Dear son of rajab! Look at the speed he goes through! Would have been a hair raising experience had it gone through Alex. -

The Nulon girls were nice enough to pose along side Terry's car -
Great to hear your GTR is back on the road. Hope to see you at a cruise or something in the near future.

Zebra made a couple of passes but had an issue with the rear diff hence I put him to work for the rest of the day. I is evil > And zero plays on my video I posted. Is it working for people?

Hmm for those on the app my embedded video doesn't appear. Here is a direct link. http://vimeo.com/m/76594616http://vimeo.com/m/76594616

Thanks to all the helpers I actually had some time to get my camera out and shoot some video. Here you go in all that slo-mo goodness...

Dang! Dave is looking pretty good there!
-
What a day! Was absolutely stellar! Thanks to everyone that volunteered and those that stayed behind to help pack up and clean the skidpan.
-
And remember it's daylight savings today! Change those clocks. You don't want to be an hour late and have to wait cause you missed registration!

Luke, I've got some old radio gear if you want it. But it is really basic and old.
-
Hmmm you might not like me then. I've got a stock class X-ray 2003 that in its day way one of the top chassis to get. Still maybe organise a play day in Nov. although Terry thinks I live too close to Hornsby to make the trek

Oh, and there's a bunch of netball courts behind my house here in South Tuzza. But shame I don't have too much time to run. Was thinking it would be fun if a bunch of people bought something like this and agreed to keep them bone stock. Now days with brushless and LiPo batteries would be loads of fun. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__24338__1_16_Brushless_4WD_Mini_Rally_Extreme_Edition_AUS_Warehouse_.html

Do you actually want to race or just run for fun? I used to be into racing years ago. My equipment is REALLY old by current standards. Castle Hill is probably still running as it was one of the larger clubs. Races Friday nights from memory, but can't remember the schedule. I was a regular at Brush Farm but I don't think they run anymore. If you want to race, have a look at this site. http://www.rctech.net/forum/australian-racing-29/

Yup, it's my car. I custom made the lip because I have the driveway from hell and it ate the original plastic lip. This one is 1/2 height but comes out farther. It is fibreglass and carbon and has lasted 4 years now. So even though it looks high to folks, it has stood the test of time and clearance on the road.

Yup - 3 of em folks. First in, best dressed.

Um, Dave. Read the rules. -
Just remembered that most of the inconsistency is introduced from Dashware side of the equasion. (I'm out of practice cause about 10 month since I've had a track day boo hooo! ) I "think" DashWare doesn't try to interpolate it's polling. So for instance, when I was doing the drags the times were up to 0.2 out. So it reads stoped then moving 0.1 seconds later but starts timeing from full stopped. Then likewise I think it stops the clock when you pass over the mark. Thus not really all that accurate. The devices that have 1hz signal actually assume the time based on the maths of where the finish line should have been between GPS pulses and then linearly split up the time.
-
I think it is mainly due to the software and approximate location of start/finish. I'm not fussed. In the car time lets me know if I'm faster/slower. That's what really matters to me. I haven't really tried to fine tune to match natsoft.
-
Yes 0.2 is against drag and lap timers. Think about it, if your GPS is polling 10 times per second that's 0.1 s per data point. Dashware and QStarz software seem to calc crossing the line differently. Most of the time it's pretty close to Natsoft but can be out up to 0.2 across different software packages. If you want more accuracy you have to be willing to pay $100's more. Just part of the technology really. And Jimmy, you still have to open both video and GPS files, pick a point on the track and sync them that way. It's a but if guess work to get it right. Think about it, you aren't starting the video and GPS capture at exactly the same time at the track so you have to do it manually on your computer in Dashware. All just part of learning to deal with the Tech. I can get it down to about 10 minutes of fiddling now, but that's after lots and lots of practice.
-
You also have to manually sync the video and GPS data. So be sure to set the clock on the gopro so you can easily match video file to GPS data set. In dash ware you the have to use a slider bar to line up the data. If you aren't good with software then you should just pay for a more expensive unit that does it all. I'm pretty savvy but I know others find it difficult. When I have my lt6000 mounted on the windscreen I have no problem seeing it. I keep it set in lap time but it uses splits to estimate how you are going. Better than best lap will have green background and worse has red background while giving you a stop watch style counter on screen.

Adam, yup that's the one. The hex body is 21mm and 14mm at the end. I need to get a 21mm spanner. I used an impact socket when I could reach, but the trans in the tunnel fowled the GTR front drive shaft. Grrr, had to use an adjustable spanner along side the drive shaft. But still way better than rounding the insides with a 1/2 inch drive. Amazing how much that 0.5mm makes such a difference in torque.
-
I mount it on the front window that is what the recommend. Occasionally you'll get a signal wander that causes the location to move about 10m but timing still works fine. I don't think you'd want it on the steering wheel as that would take your line of sight too far away from the track.

Contour made one that had GPS but didn't give you lap times inside the car. There are other dedicated solutions that do that, but they cost a lot more. Check out Race Recall.
