  1. Weatherzone currently says 5% chance of <1mm rain. High of 18, low of 5. Let's hope that holds cause it sounds perfect for a track day!
  2. Plenty of spots - in fact only about 1/2 full but that means LOTS of track time
  3. Andrew! Been wondering where you've been at. Shame you are working... Can't you call in a sickie? Cough Cough..
  4. Gregor spotted me on Lane Cove Road today and I spotted him walking back to his office with arms full of $1 loot from 7-11 dollar days today. lol!
  5. SAU does the scruitineering on the cars. You'd be surprised that when you go to a speed off the streets day (or some other clubs) scruitneering works on an "HONOR" system. Personally, I have great peace of mind that the SAU boys look over the cars to ensure it is basically mechanically sound. (Back on topic) Have a look where it is coming from under the car. Might just be a drain plug washer or something simple. A few drops during a whole day of sitting isn't really too much bother from a scruitineering point of view, but if we look under your car and the whole underside is coated in oil then we probably won't give you a pass. Mechanically you are responsible for your own car so you have to appease your own peace of mind if it is going to be ok. Oh, and Martin there's no timing so we just put the cars into groups (a colored sticker on your car) there are no car numbers so run what ever you like .
  6. Naw weren't me Kat. I shot down the M4 from Springwood but took the back roads home via Cumberland Highway and Pennent Hills Road. Who's the imposter posting as me in a White R33 GTR? hehe. And Yes, on a bad day Paramatta Road can be shockers! My first time to the SAU clubhouse took 45 mins from Homebush to Haberfield.
  7. Looks great guys! Sorry I missed it, I'm working on a secret project for the club and had to choose where to invest my time. Looks like a great turn out.
  8. Ryan thanks a lot!
  9. No problem at all as long as they are firmly fastened (GoPro Suction Mount is ok). In fact SAU:NSW has three for rent if you want one, PM me. $35 for the day that includes me posting you the raw videoon a DVD(set) after the event.
  10. I'll be heading down after work on Friday. I usually stay in town but sometimes the road crews that stay in Goulburn Inns get a bit loud on a Friday night. So I'm thinking of staying at the Best Western Trapper's inn this time since it is away from town and quieter. If you want to stay in town so you can walk to the soldiers or worker's club for a beer then stay in town and you can walk. I think the Alpine Heritage in town has a large back lot for trailers. I don't think Trapper's inn has trailer parking in the complex but there is a servo across the street with a big back lot (only if you don't mind leaving your trailer out of sight). I'm not a big drinker but happy to quickly catch up with ya on Friday Night (I probably won't get in until around 8 pm though, and retire early like around 10). Also, Goulburn is a sleepy town an there isn't much open early before the track day. It's difficult to even find a coffee other than Maccas.
  11. I thought I saw ya coming the opposite direction. I think I gave you a flash of the high beams.
  12. Jeff, I agree with Dave. You'll find that not many folks here are very impressed with folks claiming to drive hard on public roads. It is a reason we offer so many driving events in this club. Now that lecture is over. If you want better car control from suspension I'd suggest getting your suspension bushes checked out before you invest in suspension gear. We had a suspension tech night a few months back and they really stressed that these cars are getting old with many k's. You have to expect the stock rubber bushes in the suspension gear to be at end of life and needing to be replaced. Once that is sorted then you have a good solid base line to decide what it is that your suspension needs - ride height (coil overs), roll control (sway bars), stiffness (Springs/shocks), damper control (shock/coil over), camber/caster/squat/roll center adjusters, etc. But the answer isn't really as easy as "do this and it will handle just the way you want." Suspension matching to what you want is really about getting a well balanced set-up that suits what you want to do with your car. Agree that if you want better control and ride then I'd start with replacing worn bits first - bushes, rod ends & stock shocks if they are worn out. I just happen to have had it done two weeks back and it has totally transformed the way the car drives. I didn't realise just how much my rear cradle and arms were moving about under cornering and bumps (especially bumps). I can highly recommend that as the first place to start.

    March 2012

After the Chocolate Cruise yesterday I stopped by Waragamba to see what the overflow looks like in person. Snapped a few shots but really didn't take the time I should have to set up some decent stuff. Was incredible how many people came out to see it too. Last ones are a couple of shots from the car cruise.
  14. Here's my quick photo wrap up from the day. Great to meet everybody - hope we didn't lose anyone along the way.
  15. Choco Choco Choco! Let's get it on!
  16. Still more stag sightings - blue with 34 GTR Rims in Maquarie Centre car park at lunch time today.
  17. Oh no, pretty clear this was an American study
  18. Pretty obvious why you're single Matt
  19. Hey Ryan, I'll take you up on that offer. I have the timing sheets just haven't had the time to transcribe them. Send me your email address and I'll scan them and send it to you.
  20. I think the Stag's are breeding. Seen three since the weekend. First was in Thornleigh Bunnings carpark - black with nismo stripes. Second was silver one on Pennent Hills rd and then White one turning onto Yanko Road this morn on my way to work.
  21. Don't want to put a damper on your efforts here but SAU:NSW will also be holding it's Official Putty Road (not Old Putty Road) cruise in April. Details on that will be up soon.
  22. Also, I found that 22psi launched the best. Sounds low but has lots of initial bite. I've only done one full day of drags so interested in hearing what others run for tyre pressure on standard streets/semis.
  23. Honestly side stepping sounds impressive but is very hard on the drive train. Basically you are jolting any loose slack immediately with a lot of power. I prefer (as mentioned on several folks here interested in keeping their drive train on the car instead of under it) to preload using the handbrake. Bring it to 7-8k revs, hold handbrake and let out the clutch just enough until you feel the car lurch forward. Then you can sidestep on the green but you aren't jolting the drivetrain nearly has hard.
  24. Ooops no charge for passengers they just have to sign on at the office. (Hey Dave can you fix that up?) We cap the day at 40 entrants. It has always been our view that fewer cars on the track and fewer groups means you get more open space on the track and more track time. That is the SAU value proposition. We're actually running this track day at a loss that is subsidised by other club activities.
