  1. im paying $3000 a year for a r33 gtst with no rating and im 20 in sydney, but as no one here works for sales with famous (i think) you probably should just ring them for a quote. For a Auto non turbo r34 it may be reasonable, compared to a turbo one anyway. Just dont get your hopes up, it still may be enough to send you broke.
  2. If you lived in sydney id change it for you with Mobil 1 0w40 for $60, that includes oil and filter, but you dont so i cant.
  3. one other question. Does anyone think nissan would release a GTST model based on the GTR platform? They obviously arent going to do it with the V35. Im sure a lot cheaper rear wheel drive and maybe a little simpler engine built with the GTR platform would be a fair bit cheaper. Maybe it would effect 350Z sales though. It was a good time in the early to mid 90's. GTR, GTST, Silvia, 300zx all in the nissan stable. Look now, even in japan the nissan cars all look a little dull except for the 350Z.
  4. i think there may have been an aftermarket one. Did the Tommy Kaira r32 models have a digital dash or at least a digital spedo?
  5. So will the Evo VIII be available from mitsubishi australia?
  6. Its the end of another F1 season and yet again Michael Schumacher is the world champ. I have really only been watching F1 reguarly since the mid 90's but this season has by far been the best. I think even the dull races (and there was only a few) were interesting compared to previous years. I think it was really good to see renault make a step up from the mid field and williams get back to some regular front of the field pace. The mid field was really interesting as well with Toyota, BAR and Jaguar (sauber were just plain lucky to be in the points with those three teams) all having the occasional pace to run with the front teams and having some really close battles all year. Two things about this year i thought id mention is the apparent end of Jacques Villeneuves F1 career. I know alot of people dislike JV but i think he has always been an awesome driver, at times a good laugh and always honest which god alot of people off side. Remember at monza in 2001 when the whole field voted to have no passing at the first chicane except JV, his first race in F1 in 96 where he would have won except for a loss of oil pressure or his rear wing collapsing at spa in 99 at 290kmh at Eau Rouge. I have been told by people in F1 media that he will be back but i unfortunatly i cannot see it happening. Also, this year i think we saw the gap to Ferrari made a fair bit smaller. The only reasons i can see for this is the gains michelin have made and the fact that maybe Ferrari are reachin the limits of design under the current rules. Everyone expected the F2003 GA to blitz the field even more so than the F2002 did but it just didnt happen. Could it be that Ferrari are finding it ever so much harder to extract minute gains in speed compared to a few years ago and the other front runners now improving at a faster rate? This could be good news for next season. My thoughts #1 driver: M Schumacher, 6 wins and makes the fewest mistakes year after year. #1 team: Ferrari/Renault, there isnt much else to say about Ferrari, Renault have some a hell of along way compared to a few years ago as Benneton when it was an achievement to just score regular points. #1 Race: British GP, as dangerous as it is, thank god for wacko track invaders. A note for Montoya and Webber. Montoya is still my favourite driver, he has the biggest balls and makes the best passes of any current F1 driver but unfortunatly also seems to still have a regular head explosion (melbourne this year). With Webber i think its only a matter of time till Australia has a race winner, i cant wait until he moves into one of the big teams. I already have my tickets for the Melbourne GP and i have no idea what im going to do every second sunday night now for the next 5 months, going to have to go and fiddle with the skyline late on a sunday night or something. *Another open wheeler happening during this week was the huge crash in the IRL with Kenny Brack. Seeing it on the news i knew he was ok but if i had seen it live i think i would have been sick. I remember watching Greg Moores crash a few years ago and i think this was equally as bad except Brack was lucky he hit the barrier with the impact absorbing parts of the car. I actually haver a photo of myself with Kenny Brack i got on a pit walk at the gold coast a few years ago, hope he races again.
  7. Will the Dutton rally be eventually televised on speedweek or something? Looks like it would be a huge amount of fun.
  8. hmm, some people have far to much time on their hands.
  9. I have been working at an auto 1 in sydney on a sunday for almost 3 years for some extra cash. During the week i work as a mechanic (just out of apprenticeship). I think generally this particular auto 1 has been in business for fourty years and has mostly experienced full time staff, only 1 younger guy with not alot of experience but he isnt afraid to ask the other guys when he doesnt know something so he does well. The problem is that most of the guys who work there really only know about your car if its a commodore or a falcon. When i started working there people would come in and ask for brake pads for their supra or skyline and the guys would almost not believe the car existed and generally tell the customer they would have to ring the supplier during the week and find out the pad for them (this been a sunday couldnt ring on the spot), now when and import comes in they just send the customer to me and i try and find a part by looking up the part if say the same engine in a FTO is found in a Galant or when someone wants a skyline water pump selling maybe a VL pump and so on. The older guys dont have a clue. At the same time there are that many parts in stock and as i am only casual i have been asked for something and said we dont keep it in stock then the customer has just found it in the retail section of the shop. So yeah i **** up and look stupid quite often. I do only work one day a week though. But yes, i do think that the service in these shops are generally quite bad. Most places as has been mentioned hire untrained staff or young people with very limited knowledge about car, also the parts manufacturers dont help. Most imports arent covered in 90% of parts catalogues which makes it a bitch. To do the job as a parts interperator you really need to be pretty cluey and have alot of experience to be good and chain stores simply wont pay decent wages. Hope i made some sort of sence. I ussually dont..
  10. I may be in, it was a good drive last time and a "spirited drive" is always fun. How many people are expected?
  11. 1046 i think. 1hp = .74kw
  12. Had a good day and i didnt even run my car. The guys at CRD were really approachable and helpful. We had a bbq that went off (literally), and you have to love the smell of all those rich running skylines...
  13. Skylines came out with Clarions.
  14. I think we all want pics of tina in a bikini. She was on the Meet my folks show on chanel 7. Got onto the guy all episode as well as one of the other chicks.
  15. The new liberty GT is meant to be a great drive, and an XR6 Turbo is a family car with the 6 cyl turbo theme.
  16. BIg DoUgHnut PArty At Krispy Kreme!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. i think the most unlucky person in recent history was michael andretti. Imagine comming into your first year of F1 and having Ayrton Senna as a team mate. No wonder he only lasted 1 dismal season.
  18. I think webber would have had a good shot at the podium, the michelins didnt slow Kimi down all that much. I do think we have alot to look forward to with Webber though. I mean i think the best way to measure a driver is against his team mates. In something like 32 starts webber has been out qualified twice and has scored something like 19 points to 1 or 2 against his team mates. Ok so Alex Yoong wasnt the best benchmark, but pizzonia and wilson are both good drivers who havent yet come close to webber. Will be very interesting when he gets a drive in one of the big 4 teams.
  19. I think webber either has bad luck or isnt the best in wet conditions when he is on the wrong tyres. I think it was in Silverstone 02' he touched the white line in greasy conditions and spun off. Brazil this year was driving around on drys and crashed out in a big way, on monday morning crashed out for a similar reason blowing a definite podium and possible 5th in the constructors championship. Webber is still an awesome driver but would somone such as MS have lost it in the same circumstances.
  20. dude, thats pretty expensive for a stolen car. Wrong section also.
  21. Id say after the events of the allan moffat organised cannonball run about 10 years ago or something, i doubt any more such events will happen in australia.
  22. I think that would be a great idea. Im sure people would get alot more runs than the off street drags and would be good fun to be able to check out everyones machinery in action.
  23. that guy was obviously supplied with the wrong belt. Damn spare parts idiots.
  24. This is an idea for the next SAU event. The SAU Cannonball run.
  25. r32rx3, I could organise a stock standard r31 Silhouette for you. Nissan Red with a beige interior. Everyone will totally NV you rocking up in that.
