  1. HKS will win hands down on response and outright power dont mess about with a hi flowed turbo as the results are usually average at best.
  2. Hey Richard the ikea stuff is definatley the go well worth the extra coin and as you said the lca castor rod combo is definatley the best on the market. Have fitted all the arms now and what a difference they make a bit harsh on a average road but awsome on the smooth stuff and turn is is a massive improvement. Lucky for me I got a good deal on all the suspension gear as it is generally pretty exy but one of the best bang for buck mods you can get for a track car as far as lap times go. Will be good to catch up again for a chat tommorow Paul just hoping we get a dry line on the track even better if the rain clears up for us but it is not looking like it. At least for me I am just treating it as a test session as I wont be trying to set a lap time or anything. Will only have 7000rpm to play with as am trying to sort out a ref sync issue with the ecu at higher rpm. Angus I am putting a Getrag 6 speed in the car just standard gear set as this should be more than up to the job. Just waiting on a carbon tail shaft to turn up (not an ACPT after the debacle from the last group buy) I have sorced it from another company in the states. Nearly all the tuff R34GTR's in japan either run a stnd Getrag or a Holinger so should be able to handle the power without any problem.
  3. Thanks mate come and say hi. Will only be taking it easy just a shake down but should be fun anyway.
  4. Just a few pics of the RUZIC engineering EM PRO2 installed and some nice new suspension bits. Looking forward to giving it a bit of a shake down on tuesday will be taking it nice and easy though just want to make sure everthing is all good and keep the standard gearbox alive untill my carbon shaft arrives and i can stick the Getrag box in.
  5. Strik3r do come and say g'day mate I think i saw your car but didn't get a chanvce to chat with you at not the last track day but the one before that. I was driving the grey R32GTR rego 26R32. Will look forward to having a chat. Nice to here mate give me a bit of notice to check out available track days. Morgan Park would be a bit of fun!.
  6. Hey Michael I believe from memory that the os88 sequential box is around the 12 000 000 yen mark wich is substantially cheaper than a holinger and it is also rated to 1500hp where as the holinger is only rated at 800hp. But in saying that i do believe that the os88 is more suited to drag racing rather than track use. And there is no choice of ratio's used you get the ratio that they supply and that is it. Hence Richard saying that the diff hears would need a change.
  7. Yea mate matty is a bit ghey thou I will be in his ear to wind the wick up a bit. That way when his tuner blows the engine in the car up i'll get another engine buld LOL. I have started on his new engine so now I am getting somewhere with my car I will get stuck into finnishing it off for him. Thanks for the comments guys I am looking forward to finnally getting a few laps in the car. When are you going to be back up this way Richard will hopefully get a track day organized next time so yourself Mark, Russ, Myself and a few other tuff GTR's can all have a bit of fun. Strik3r I will hopefully be getting to the track next tuesday for a shakedown will be taking it easy though just to make sure everthing is all good.
  8. Just a quick update Finally got some dyno time and got on top of some little issues with the car. I was having some boost controll issues that were holding me back in getting the tuning done. I originaly had the motec running the factory boost solinoid wich turned out not to be up to the job. Borrowed a boost controller of a mate that and thougt that would have sorted the problem but the solinoid in that boost controller ended up being stuffed as well.So put the good old trusty bleed valve on the car temporarily and problem solved. Ended up getting a preliminary tune up in the car the map is still a little bit fat and still need to trim the maps up a little but will get this done once the new boost controller goes in the car as no doubt the the boost curve will change once this is fitted so will need to fine tune everything to get the best out of it. We got the boost up to around 20/21 psi with a safe tune in it the car is making 557.9 all wheel HP at 7100RPM. The RPM limit will be around 8500/8800 RPM. we didn't push it any further on the dyno as the car was starting to squirm around on the rollers a little but as can be seen on the dyno sheet the power was still climbing so I would estimate that it is probably in the vicinity of 580/590 all wheel HP at max RPM. Will hopefully get the new EBC fitted and get it back on the dyno towards the end of the week or over the weekend and get a bit more boost into it as the HKS turbos only seem to really come alive and get into their eficiency range at around the 25psi mark going from previous experiance with these turbos. so hopefully will get some slightly better results once this is all sorted and the maps have been cleaned up. So glad to finally be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel . Will have another update with a few pics of some nice new suspension parts in the next day or so as well.
  9. No mate is not a vspec. The car does have a vspec sticker on it that was on the car when i bought it. I am 99% sure that you will need to replace it with a non vspec diff if you want to fit a mechanical lsd.
  10. Hey mate if you are going to spend cash on more guages I would highly recomend the ruzic engineering EMPRO2 engine monitor. Paul Ruzic (mountain runner) designed and builds these units they have been designed primarily for track cars as a lower price alternative to the motec aim dash's with all the same functions. These are a great unit very reasonably priced will monitor everything that you will need and keep everything nice and neat so no need for excessive number of guages. I will post up some pics of the one fitted to my car tomorrow. I cant recomend these units highly enough one of the best value for money mods for a track car. I am sure you can find some info on these if you use the search function but if you are interested shoot me a pm and i will send thru his contact details.
  11. Give us all update mate how is the development coming along?.
  12. I believe that if the car in question that ran the 8sec pass was running GT2540R turbos that they were would have been hi mounted as the older HKS 2540R was avaialble in a kit that hi mounted the turbos I believe. Can anyone confirm as I am not 100% sure. If this is infact true then Berry's and Pauls records would still stand. Just seems odd to me that there would be such little knowlage about this car as HKS would definatley want to take credit for this achievment. As we all know most records set by GTR's are usually very well documented. Dirt stick the low mounts back on and give it another crack mate. Would bwe great to see just how far the low mounts could be pushed in a set up maximised for the drag strip.
  13. Nice mod on the fuel lines there the bulk head fittings are definatly the way to go. looks really neat so will definatly match the rest of the car and a good idea to be able to get to everything from in the boot. I know what you mean with the limited space with the tank and subframe had the same drama on the R32 that i built. Lucky the R33 has a litle more room under the boot floor with the tank mounted further forward. will post up an update on my build in the next day or so have been busy sorting thru some issues. When you get down this way shoot me a pm would be keen to meet up for a track day.
  14. looking great mate will hopefully see you at a track in the not to distant future. Good luck with the tune and everything else. You have to love some of the high quality GTR circuit cars in the build at the moment on SAU. Looks to me like GTR's should be dominating a lot of tracks around the country in the not to distant future

I would not discount the R34 so quickly mate especially the N1 version yes they may be getting on a bit now but in an event like targa driver skill and experiance play as much of a role in a succesfull campaign as the car. This would be proven by the fact that so many different makes and models have won the event over the last few years WRX' EVO ?, LAMBO, PORSCHE, GTR etc. If you look at it any of the cars in the top 10 maybee even top 20 would be capable of winning the event depending on driver skill/experiance and a little luck never goes astray in these type of events.
  17. You should be able to set up a wet sump external pump for not a great deal more than using a jap brand name pump. As the TOMEI pump is around $2200 aud. You can buy a peterson 5 stage pump for less than that so I would imagine that a 3 stage pump would be relativly cheaper again. Add in associated brackets and a bit of fabrication on your stnd oil pan and I would think that this could possibly even end up cheaper to set up especially if you are handy with fabricating some of the stuff yourself. and hey presto no more broken oil pumps. As it seems that your set up is for drag racing it would be quite easy and not going to pose you any danger to set up an engine kill switch that is refrenced by oil pressure to save the engine should you lose a belt etc.
  18. Seems pretty poor to me to buy a supposed quality bolt on part that does not fit then to be told by the manufacturer that you will be required to modify it yourself or we will sell you a new one that will actually fit for a good price. Did they send you a prototype mistakenly ? I would think that they should have sent you a new balancer in exchange for the one that doesnt fit at no cost to yourself. I would be a little weary of the ROSS balancers myself as I personally know of several people that have used them and had a lot of problems with them throwing belts etc. They have all gone to ATI balancers and the problem miracuously went away. ATI balancers for the win based on my experiance and in my personal opinion.
  19. Car is looking great mate. Is a credit to you obviously lots of hard work gone into it. Will be interesting to see how it goes on the dyno best of luck to you mate.

Top effort by Quinn and a great result for the R35. It is lucky that he had a 35 thou as it seems according to some comments you could be led to believe that it is all down to the car and driver skill has little to do with it.

Gee mate you need to calm down a bit. I dont see why you feel the urge to shoot down anyone that doesnt agree with your opinion that the R35 is the be all and end all of performance cars. You do seem to have a bit of a chip on your shoulder and come across as though you belittle anyone who doesn't have the budget for an R35 especially with comments that you have posted refering to older model GTR's as crappy imports from salt road city etc. I dont see where Duncan was bitching about the price at all. I dont think you could argue that the R32 was built and designed about around the group A rule book to fist and foremost win the grpA championship. While the R35 is built first and foremost as a road car all be it an extremely fast one. At this stage it seems that Duncans comments are a fairly reasonable observation.
  22. Good to see your making some progress mate all is looking good to. Looks like it wont be to far away from getting sorted. You caught up with me pretty quick.
  23. Just a quick note. All ATS clutches are push type as they do not make any pull style clutches. And the clucth can not be used in an R34 as the flywheel is part of the clutch basket and is totally different to R32/33. The lowest HP rated carbon clutch that ATS make is rated at 600hp and the next step up is 800hp depending on the pressure plate used. $1800 is a good price as these are around the 3k mark new. I have personally used these clutches in quite a few different cars R32GTR,R33GTR, and R34 GTR and can not recomend them highly enough they are an excellent clutch and the only clutch i will consider using. Good luck with the sale mate and i am sure whoever buys it will be extremely happy.
  24. Must agree with Roy about the boobies
  25. A well sorted GTR will definatly be able to give it to the cup cars for sure. I know as I have built one. Built it for a mate of mine rego 26r32 and he was quicker around bathurst on semi's than Peter Fitzgerald in a cup car on slicks at the drive Bathurst event in december last year and the car has a lot more in it yet. Just for those that do not know Peter fitzgerald has raced cup cars very successfully for a lot of years and is no slouch behind the wheel. He was also quicker than a GT2 that was stnd and ran about the same pace as a GT2 that was extensivly modified all of the cars mentioned were on full slicks to. We have footage from the camera mounted on the boot of the car i will upload it for you guys to have a look in the next day or so.
