My friend had tis exact problem and it turned out to be the afm. Double check all those connectors Hopefully it isnt anything more serious. Good luck!

Perhaps you could get your tach recalibrated? This would be the cheapest way to get there (just keep quiet no one will know, they will be real impressed! ). Seriously though that is a pointless thing to do, if you even got the engine to stay together you would need massive head flow numbers you would have no low down torque the cars gearing would be wrong Blah

Water Methanol Injection (for 95 Ron Fuel Users)
68charger replied to The Mafia's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
There is heaps of information here>> http://snowperformance.net/ Their kits although expensive are very highly regarded especially amongst the big horse power turbo diesel crowd. Hope it can help you somewhat. -
The problem with "flushing" your engine like that is all the bits of sludge etc that you dislodge end up somewhere, usually blocking fine oil passages etc. I strongly advise you not to do this. If you must try and clean it out you could use an engine oil developed for diesel engines such as castrol rx super(providing the viscosity is correct), diesel engine oils have a very strong detergent content. But I wouldn't even do that. You should just use a high quality engine oil and change it after a thousand kays or so. If you really are paranoid about sludge or whatever have the engine torn down and cleaned/inspected. Just my opinion/thoughts. Graham

If you cant afford to fix the damage properly, you could always just buy a tin of body filler some sandpaper and some flat black paint. Would cost no more than 45 dollars, 40 if you already own a paint roller. I'm not trying to be a smart arse here, they never said your car had to be shiny as long as its not scratched and dented. Could be a bit of a loophole. Geeze its only third party property, its not like they were gonna fix your car if you crashed anyway. But I agree with what the others have said... slouldn't have told them! B)

The Fast And The Furious 3: Tokyo Drift
68charger replied to GTS_300_Coupe's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The fast and furious movies are good if you take it as the comedy it is and dont read in to it to far, that '70 charger doing a burnout and a wheel stand at the same time was just too funny. The old mopars are good but not that good lol. I'll certainly be watching the latest one as soon as its on free to air tv -
That is a damn good deal, dont keep looking!

Getting The Stag Into The 13's
68charger replied to CSV Imports's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
There are quite a few 1/4 mile calculators on the net http://www.race-cars.net/calculators/et_calculator.html all the ones i've found are american so they are in pounds and hp. If anyone has a link to a metric one post it up, that would make it easier. I will be buying an r34sedan and i want it to run mid 13's so I put in 3300lbs (1500kg) and 270rwhp (200rwkw) it came up with 13.4 at 101.5mph, that sounds about right. -
I haven't read your whole post, but I just want to say that you really need some help. You admitted earlier that you are a bullshit artist. Dont bother replying to me this is the last time I will bother replying to your posts. I dont have as much time to write on forums as I would like to. But when you said to have your say on whatever this thread was about I replied as I thought I had something to contribute to the discussion, only to later find out i'd become a part of your childish game. I dont have time for people like you, i'm sorry. Graham

I thought it was something like that, so there would be all new wiring for them. What a strange thing to do, the xenons must be to good I guess.
-
Did they give you any indication as to what they did to rectify the problems when you took it in? Sounds like a faulty earth or connection or something, they screw around with the lights at compliance so who knows what kinda wiring is behind there. Hope you get it all sorted out, i'm getting an r34 shortly hope this isnt a common problem. As a side note my 2 year old falcon has had the same kind of problems with one of the headlamps.

Me too! Hennessey performance does a a 1000hp twin turbo upgrade for them http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/hennes...ActionReq=Where Acceleration (with optional drag wheels/tires): 0-60: 3.1 sec. 1/4 mile: 10.3 sec. @ 133 mph Front mounted air-to-air intercooler cools air charge from dual ball bearing turbos. Having instant boost on tap at nearly any rpm makes this Ram SRT10 feel like its 2000 lbs lighter. Low rpm and part throttle acceleration are what you would expect from a fast sports car. Full throttle acceleration is just down right impressive - for any kind of car, much less a 5300 lb. pick-up truck. Damn those crazy yanks LOL that is a seriously quick truck!!

I dont think the xr6t fords are better engineered than the base models after all they are the same car other than the engine it's just the inconsistent quality of them, my car looks like it was built in a real hurry. I must have gotten a friday afternoon car or something. Don't get me wrong I love my BA, overall it is a great car i'm just tired of all the quality issues, the ba is light years ahead the el falcon my mum drives that thing literally started falling apart when it was just 5 years old. I took a gamble buying a ford thinking they may have improved but the experience I have had has scared me off Australian cars forever (except for the classics). I'm happy for you that you are enjoying your ford at least you didn't get a lemon. I would love to own an xr6t ute I think they look great, I was considering buying one but have decided to upgrade to an R34 GTT sedan instead as it seems all the the Toyota's and Nissans that my friends and family own or have owned have been far more reliable and better built than the falcons or holdens. Why should an australian built car fall apart after 5 years when there are 15 year old camrys everywhere still going strong. I know your ford falcon will have more potential for cheap modification than a GTT but that doesn't bother me I have learnt that no matter how fast your car is there is always someone else driving something quicker. I would just like a nice, refined car that is somewhat unique on our roads.

I replied to one of your other threads on this already so i'l jus paste my reply here incase you lose it or something. >>>>> Hi, They haven't caught up still 5 years behind in my opinion maybe more. And thats what everyone is comparing R34 to BA? I have a BA falcon ute and it aint that great, 70 000km more interior rattles than any reasonably new jap car ive ever ridden in, heck my fathers 1993 landcruiser rattles less!! Same again for my mates '89 silvia, with coil overs. The brake warning lamp on the dash of my ford comes on even though there is nothing wrong with the brakes, been back to the dealer many times and ford cant fix it god is it gonna be fun trying to sell the thing with that! Might take the globe out LOL. The tail lamps have been replaced a couple of times as a result of water entry, given up on that. I do understand that other cars have issues with that so i'm not to concerned, its just that this is the first car that ive owned that has had that problem, my other cars have all been over 25 years old. So maybe its a new car thing. You are right the turbo falcons are very fast at the dragstrip especially when modified. And it is the best falcon ever, the amount of falcon taxi's on the roads is testomony to their passenger carrying ability and long term reliability when used as a taxi. You are right I have never seen a GTR with a tow bar, manual BA falcons are rated to tow 1200kg (2300 for automatics) i'm certain a GTR could pull a box trailer with no problems its just that GTR owners choose not to i guess. The new x-trail is rated to tow 2000kg with trailer brakes so the whole trailer thing is not an issue. If you want to pull trailers buy a Cummins powered Dodge Ram. Once ford figures out all the little bugs in their cars they will be an excellent compromise. And I can certainly see myself blasting down the quarter mile in an xr6t! But if the turbo falcon interior is anything like the one in my BA ute you can guarantee i'l have the premium sound system cranked the whole way to the track so I can't hear the rattles! QUOTE(Falcon XR6T @ Aug 5 2005, 06:35 PM) After the release of Ford's first turbocharged car they couldn't have gone alot better. I've drove one, I got one, and I'm modifying one. And I was just wondering if Australia has finally faced up to the Japs after their defeat at Bathurst. Being extremely cheap to modify (I have over 260rwkw at less than $35k including the cars purchase price), I belive that the weight can be disregarded in this case because of the huge torque it has over the Jap cars and the huge power you can make very cheaply (I've started this thread again because I lost the other one). And plus, if a family occasion pops up you can always take them and friends with you, don't see many GTR's with a towbar do ya? Have your say...

Just me again - Pics :)
68charger replied to Calaisxtyo's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Nice!!! Love the wheels, honestly not much of a wing/spoiler fan but that is a sweet ride, well done! Cant wait to get my own 34 sedan. -
Both cars are quite nice, so for me it comes down to two things.. The interior, cos thats where I will be, and... the tail lights cos thats what most other motorists are gonna see. The 34 has the styling edge in those areas. Oo__________oO

I had my boot lid resprayed for $180, no holes to fill so maybe add another $30 on top of that. Hope this helps you. Most places will only take a few minutes to do up a quote so ask around.

Are R32 RB25DE and RB25DET the same?
68charger replied to B0oStEr's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Not sure about the de and det differences other than turbo (obviously) and compression. But have you considered going rb30det? I read that thread on it and if i remember correctly you can use rb20 manifolds on the rb25de head.
