  1. If you are just renewing cams they get them out quickly. I did mine last week and got the new sticker this week. But don't wait too long, no current sticker to verify then we can't let your enter. Sux but that's dam insurance rules again.
  2. And some photos from the half way house where I cruised today. All just straight out of the camera cause lazy
  3. I got a Panasonic FZ1000. It's a bridge camera (between point and shoot and DSLR). 1 inch sensor and does 4k video. I find I need the video features more and get decent photos as a secondary. Here is some sample 4k video I shot yesterday.
  4. Just having a quick play with my new camera. Pretty impressed with the image quality so far. Sorry for any Arachnophobic people out there (he's a little guy).
  5. Looks like SAU will have 1/2 the lot
  6. Good on ya Mark. MX5's do well at Texi's. The short wheel base, light and decent power makes excellent skid pan quick ness.
  7. Smoking the tyres to get to the next gate quickly is fine. Smoke until you can't see your car, not ok. We can only run these events while we are insured by AASA. We don't make these rules, they do. If you are clearly breaking the rules we will give you a couple of warnings. If the clerk of course feels that you've been warned and continue they we can ask you to leave. It is all about us keeping our insurance rating so we can continue to hold these events.
  8. I do want to add that it is easy to openly critique an event like this that is open to the public. But I applaud Nulon for taking a grass roots approach to come directly to us clubs for the event. These are real club owner cars that competed. It was very difficult for the club execs to select our team to represent us and there never is a way to make everyone happy. Kudos to everyone's hard work and Nulon for taking the initiative to create such a great series. I'm sure they will take learnings from this year and make next year's event even better.
  9. So, I checked in with the execs about an official showing. I have the SAU Banner but we're just concerned that if we put up a cabana the wind might take it somewhere or do damage to cars. I was suggesting that the best way to make sure we all get in together is to choose a meet up point before hand. Like what we did for the cruise from that parking lot on the other side. Then all go to queue up together so we can get placed together. There are some cafe's there. Meet up for Brekkie before hand?
  10. I checked mine this morning and I was approved too. Looks like there will be an SAU official club showing at the show 'n shine.
  11. I've entered my car but haven't heard anything either.
  12. I needs track day!
  13. ah, nice. Was just odd cause I noticed other times the revs were up but it didn't light up.
  14. Nice laps. What's the read light on the tach? Is that an oil light coming on?
  15. No body flagged wanting the GoPros. Last person to rent one was Alex B and he has his own now. Last 4 events I've taken the time to charge and prep - no takers.
  16. Hey KC, Sounds like you have a good outlook despite the situation. Condolences for your pride & joy mate. I had an on track incident with my Wife's MX5 a few years back. When you stop and think about the calculated risks, a track is still the best place to let loose our cars. All too many fatalities occur on public roads where speed and 'objects' are factors. Given the speeds we do at the track, most walk away from accidents. If you want to chat to someone who's been in your situation feel free to PM me.
  17. Hmm, maybe I should enter the beast. Should be run in by then. With Reece, Liz, me and prob Dave we just need Cassbo to make it a reunion tour!
  18. I tend to agree with Aggro. Lose the cable tie. The pin is just a safety but having that cable tie over the bit that activates the extinguisher, while probably not a problem could limit the ability to open 100%.
  19. Good luck SAU Team! Go knock their socks off!
  20. Please email your entries to [email protected]. Thanks. If you do not pay and there are paying entrants then we will have to bump you. But that hasn't happened for a while. Also, be sure to get your AASA or CAMS license before hand. We can no longer take entries on the day.
  21. Well some has a case of the crankies. How about a piece of candy?
  22. Last time was great, so count me in!
  23. +1 to what others have said. There's no easy or cheap way to build a motor correctly to last. It is unclear what other components and what thickness of MLS you are using. That will affect your overall compression ratio. I ordered 9.0:1 pistons but the block and head I bought off another member were both shaved ~1mm. Combined with a 1.3mm head gasket yeilded 11.3:1! I had to shave 2mm off the top of the pistons to bring it back to 9.0:1. Be sure that your compression ratios are going to be in check if you have a modified set up. So the block is already bored and honed? You say you already have the cross-hatch pattern. Again, I asked my shop to use a torque plate, check tolerances, true bores and hone. They had to do an additional 0.0004 to bring the bore back into round.
  24. Tez, have him look me up and call me at work. Prob can't fit it in tomorrow but since I work at IAG should be able to catch up with him.
  25. I bought some pistons from Eric's Perf ebay and took forever to arrive. I was a good price but after the sale communication was lacking. He did come through, but was frustrating for a bit for my one experience.
