Definatly agree with Mark these days are a really well organized with a good range of cars and some pretty quick lap times. But there is a class for just about any car regardless of lap times. There is plenty of track time and all the guys are really friendly. I would highly recomend these track days to anyone who is interested in getting out onto the track. As Mark said these days are a credit to Paul and all the guys that lend a hand. Hopefully I can get Mark to get a few pics of my own car at the next track day.

Nice work Tod these mods should transform the car mate. Are you going to the next time attack day on the 23rd. I am planning on getting my car out there for a shake down and if all goes well will throw on a fresh set of tyres and see how i go. Will probably take a few laps to get my head around it as it has been 12 months since i have been to the track and have only done a few laps in the car so will be taking pretty easy and easing myself into it. Hopefully i might see you out there mate.

Looks like you have put the car on just a little bit of a diet Mark !!. Car is looking mega tough mate will be good to catch up at the next track day I am planning on having my car out there for a bit of a shake down. You doing morning or afternoon session ?.

Congratulations on your purchase of your new toy mate.

Nice looking front bar Mark no doubt would have been pretty savage on the bank account although you often get what you pay for. Will be interesting to see how much quicker you can go with some more power and a bit of suspension tuning. I think you might have your work cut out for you trying to better the cup cars time though the thing went quicker again last track day now lapping 54.3. Certainly will be good to watch you have a crack at it though.

Rb25de (supercharged) Project
dazmo replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Fair call might be best of with an extra loom for the road car and just use the autronic and swap between the road and race car and just upload wichever apropriate map. worth considering as is pretty hard to drive two cars at once. At least that way you can then just buy yourself another sm4 when the budget allows. By the time you spend the coin on a vipec link you will be a little more than half way to a new sm4 anyway. -

Looking good mate HKS RB28 is the best combo around IMHO especially when matched to a pair of HKS 25/30's. -

Rb25de (supercharged) Project
dazmo replied to r33_racer's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Splurge out and get a good ECU mate MoTec or Autronic. The Vipec is overrated and not really that great an ecu the logging is shit a doesnt work properly and they have trouble acuratley reading a crank trigger. As Duncan said if you are going to get one you would be better off with a link as that is really all a vipec is although slightly Autronicized and the link is cheaper. I understand that budget is a big factor for a lot of people (personally i think the ECU is the most important part of any build so cant understand why people would not get the best available). Also consider that the vipec has been on the market for only one year or so where as MoTec and to a slightly lesser extent Autronic have been at the forefront of ECU tech for over 20 years hence being the controll ECU for many motorsport catagories and the prefered choice of a major percentage of some of the most successful race teams the world over and there is a much larger choice of tuner for either of these ECU's. Another point to consider is that a lot of workshops will sell you whatever product has the best profit margin in it for them and not what is neccesarily the best product. I know of several people that have coverted to a Vipec only to then find out they are not all they are cracked up to be and have since gone to a MoTec or Autronic and achieved a much better end result and one of these guys was one of the Vipecs biggest fans. -
I have several laying around my shed you can have one for free if you are going to use one. They are pretty useless and you would be better off with a relocation kit and aftermarket oil cooler but as i said if you do want to use a factory one you can have one for free just pay the freight or if you are on the gold coast or brissy area just pm me and you can pick one up.

Never said a car that has been tracked is worth less. Just pointing out that fact and to some people that are spending this sort of money a car that has not been tracked is more desireable to some people but also agree that some people would not care either way depends on you personal opinion. As far as a car that has been tracked being owned by an enthuisiast being maintaind properly that is totall BS as if you want to keep your warranty with an R35GTR you must stick to a strict service program as stipulated by nissan. I would strongly disagree that R35 owners are in the same boat as those that purchase a GT3 as some GTR's may see the occasional track day (and a small number regular track days) there is a substantialy larger amount of GT3's that see regular track days as that is what a GT3 is truly built for and the majority purchased for. Where as to regularly track an R35 and maintain warranty is a far more expensive option as far as running costs go when factoring in Nissans strict service regime. xGSiR the owner has previously owned Porsche's and having driven both i can say that the Porsche is a far more involving car to drive as the R35GTR can feel a little playstaion and the thing that makes the R35 as good and as quick as it is (the gearbox) is also the thing the detracts from the experiance for some people.

Owner is a good mate of mine and i can attest to the condition of the car. I have driven a few R35 GTR's and can definatley say the car drives as new. Has never been tracked and as his add states condition is perfect and will not dissapoint. Car also has full nissan service history. And the reason for sale is genuine as he has previously owned a Porsche and prefers the Porsche over the GTR. If I was in the market for an R35GTR I personally would not hesitate to buy this car. In regards to the white car that sold at auction it sold for $125 000.00 then you also need to keep in mind that there is a 5.5% buyers premium on top of that when buying from Pickles Prestige Auctions. That car also had no log books. And the other grey car that sold for 128k had 29000 klm's and had been tracked. So i would think that this car is well priced considering the history and condition.

Mate no need to use special seals. I have built several dry sump RB26's with my own dry sump kit and run them for several years now on track cars with no issues the only time you will have an issue is if you try and run to much vacume. I have not seen any dry sumped GTR's run vacume regulators on them and have not run one on my own car to date but plan on fitting one soon. From all of the research i have done and spoken to several race engineers around 12 inches of vacume is about the ideal amount to run for power production before you will have any problems with seals.

Nice work Tod . If you ever want any advise or help shoot me a pm mate as you know i used to have a pretty quick RB20 powered R31 many moons ago (featured in HPI issue 75 if you happen to have an old copy lying around). Should be a fun little package not so sure about the wolf though.

Hey mate nice build so far. But it looks to me as though you have a lot of the rear of your radiator core blocked off with the aliminium plate might pay to make some new brackets as there isnt much point having such a big core if the airflow cant get thru there because such a large area is blocked off. And just wondering why 5 fuel pumps ?.

The problem will be worn sinchro's more than likley not the actual synchro itself but the face of the shoulder that the sinchro seats on. It is common for the face to glaze up wich can be a reasonably simple fix as quite often the face can just be lapped with some lapping paste (the same as you would lap in valves in a cylinder head) and the problem will be fixed any decent gearbox shop should be able to do this for around the $600-800 dollar range.

Mercury marine coils are the go for a CDI system (the same coil used on a 2.5 2 stroke mercury outboard). Have used them on another car that i have built with good success. These are the coils recomended by MoTec for their CDI8 ignition system. Will have to enquire about costing for you. I will be able to make a nice neat mount for you in keeping with the quality of the rest of the build. But if anyone has picks of their mouning set up would still be interesting to see how other people would approach it.

Mike's Engine Build
dazmo replied to Ashy Larry's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Nice choice mate i think you will be happy with the outcome. RB28 is one of the best combos around IMHO but in saying that I may be slightly biased. Check out my build thread I imagine it is probably along the lines of what you are aiming for. I will have a few updates in the next week or so now i have finnally managed to find some time to devote to it http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Da...ld-t231223.html -
Wonder if we will see some broken gearboxs once people start messing around with gearbox settings. I would think it could prove dangerous in the hands of the inexperianced. But will no doubt transform the car in the hands of people at the forefront (Martin). As it seems that the gearbox is what makes the standard GTR so good but is also seems to be the achelies heel of the more modified GTR's should be some interesting times ahead.

From What i have heard on the grape vine it is not power that is the problem but aparently it has found a whack more torque. Should run a no once sorted .

Not sure if the above comment is aimed at me. But Opinions are like arseholes everyone has one. And on a public forum everyone is intitled to post their opinion. If only experts and people that had a wealth of experiance posted then the whole forum would be just about empty. I did speak to a few people that have used the tyres i have mentioned and all have told me they have found time and have also informed me that they will also need 2-3 laps to come up to temp wich would give me 3-4 hot laps in wich to try and put down a time. I understand that the suspension will also need to be tuned to suit to get the best out of the tyres. If the above comment was aimed at me all i can say is i never proffessed to know anything about tyres and can only try and report back with some results once i have actually been to the track and have some real world experiance with these tyres. Hopefully then there will be some actual times as a reference. As i said price was also a big factor in my chioce. If ity turns out that this was the wrong choice i guess time will tell.

For sure awsome times he is putting down. I am hopeing i can get down to those sort of times and maybee even give hime a shake up (hopefully). Want to try and do the "old skool" GTR's proud.
