  1. Most phones don't have high speed GPS sensors. So to get more acurate you should have a dedicated GPS device capturing at 10 hertz. But phone apps are ok as long as you aren't looking for too much accuracy.
  2. I bought my car from Sebaz here. He bought that motor from Brett cause they were mates. So I just had the Motor and Autronic SMC set up from Brett's car. Not sure what happened to his car. I didn't really know Brett other than the one time we were introduced by Sebaz when I bought Seb's GTR. My car was the only Joviant Built one I've come across.
  3. This drain plug socket is worth it's weight in gold!
  4. Unsure about that car. But my car was originally built by Brett at Joviant. He closed up shop about a year after I bought my car. I think around 2008. This was his GTR (that motor is now in my car, btw). http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=1930 I will say this. For a 2003 built motor it is still going strong. I just did a turbo upgrade and just about ready to bump up the boost for another 50 kw or so. Although it could probably use a freshen up. It has about 50,000 k's @ 260-320kw.
  5. How's this for cool tools? I got all this for $55 shipped to my door from HK. Gotta love sites like DealsExtreme. Take a while to ship stuff but uber cheap! 7pc Steel Dremmel Saw Blade Kit 4 piece Stainless Tweesers 3 different wool polishing tips (12 pces each) 6 piece dremmel Rotary File Kit 4 Titanium coated End Mills and a MicroSD reader thrown in to boot!
  6. I use the LT-6000 and really like it. Works as advertised and the data logging is quite good. Down sides: is only accurate to about +/- 0.2, but honestly not like us club racers are trying to qualify for F1. Also, the software and interface aren't the easiest to use. But for $400 and gives you real time lap times in the car plus green/red projected times on your lap your doing, it is a great tool.
  7. Dam! Wifey booked a date night. I'm out unfortunately - my exec spot can be taken.
  8. I got a new PB last night. Was really fun but cold tarmac made launching tricky. I tried a couple of times to go for reaction time and could hit 0.1s ok. Best was -0.06 - Yes, Redlight but hey 6 hundreths.
  9. Who else is here? I'ma having a ball!
  10. Looks like I might be able to make it this week, and the weather is looking ok. So who else is going to show? Kinda hard to miss my car - White R33 GTR with Carbon DiNoc Roof and Kanji graphics on the side.
  11. I did my helmet as a test. Does work as advertised. It goes on spotchy, but as it dries it does flatten but not totally. In general for spray on plastic it is pretty good but not a perfect finish. Do recommend for those little project though.
  12. I believe that for club track day the AASA $50 license is fine. But for CAMS you have to have L2S (>80kph). Also you have to get CAMS through being a member of a CAMS club. SAU NSW is a CAMS club so you can obtain through us. Best to go to the websites and read the info on their forms.
  13. Nice pick up guys. Would be very interested to learn more, but not sure how much info will come out. Highly doubt our fav Current Affair will pick up and run this story
  14. Darn it! Just starting a new job so not sure if I can make it on the 14th. Will check in here though, still itching to take the car for a few passes.
  15. I've been meaning to get back there too. Can't do next week. How about 14th or 21st?
  16. Does anyone use this site? http://motormouth.com.au/pricesearch.aspx Interesting stuff there. Doesn't cover all servos but I hit about 1/2 dozen round my post code. They also have iPhone and Android apps for $3. Might be worth it if you save that in 1 or 2 trips.
  17. Non car related video but here is my latest video from our holiday in the Philippines. I found that using the slow motion effects from my camera really added to the "production feel" of the final video. Then I did some other small effects like speed-up and just a few transitions to round it out. It is a bit long, but this is primarily for my brother in-law's family. It was a two week trip condensed into an 8 1/2 minute video.
  18. I'm really surprised that the Pymble BP is cheaper than the rest. Must be on the cheap day of the week compared to others. I find that BP is usually at least 5c more than either of the Shell stations on Ryde Rd near Gordon and one in Macquarie Park. I'd also be interested to see if the PULP 98 fluctuates as much on weekday rates as the e10.
  19. I've got a couple more shots from holiday. But I do have to admit to being a bit lazy. Even though I brought three cameras (FZ200, GH2 and Sony Action Cam) I pretty much did all my shooting with the point and shoot FZ200. It has nearly fit my needs for a Full HD Video, extra long and decent wide zoom, and hi-frame rate slow mo video. Just the sensor is small and gets noisy as light drops.
  20. What, no pics of the SAU Clubhouse? Son, I am dissapoint!
  21. Generaly commercial CNC is expensive because it isn't so much just running a program (what most people think). Proper CNC requires tuning of the GCODE and other mechanical machineing and materials factors. Suggest googleing "CNC Service". There is also a mob in the US that now does 3d Printing including coated or infused plastic - e.g. alumide dust infused plastic. They do ship anywhere in the world, but unsure of pricing. www.shapeways.com
  22. She usually does them in batches folks. Don't worry, you'll get your membership stuff.
  23. Bring the Greenie! Would be a good car for it!
