Ok, i made it back from surfers. I ended up in between the rose and crown i think it was and the beach on new years. The weather was awesome the whole time and there was plenty of nice girls around and the skyline didnt miss a beat. I can see why so many of my friends have moved up to brisbane or the gold coast. Ok a few things i noticed though. 1, Where were all the police on the road? The whole time i was up there i didnt see 1 speed camera, hardly any police cars cruising other than around the cavill area and cetainly no highway patrol cars. Maybe im just used to the millions of speed cameras/police cars on the road here in Sydney. (i try to avoid breaking on the law on the road anyway) 2, No drinking on the beach!@#$!@#$!#$ what? i can understand maybe at schoolies time but come on. You cant beat a few drinks on the beach in summer especially with the weather you get up there. 3, Where do people ger there licences from? I have never seen so many crashes on one stretch of road. (gold coast highway) There was a beauty at that chevron island intersection between a police car an a volvo on sat night. and lastly what the hell is it with putt putt up there. They are everywhere! im guessing the whole tourist factor. 4, I SAW FUEL FOR 79c, WTF? Anyway i had good fun up there and thanks for the advice.

Bleach1 replied to The Dan's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)

I have done a handful of skyline clutches on the ground. I just advise anyone of concidering doing their clutch without a hoist. The box is quite heavy and large on a skyline and it really just isnt worth the pain and well danger of doing it under the car, from now on i will only do them on a hoist with a trans stand.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all :)
Bleach1 replied to Tosh's topic in New South Wales
Me and a few mates of mine are doing the same thing, heading to surfers for new years for somethig different, taking the skyline up as well unfortunatly. (bugs will get everywhere). I hope its worth the drive! -
I cant seem to register on the pulsar forum because they wont accept a yahoo email?? Thanks for the tip. The car may be available in a month or 2 possibly but its unlikley as the car will be traded as soon as a good r32 gtr can be found if it hasnt been sold privatly by then and the trade in on it quite reasonable. Chris.

Ok, i have to say selling a skyline is really incredibly hard at the moment. Its only compounded i think with the fact that they seem to have devalued a hell of alot in the last few years. After 12 months of trying to sell at just slightly above market value i finally sold the car for maybe a little below market value only to ironically have a work situation change the day me and the buyer had agreed on the price. The amount of money i would have lost on it in the 3 years i have owned it would have been pretty horrendous at the price i was selling it for so maybe it was a good thing. The market for a skylines is definatly a buyers market so i would say the only way the car will sell is to drop the price right down into the market value and even then it will be hard. Good luck.

Need accomodation on the Gold Coast at new years, Help!
Bleach1 replied to Bleach1's topic in Queensland
anyone heard of the Anglers Arms motel? Its in queen street in southport or something. Its the only place i have found so far with accomodation. -
Hi, Guys i have a problem, im from NSW and some plans of mine have changed for new years so i now need to head to the Gold Coast on the 31st for new years. Now with it been such late notice i realise i have no chance of getting an apartment there for a few nights so i need some advice on some cheap motels in the area. I cant find much on the internet as most off the accomodation advertised on the net is resorts/appartments which are all booked out. I just need a cheapish motel that isnt to far away from the main part of the Gold Coast so i need some recommendations, im guessing even this may be a long shot as far as beign booked out. Any ideas anyone?

Apparently Pizzaman was on the fastel lap of the day during his last flying lap but was baulked by Zonta. I dont know what he was doing for the rest of the laps though. I thik it was something like 65laps for NH and 154 for pizza. Nick heidfeld deserves the drive in my opinion. He has been a driver like Webber i think, has alot of talent but has never had the machinery to prove it. Its only a 1 year gig by the looks of it anyway so Williams should give him a run i believe.

I DO! i remember going to watch the sprint cars there when i was a little kid. I always seemed to remember it been better than parra speedway. You can buy a house on the main straight of Amaroo these days. Damn progress.

Yeah, Ill give you a hot tip, dont go to the shell on Alison road next to the race course for a rego instpection. I dont think the old mechanic likes skylines. (i know your a local).
-
The tyres were well above the wear marks. This was a few days after the EVLR34 crash and the guy and a few times while arguing with him he said "im not letting those tyres pass on a car like that". Anyone took it somewhere else today and they guy passed it, said the tyres were fine.
-
yeah, i just wanna stick it to the guy, he had a bit of an attitude.
-
Ok during last week i went in to get a pinkslip for my skyline. The guy failed it because the rear tyres are to low. Now i didnt think it needed new tyres so i got my trusty tyre depth guage and measured them. The minimum tread depth on both of the rear tyres was 4mm. I know they are low and will need replacing in the near future but im not going to buy a new set of 265/40r18's until i have got the max wear out of them. Is there anywhere i can find the regulations for the pinkslip check on the net? I can only find the vehicle standards information sheet on the NSW rta website but not anything specifically relating to the roadworthy check as i want to print the out and take them back to the mechanic who failed my car. Thanx.

That doesnt always stand true. What alot of workshops will do is have a set time for certain jobs. Now if the time given for a job is 3 hours but there is a good mechanic who can do it in 2, the workshop will still charge for 3 hours. At the same time they also shouldnt charge more than the 3 hours set tim.. So even if someone knows what they are doingyou still may get charged the same amount of time. Of course this isnt all workshops so i dont know about the places mentioned in the thread.
-
As i am a mechanic my skyline wont ever see a workshop, i have seen to many dodgy things in my time although yes, some of us do try to do a good job and dont overcharge. I look after a number of friends skylines, supras and other imports as well as many more mundane vehicles and they all run beautifully! Unfortunatly its true that a good mechanic is very hard to find so when you do find a one that is honest and knows his stuff stick with. Chris.
-
its an 83 sigma. It got given to me with 6months rego left. Its now run out and i cant be bothered getting it registered. It runs well, just needs to be warmed up. It also has new front wheel bearings and rear wheel cylinders and brake shoes. Oh and new brake fluid! The thing just has way to much rust.

Anyone know of a wrecker or towey in Sydney that will come pick up and old bomb and take it away?
-
Are you sure its not your fan belts making the noise? Check for cracks in the belt or they may need a little adjustment.
