I'm in Bentleigh (Melbourne) & the new owner is in outer Melbourne. I'll let him announce himself.

It's been 2 1/2 years of enjoyable, trouble-free motoring, but it's all coming to an end..... My 2000 model series 2 RS4 was sold today & will be picked up on Monday after I get a new windscreen for the RWC. I've loved it & it's treated me very well. Just a pity the opposition leader (Mrs Laptop) couldn't see what a great machine it is. Anyway, its new owner - who's getting a bargain - will enjoy this car as much as I have, I'm sure. As for me, I'm now the owner & driver of a 1993 Mercedes E320 coupe. More style, less room & less poke. Let's hope it does the right thing & becomes collectable! Cheers to the lot of you......and you never know, you might see me in an M35 one day!

If you're looking for a straight, unmolested AWD Stagea Turbo, with the super-refined NEO engine, you've just found it. PRICE HAS BEEN DROPPED BY $1,000, AS OWNER IS GOING OVERSEAS IN EARLY FEB. See it in all its glory here: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...9&silo=1011 Comes with 6-stack CD & cassette player (plus Jap-spec satnav & TV), 4 excellent silica tyres, Xenon headlights, foglights front & rear, floormats & more. It's got the TIPTRONIC AUTO transmission with shift-buttons on the steering wheel & runs like a dream. Imported by the current mature owner in 2007 with 82,000km on the clock, it's only done another 25,000 in all that time. It's been pampered & looked after as the second family car. Has never had mechanical problems, but has had a NEW CAMBELT installed, saving you heaps. The best synthetic oils have always been used. Service records since purchase are available, as well as all the import documents. I don't want to sell this car, but the family has outgrown it & there's pressure from Mrs Laptop. Located in inner Bayside Melbourne. If you want a great reliable wagon or the basis for a high-performance sleeper, you MUST see this Stagea. Call Rob on 0408 579 313 anytime. Drive this car & you won't be disappointed.

BUMP (and new pics on the way!) -
My beloved Stagea has to be sold, because 3 cars into 2 people doesn't go......just ask my wife! It's a 2000 model RS4 auto in silver I imported it myself mid-2007 with 81,000km on the clock and now it has 95,000km and is running as well as ever. I've attached the pics from the auction on 25 May 2007, and I'll post recent pics as soon as I get around to taking them. Meanwhile, check the aucttion sheet and see for yourself what great condition it was in when I bought it ....it still looks just as good. This car has been our second family car, and has been regularly serviced, always using synthetic oil, and it has never missed a beat, other than needing a new battery & O2 sensor when I first got it. Features: - Steering wheel gearchange buttons - Xenon headlights (yes, I got them through compliance!) - Factory TV - Factory Double-DIN stereo with 6-stacker & cassette player - Factory Xanavi SatNav - 4 near new Kumho silica tyres This car has had an easy life and it shows. Spotless condition inside & out, and everything works as it did the day it came out of the factory. Averages 13l/100km in the city & around 10l/100km in freeway/country driving Comes with all import documents, RWC & 8 months rego. PRICE: $15,750 PM me or phone 0408 579 313

Thanks for the answers to my earlier question & sorry if I'm hijacking this thread. To those of you who have bought ARXs, can you tell me more about the suspension? Is it a case of "this suspension isn't sporty enough for my liking", or is it more like "this suspension feels like it belongs on a crappy American family sedan"? And also can you tell me if the car meets your expectations? I've got my eye on one, but I'm facing the same dilemma - ARX or spend the extra on the (better looking, in my opinion) Axis? Cheers - Sven
-
This may be a silly question, but why would you buy a car that's built to be raised higher off the road than standard, then change the suspension so it's lower? Why now just buy a different version that was made to ride lower to the ground?
-
That's what I feared. Thanks for the advice, Chook.
-
Thanks for the reply, Chook. But are you saying I can still receive Australian stations WITHOUT the FM expander? I understand that reception quality would be better with extra amplification, but I have the original Jap stereo, so surely I would miss out on most of the Australian FM spectrum??? At the risk of quoting Pauline Hanson: Please explain.
-
Sorry if this is a little off topic (despite working in radio for years I know nothing about electronics), but............ Does this have anything to do with the fact that even after having a signal converter installed, my FM reception is really crackly? I can receive all the stations, but usually there's a fair bit of interference. Are these 2 issues connected at all?

NOT VQ25DD engine You can find the ruling & the workshops that are allowed to comply Stageas here: http://www.raws.com.au/SEVSRulingC.asp?RulingID=336 Now I'm not accusing anyone of anything, and I know there are people in this forum who have spent many long & fruitless hours trying to get a 3.5 litre Stagea complied. But I would like to know precisely where it says it's not possible, because according to this page, the only models that can't be complied are the ones with the 2.5 litre non-turbo engine. Also I'd like to know why J-Spec is telling me one thing & other people something else entirely. On June 27 this year (less than 2 weeks ago) I got this reply to an email enquiry about a 3.5l Stagea: We have been advised by numerous workshops after asking many times that compliance is no problem at all (including emissions evidence) for the Stagea M35 with the 3500cc non-turbo engine, it was only the 2500cc turbo which is still undergoing testing for emissions however even that will be finalised within a matter of weeks as the test car has been done now. If you are interested in this car but have any concerns then I would be happy to put you in touch with a compliance workshop and/or have them put something in writing to confirm that compliance is available for this car immediately. Regards, Craig Moor J-Spec Imports www.J-SPEC.com.au (Australia) www.J-SPECIMPORTS.ca (Canada) I reckon the sooner someone can get to the bottom of this the better for all of us. -
M35: 2.5l Turbo Or 3.5l N/a? Pros & Cons
sven laptop replied to sven laptop's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Thanks Andy, that's interesting to hear. I thought the 3.5 couldn't be complied as well (there's a lot been written about it in these forums, I know), but just the other day I enquired about a M35 Stagea with the 3.5 (2004 model) that was up for sale on J-Spec Imports & the bloke there said it definitely CAN be complied. He reckons he knows of several workshops that have done all the testing (including pollution tests) and are prepared to put it in writing that they can comply those models. Does anyone here have an update on the situation? Also any word on fuel economy of both those engines? -
M35: 2.5l Turbo Or 3.5l N/a? Pros & Cons
sven laptop replied to sven laptop's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Thanks for the response, but I've seen the figures; what I really want to know is how they drive. The turbo might have more torque, but if it comes 3,000 revs higher up the range it's not much use to most drivers most of the time. So if anyone can give me their own impressions from driving both, I'd be very interested. -
Can anyone who's driven both tell me the pros & cons of the 2.5 litre V6 turbo as against the 3.5 litre naturally aspirated engine in a Stagea? I know the 3.5 won a bunch of awards a few years ago as one of the best engines going around, but I haven't heard much about the 2.5 turbo. Also, how do they stack up against each other in terms of fuel economy? And final question: Is the 3.5 available in a Stagea model with the CVT transmission out of the Skyline 350GT? Hope someone can help. Cheers - Sven.
