CAMS forwarded me some info on the Coates Hire Temora 1000. This is not an SAU official event. It is being run by the NSW Commodore Owners Club. I'm just shareing the info that was passed on. They didn't communicate how many spots were left. Of course we also have the SAU Nationals coming up that has both a track day, show-n-shine and airport runs coming up in November too if you want to do runway runs with all the skyline boys. R33 Gtr Parts From Wreck - Sydney
Pezhead replied to fatz's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Hey Pete, How's the boot plastic thingo that goes across the tail lights and covers the boot latch? Mine is broken so looking for a replacement. -
As always super nice pic's guys! Matty, as one of the novice guys in here I'm realistic that I know I won't have the time to develop the same skills you guys have. I just like taking the occasional photo or playing with a technique or two from time to time. But I do agree that these threads do turn into a whole bunch of eye candy (of course that's what keeps me coming back). What about sharing some of the technique on the photos - so like that fire one for instance. I see stars which indicates you've done a long exposure without the really bright light sources, some light painting to get the top of the car showing and then of course the flame shot. I'd love to understand how you combine those in post. I know that's kind of revealing "trade secrets" but us amateurs don't want to make any money from it, we just want to be able to kind of get closer to some of the shots you guys do. Just a comment. Or should we start another thread - "What would make this photo better" thread for honest critique? Again, just putting it out there as the novice that loves coming in here to check out what the pro's are up to.

I use Corel Video Studio for editing. The big key is that it is way easier to learn than premier or final cut pro (pro level editing software). It is a mid range package around $120 (buy on-line!). Does the job pretty well for us amatures. As for slow motion - do a bit of research. I'm saving up for a new GoPro Hero 2 - it does 120fps in 480p. Slow that down to 30fps and get 4x slow motion. The trick with slow motion is to get software that can pull the frames out so you don't lose them. A lot of software just holds a frame for 3-4 times longer giving jerky motion.

Found this on Jalopnik - 24 minutes so get a snack before you start watching.

I've used the 3pod Camzilla at all kinds of tracks - including a 220kph pass @ oran park. Just make sure it's on a good clean flat section and go for it. BTW - the lower the angle the "faster" things appear. I have one of those 3M pads in the front intercooler air intake area - always looks great!

Oh yeah, nice white R32 GTR coming down Kissing point road last night around 8:45 pm.

I've got this system on my car too @ 300kw. It registered just over 95 db above 5000 revs. But it has a good tone and doesn't drone.

Excellent result Mark! 5 seconds - that's Huge! Hmmm your and my times were very close before so now I better get crack'n on my upgrade and skillz! Good job.

You fellas that want video need to help out with the timing & BBQ so I can break out my gear. Brought it on the day but it never saw the light of day cause I was too busy running around behind the scenes. (See you do miss my videos - you know it!)

Unfortunately Ian, I can vouch for this first hand. Hey next time come up and see one of the officials and we'll throw you a hi-vis vest so that you look all official like. Thanks for the pics.

Spot The Difference - A Big Thank You To The Rta
Pezhead replied to Dose Pipe Sutututu's topic in New South Wales
hahaha! Classic! -
I've been working a bit with digital sensors lately and even if the electronics are polling at say 100hz the sensor will have circuitry to "dampen" the reading. There would also be a theortical limit to the speed at which the sensor can operate vs the electronics managing the signals. I've seen systems that operate at say 1000 hz but the signal only changes at 5 hz due to the capture rate. So long explanation to say that a newer G Sensor can probably send better signals to the Attessa system - but as indicated here, it is hard to figure how much difference it would make. Also since this unit is targeted at performance, they probably boost the signal to fool the computer into thinking you are driving harder - so get more aggressive with teh Attessa. On the note of testing the Attessa - found that my burnt out clutch packs could free spin the front wheels but couldn't handle any load. I found this by jacking up the rear only with a trolly jack and using the front wheels to pull the car forward. Obviously for safety reasons not far or fast. Without putting it on a 4WD dyno, it's pretty hard to put actual load on the system.

Mr. Cassbo looks like our next budding photographer! Some great shots on his FB page. Good reason to get on his friends list. Thanks Matt!

Hit me up with some information and we'll turn this into an "Official" SAU tech night. PM me, N1GTR and Goldzilla. Sounds really good!

Benji, a track day is a lot harder on your car. Oil control, water temps, brake temps all see a lot more stressful conditions than Texi. What is straining on Texi's is just the guys that like to sit on the rev limiter doing burn outs (bouncing the limiter is hard on the engine). Limiter bashing will kill any motor, period. And you can't expect to make lots of power without breaking something from time to time - the two go hand in hand. For reference my car has been going to Texi's and track days for 5 years I've owned it and aside from the occasional technical glitch mine is still mechanically sound @ 300 KW. Regular maintenance, oil changes for track days and taking your time to do things right on your car pay off (and not abusing the living hell out of it). But ask anyone, I do not "take it easy" at a texi. My car see 7k launches all day long. I just prefer to drive for times rather than lots smoke, but I do still enjoy the full on 4wd slide. Track days also keep your turbo pressures spooled up longer so if your car is prone to issues from that (like heat, cooler piping joints, etc) then that is where you have dramas. I thought that a few of us recommended staying away from suspension and power mods until you get used to your car, but obviously the mod bug has bitten. I would have recommended a larger radiator, oil cooler and proper oil & temp gauges before any other mods go on the car. Making sure your car operates within safe levels is the first rule of longevity. I'd also recommend an oil temp gauge in addition to a proper water temp. Turbo cars are hard on oil - that starts to break down around 120c. When my car hits that temp (usually only around 5-6 laps at wakefield) then I do a cool down lap and come in. My 2 cents.

Pezhead replied to Axis-D's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Thanks buddy, that's actually the same size as what I've got. Would be a great replacement for a stockie! Good luck with the sale. -
I wanted to say Ginormous thanks to all the organisers and helpers that make these days go so great! I know I run around a fair bit on the day so if I didn't get a chance to thank you personally please know that these things rock & roll due to all the behind the scenes work. Also thanks to the entrants - hope you had fun. Based on the ear to ear grins, smoke screen antics and a few exploding tyres, I think good times were had by all! It's a real shame about the few folks with mechanical dramas. Honestly though, Texi is a great place to shake down your car before you drive all the way out to Wakie or a track where the punishment is a lot harder and a much longer ride back on a towie if something is going to break. I didn't see Luke or Matt's runs, but the other few cars that I know had dramas were run pretty hard. There were smoke shows where I literally couldn't see 5 meters in front of me out at the marshalling area. Hope the repairs go well, but well we must love our cars cause we all keep coming back to do it again
