  1. now that i've moved out i don't think mum will be too happy with me missing mothers day lunch! So count me out!
  2. thanks for the input both of you, i've already taken my turbo to a bloke here in SA and bought a new actuator cause i wasn't happy with how i'd set it up for the reasons you'd already stated! May have cost me a bit more but atleast i'll have peace of mind now!
  3. nah, been there done that, it almost hits the engine mount cause its on the standard manifold! The way its facing is the only way i can have it! Do you know if you can replace just the internals of your wastegate actuator? I'm just a little worried i damaged it while welding it!
  4. thanks for the pics, yes it is an xr6 turbo. I was thinking the plate would act as a heat shield??? (5mm thick) Could i have damged the diaphram by welding the rod? I couldn't mount it off the compressor housing as it fouled wherever i put it given i've put the turbo on the standard manifold!
  5. haha, think mines the only silver one!
  6. well as some of you know i'm in the process of putting an XR6 Turbo on my Rb30 Twin cam, most of it has been reasonably staraight forward apart from the actuator was fouling the front compressor housing so i made this little bracket and shortened the travel so that now it doesn't foul anything. Basically i want to know if anyone can see this being a problem now or sometime in the future? I tested it with compressed air and it opens fine! One thing i noticed after welding it was that it had a lot more movement in it, due to the heat. Could i have damaged the internals of the actuator? Can anyone see this being a problem? The other things is that the wastegate flap now only opens to about 45 degrees, could this be a problem?
  7. any pics of what u mean? Can't picture it!
  8. i'm getting there, give me a break fella's. (I guess things take time when you do things yourself to save money!) The hardest thing about putting this turbo on with the standard manifold is that the actuator fouls with the front compressor housing when trying to use the standard cooler piping! so u need to make up a new bracket! Darren, i'm hoping that i have full boost before 4000rpm (14psimax) and i'm hoping that i won't need to redline past 7000rpm but i guess only time will tell, as soon as i have this actuator problem sorted i'll be going to see Sean! Joel, Haven't got to the bottom of the problem yet, will do once everything is back on but one thing Andrew (sky30) did mention when he was down in Adelaide on the weekend was that my oil could have been a bit higher than what it was supposed to be and this caused the breathing probs! Have u got your new valve spring in yet? Oh and to make thing worse now my daily driver is off the road with a blown diff so i have to drive the mrs's swifty around which is hard when i'm trying to pick up parts i need and she needs the car, arghhhhhhhhhhhh!
  9. think you'll find a cop has got your rego and reported u to regency, i'd be expecting a letter from regency for u to come and have an inspection!
  10. cheers guys! Andrew, u get the engine home oright?
  11. series 2 rb20 turbo's are bb. Put it on and see how it goes, probably make good top end power but not too sure if you'll be too happy with the midrange. I wold probably say an rb25 turo is a far more user friendly turbo and very streetable for an rb20.
  12. why didn't you do the engine mounts? Surely you've been through this thread and Joel's PDF before you did the conversion so you must have know they needed doing!
  13. as the topic says, i'm after a 90degree silicone bend. one end needs to be 2" and the other 2.5". Where can i get this and won't be charged through the roof like autobarn!
  14. looks like its not ball bearing to me either! Dunno if i'd be putting this on an rb20!
  15. looks like its not ball bearing to me either! Dunno if i'd be putting this on an rb20!
  16. Not sure if it was a mistake or not but u said you bought the rb25det head! If you did it will be a bit of a hassle putting it into an R32 as you will need the R33 wiring loom and it will also not look like an rb20 any more! But as most have said the money you spend on an rb20, if you spend the same on the rb30 you will be laughing. I have spent close to $7000 and should be pushing somehwere between 240-280rwkw's if nothing goes wrong! RB30 POWER!!!
  17. i'm pretty sure they will fit!
  18. good to hear gav, about time! Can't wait to see it!
  19. cheers big time! I totally forgot about him! Emailing him as we speak!
  20. surely someone must have gotten new lines with there turbo recently?
