooler - New engine mounts/ or modified engine mounts - New clutch - New G/box - Will need new G/box cross member as L series motors lean to one side, yet RB motors to the other - Brakes upgrade for engineers report - Wiring - Intercooler - New ECU (stock ecu may do to start with) - New fuel pump, fuel reg. - Sump might need mods to clear cross member - Labor ( unless you plan to do most of it your self ) - Engineers report etc. etc. I think you’ll end up spending at least 10k on the conversion,…… and for that money you might as well sell your car and buy a R32 GTS, which would be a better car to play with. These are just the most obvious things that will be required. I know a bit about it as I am also putting an RB motor into my Zed next year. Also a friend has fitted an RB26 into his Zed.

  6. It’s a fairly expensive exercise to put an RB motor into a Zed, therefore you should be putting RB25DET or even RB30t, as those extra cubes will make the car much better to drive. To put an rb26dett into a Zed costs around 10k (excluding motor). Do it once … do it right. Talk to SPEED TECHNOLOGY as they have done RB conversions into Zeds. 03 9873 5400
  7. Corection …….camshaft are 288* duration and 11.35mm lift. These cams require offset retainers, and some mods to the head. Last ones on JUN WEBSITE

  10. Ronin 09 ...... Currently I have 540s on my car and previous to that I had DJO1 Dunlops. Both tyres are great but I¡¦d be leaning towards 540s. However DJO1 I got second hand (from Mick Doohans car that he rolled in Targa on 1st stage), where as Bridgestones I bought new a few months ago. Dry & wet weather performance in great. Much better breaking, acceleration and around the twisties you can't compare especially once you got a bit more heat into them. Even when cold they still perform better all around compare to a street tyre. The launch also improved a lot as I can slip the clutch from higher revs before the tyres start spinning. I think I could do sub 2 second 60¨ on the street. When I took the car around Sandown I was amazed how well they gripped the road, and how much later I could break. Once you got a bit heat into them they are phenomenal. However my suspension is set up more for those tyres than an average car as I run a bit of camber, 3 degrees front and 2 degrees rear with 300% stiffer suspension than stock, shortened body struts, konis etc¡K.. Also since my 240Z weights about 1100 kg they are quiet, but the same tyre a little wider (255) on GTR was a bit noisy. Can¡'t go wrong with both tyres, but they are only worth getting if you abuse the car on regular basis, do a bit of twisties or circuit work. Driving in traffic on them is a waste as they are a purpose designed tyre. I found that rears won¡¦t wear out as fast as you won't be wheel spinning as much. If you don't drive too hard they will last. You only wear faster on the track, where you warm up and let go very soft. The best price FOR 540s I found at: BRIDBESTONE TYRE CENTER, AIR PORT WEST 1/93-95 Matthews Ave, Airport West Vic 3042 Ph. 03 9330 4133 Paid $360 each for 18x235 compare to everywhere else nearly $500 each. BTW......... I don¡'t I'll ever go back to street tyres, especially since the semi comps are on my 2nd (weekend) car.

Leewah............. as you know my car has been off the road for over 6 months therefore I'm not keen to do that again, ...................so I might just put a nice turbo onto the L28 and circuit race it for year or so, but the RB will go in one day. BTW.......Leewah you still haven't taken me for a spin.....

I've been once before with you guys for a cruise as a passenger with Matt in his RB30DET GTS-T, as my car was off the road at that time having a R33 G/box fitted. I'll most likely com out with it next time you guys have a cruise. 240z article
