A Very Quick Question - About The Gearbox Breather Thing
Pezhead replied to JustinP's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Thanks for the info guys. Was looking at mine last night trying to figure this out. Also didn't realise it went at the top of the belhousing, which was done back up and now on the motor mounts. Doh! Cable ties to the rescue! -
I can't believe I'm copying Luke. Won't be making it either - same reason. Motor gots to go in and still way too many things to do before it can. Mine's booked in for it's tune on the 5th and next weekend is committed already. Sorry I'm missing out on this, was really looking forward to it.

hehe, Today I'm putting mine back in too. Seems so many GTR owners doing the same right now.

We now have an annual point score challenge for our SAU NSW members. They get 5 points for attending tech nights. More info at our website: http://saunsw.com.au/leaderboard/
-
Point score standings are up on the SAUNSW Website. ( I think I missed one of the delaminators so pop me a PM if it was you). http://saunsw.com.au/201213-points-score/

Hey Greg, even though this isn't an "Official" SAU Tech Night I think we'll still honor tech night points. I'll be sure to bring a member point score sign up sheet for anyone that wants their 10 points for attending. If you wouldn't mind mailing it back to me after the end of the event.

I love hearing about businesses that behave this way. So many are just out to rob you blind.

I work with someone who is going through an $400k court case where there was a direct and clear voilation of the law that was even well documented. So, quick summary - if you are made of money you can probably chase all the loop holes you like to prove you were technically right. If not then try to stick inside some reasonable boundaries. So at this point the legal interpretation is up to the readers. I think we all have our own opinions and suffice it to say that none of us want to test out the full extent.
-
Well, I don't want this to get out of hand but unfortunately for insurance you have to think of the worse case scenarios and have your mitigation plans set on them. When holding any sort of event in public there are always considerations. Luckily, we've never had any major incidents at any of our events. Key to that is our explicit citing that poor behavior won't be tolerated and will be reported. But that doesn't mean we ignore them. Quite the opposite, we regularly discuss prevention measures at our exec meetings. I'm no lawer, but best to consider some of the following: 1) What if the public reports the event - can you prove you have not done anything illegal and that you have taken appropriate precautions? 2) What if somehow public property is damaged - or worse a member of the public is hurt? 3) If the authorities do show up how do you approach them and demonstrate your considerations? The SAU NSW CAMS affiliation does provide us with Public Liability cover for our social events. This allows us to register our official events and provide basic cover. Also those events organised by the club are run from the club - a legal entity. For small gatherings it probably isn't worth considering. But as soon as an organsied event reaches something that the public would deem "sizable" should be considered.

Drill Press, compressor and robot saw I bought there 12 years ago - all still going strong! (despite their Chinese heritage)

Here's another bit of kit I picked up at Hare & Forbes (Machineryhouse). Oh and their showroom floor is better than santa's workshop! If you haven't been there and live around Sydney it's worth a wander. But leave the credit card at home or else risk walking out with a full size stand up mill!
-
Yeah, but by the end you were putting in some quick times there DIF. Impressive for an Auto!

Another Yamashita Hack job. Did a great job locking the flywheel in place. Not bad for a hack together with just the band saw and drill. Ah, the upgrade saga on Godzilla continues.

I recently got the Sony Action cam for testing too. It does 120fps in 720p which is interesting. Also external mic 3.5mm jack too.

Yes, I'm familiar with the GTR. Has a fair bit. Can't remember the power figure but pretty sure is north of 300kw. Also that Kakimoto zorst sounds horn. Last time I ran against him in my 33, he beat me every time (he can steer too!).

Buying Non Turbo Silvia, 180Sx Or R32-33 Skyline
Pezhead replied to Nathan95p's topic in New South Wales
I'm curious too. Hope you've taken on board some of the advice in here. My son and I are looking at lots of NA cars in the $5-6k range. There are quite a few options that are reasonable. I'd also say that if you want one of the "hot" imports wait till your off your P's. They will be even cheaper in a couple of years (buys you more for $$) and you'll have all your points then. Doesn't take much to lose your license over one poor judgement when on your P's and if you're driving a "target" import all that much more chance of getting done and taking even longer to get your fulls. Most people that have driven both NA and turbo 180, S13, R33, etc say that there just isn't any comparison. So, what are you deciding (or decided) to do? -
So, does anyone else find it interesting. The top two cars for the day were #9 and #5. #9 was the Lance in his Dark R33 GTR with the white LMGT1's a prime example of a beautifully modified GTR. #5 was ~Anna~ in her essentially stock MX5 Just goes to show that you don't need $1000's in a modified high power car to perform well at Texi. Well done to both.

So, who wants to see some texi results? Why not head over to the BRAND NEW SAU NSW Website and check them out! You'll find them in the "Leaderboard" section! http://www.saunsw.com.au/

Thanks. The saga continues. Aggro and I battled it all day and well into the night on Sat, but motor is finally "hanging" in the engine bay and pump is off. Gears look in great shape which is terrific peace of mind, but now have to decide if I should roll some new ones in or not.

Here's a few of my snaps from the day. It was sure nice to be able to take some time to enjoy the day - again thank you helpers! Also wanted to thank the entrants that helped us set up and tear down. It is really great of you folks to pitch in and makes it all that much easier for those of us that come to work at every one of these.

We can submit a new CAMS but cannot renew you. AASA available too both around $50. But you MUST be a paying SAU member for CAMS. AASA you can just rock up and get it.
