  1. http://www.bnecustoms.com/store/home.php?cat=453 well these guys emailed me back with that info, so I can only go on that... I will email them back! and ask for clarification...
  2. edit... double post!
  3. yep I will stand by what I said.... Its great it lasted as long as it has, and to make that from an engine that stock is designed for about 150RWKW is amazing... now rebuild with some more realistic components and it will live for longer.... but it will still go bang... just after more time 430kw that is crazy!!!
  4. oh and 80,000 unknown km? even standard engines on low (1 BAR) can bang out at that time.... sour grapes? I see Jim is replying, so we will get the truth soon enough
  5. ok to me that is wayyyyy too much power to expect to live, surely anything in the 400KW region is a short engine life, especially stock as you are implying.... 5,000km would be lucky in my book.... AFRs would be nice, but I suspect you have just over cooked it...
  6. ok this back in from the piston supplier.... "The rings are produced by CP Pistons. They are made of tool steel. Tool steel is harder and stronger than the chromoly ones that everyone else sells. Plus the tool steel rings seat a lot faster than the chromoly ones. You also get Chromoly 5100 series pins, and wire lock retainers." so they are made my CP?
  7. yep! leaving old Sydney town... well never say never.... but Adelaide is home, and plenty of GT-R friendly roads over there... I'll just commute for work you will need some semi's for that car of yours now surely!!!
  8. hey mate yeah I had the discussion about either of them a while back, I was just curious about the CP as I don't know much about them, and I know the arias are a good thing.... so how many km to go till u get some real boost?
  9. I can't see this thread lasting long... it is slightly worrying though.... oh and as an after thought, how about before this gets locked, you might post up the dyno sheet (latest one) with the AFRs on it.... if the tune is above say 12.5 : 1 yeah that would be in my books aggressive.... how many km since the last rebuild? how much AWKW? how many revs is it doing (max)?
  10. Ok Im looking for advice from people who may have done this, as Im about to go down this road with my GT-R.... basically truck or train? and what were the limitations of these (ground clearance etc etc?) I have been told by TNT that I need 5 inches... 12.7cm ground clearance to take it on the normal truck? what about the train? they couldnt answer that question on the phone.... any ideas? and prices obviously....
  11. G'day Mik, I can't say either way regarding the thinner rings, just that the CP pistons are for the RB26 and come in the 4 different options of size and comp.... I have emailed them regarding the rings spec... Rob82... no my engine is still in 1 piece... I was just asking out of curiosity.... I should think my engine should be going for sometime yet!!!! here is the link to the site.... http://www.bnecustoms.com/store/home.php?cat=453 and CP http://www.cppistons.com/sCompactNEW.htm
  12. sulking because I missed out! weather looked good too!
  13. http://www.mr2.com/ARTICLE/BlitzDualSBC.html http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/blitz_dsbc/index.html
  14. ok the reason I ask is I have found a place in the USA that does RB26 CP pistons... 86.5 and 87mm same as what cousin blitz has got.... I found the price to be rather reasonable, and that is with American rings matched to the pistons.... oh and that price would be me picking them up in LA but that isnt an issue.... but I am (touch wood a lot!!) not looking at doing this for a while, just curious as to the price diff locally... ok the second part of my question has been skipped, comp ratio?? pluses and minuses for 8.5 or 9 cheers!
  15. whyalla is a fair call I did live there for a smalllll time hmm interesting!
  16. ok who jynxed me.... power steering pump failed beleive it or not at the BEL garage BBQ tonight! no track for me not happy Jan... will be left to sulk and watch sandown instead have fun boys!!!!
  17. Ok before anyone asks, no I haven't banged my engine! (touch wood!) I have just been following the arias piston thread and thought that these seem to get the nod on some occations... so I gather they are made in the USA, what are the prices here like? 87mm seems the go also what about 9 : 1 or 8.5 : 1 ? I have found some in the states for $970 aussie... complete with rings etc.... ideas
  18. marko's will make super powah!
  19. ok here is a power run on a dynolog dyno.... 19psi
  20. I will still buy my ulitmate... 1.48 is rich tho!
  21. oh yes.... semi-slicks in the rain but I will just wind on more front torque and awaaaaay we go!
  22. mate did your engine go bang on the road or track?
  23. nice.... most of my mods are very non bling, and to the casual observer are hardly an issue, the only ones being the pod filters which might need a cover.... all the rest is well hidden from view
  24. ok update.... first attempt was to DUNCAN specs and it failed the pump, now I have a new pump with the rear wheel removed and the pipe blocked and all the assoc. crap removed also.... however, leaving the 2 lines under the car they are now taped into the return line from the rack with a loop at the rear... the trick part is that the fluid now runs to the rear of the car, and in the void I have fitted a small transmission cooler and it works great! you can feel the pipes on the return after a long run, and they are significantly cooler than the outward ones... also it increases the volume of fluid.... trial and error as they say! but this has served on the track and survived....
  25. hey Roy you have any times for Mallala yet? I will be there shortly...
