Just thought Id post the fix to a really strange problem that my car had just in case someone else encounters the same thing... i cant explain it... but it worked. Please excuse my poor technical knowledge. If every
Car: '89 R32 GTR
Problem: When cornering, taking off, or coming to a stop, there would be a solid clunk / thud.
Fix: Replaced clutch pivot ball and clutch
Long version of the story: I was sure it was a suspension problem. However all the bushes, shocks etc checked out ok. Then one day whilst driving, my clutch friction point dropped almost to the floor, clutch would still disengage... but only just. This prompted me to get this (what I thought was an unrelated problem) looked at.
Took the car to the mechanics and it turns out that the clutch fork pivot ball had snapped off. They rigged up some sort of replacement using a bolt of some sort, and replaced the old worn out button clutch with a simple heavy duty item.
To my suprise, when I got the car back, there was no more clunking noise! I cant explain this as the "clunk" didnt correspond to the depression of the clutch.
Hope this helps someone.
Jono.
