Agreed on the rig comments Matt. Photo 1 FTW! I'm starting to build a boom rig too but home projects and work keep getting in the way. Hey, when did you put a carbon lip on your car? Is that new? LIKE!

I Wanna Make A Funny Video, I Can Has Help?
Pezhead replied to hamiltonau's topic in New South Wales
So I was about to lay down for a nanna nap and a couple of ideas came to me. What if instead of a busy interesection it could be over a parking space at the mall. Maybe class between import dudes and muscle cars. Benm knows a bunch of camaro guys. So, could be some little old lady (anyone have a nanna that has a good sense of humour to be involved?) taking her sweet time backing out of the spot. Both other cars arrive on the scene at the same time. Time for class of the rev heads! Imports -vs- Muscle. I think the idea of the dressed up crew would be funny - especially if filmed all getting out of the same car like a clown car. Then do it up video game style, maybe street fighter/mortal combat/etc but with silly comps. So like first one is a thumb war. Maybe the one of the gang cheats with a "Thumb" extension that makes their thumb way oversize. Stuff like that. We could get some of the big guys from SAU like Benm, Andy Moo, Chubs, etc to act on the Muscle car size with the imports being represented by ninjas or some'n. There is a place in HK that does cheap custom t-shirts. Might be funny to do spoof type shirts for the muscle guys. So use logos like Everlast but pansy it up - pink, hello kitty peaking over the logo, stuff like that. Videography could use extreme close up, fisheye and extreme speed ups to add humor. Also dramatic slow-mo for run up for the conflict (kill bill style) but then silly competitions. The mall spot idea works because we can set up in an empty mall but use the extra's actors cars to make it appear busy and full. That way we don't risk run in with the law. Maybe that mall out in Erina Fair might be good on a Thurs night. Could set up in a corner and not interfere with normal operations. I've got some royalty free music that might work. A composer dude puts his stuff on the internet. He writes/scores stuff for all kinds of video work including short films like this. Well, anyways that's just what came to me right before my lazy Sat nap time. -
I Wanna Make A Funny Video, I Can Has Help?
Pezhead replied to hamiltonau's topic in New South Wales
Hey guys, As long as someone does the organisation, story boarding and scripting I'm willing to help out with a bit of filming and editing. Just please keep in mind that for 1 hr filming you get a few minute of usable video and then those few minutes take hours to properly edit. Not unlike proper photo editing. You can get an ok result just cutting, splicing and dubbing but the real finish comes from about 5-8 revisions fine tuning timing, audio and "Feel" effects. It might be really funny to use the fisheye perspectives from the GoPro's. When you shoot from about 10-15 cm you get the really out of perspective fisheye effect. This could be used for some really dramatic out of proportion feel to enhance the funny bits. Also use of speed works well as long as the camera work is stable enough to not distract. Might also be cool to do a tilt shift effect to make it look like a miniture stop motion deal - this would be much harder to film as you have to get the right perspectives, dof and background to make the tilt shift effect look convincing enough. Some body needs to lock down the idea and story board it to get the best effect. -

Can I get some pics of the steering wheel? Condition? Thanks. -
Rainy in the Thailand Jungle Thanks for the kind words guys. Here are a few more pics I just put up. Here is a game - which one(s) were taken with the iPhone and which ones with the Nikon?

Those do look awesome. Wonder if we could organise a group buy?

Hey there fellas. You know that stills really aren't my thing but on holiday you have to take a few snaps. Here are a few from Khao Lak Thailand. I should have set the ISO on the dusk pics cause they got a bit grainy. Other tips always welcome.

Gts-R Video Ready For Viewing!
Pezhead replied to R31Nismoid's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Hey Ash, Like the others have said this is a great video. I really like the camera work in the garage scenes showing the details of the cars. The dolly work really adds dimension. They also did a great job of varying the interest by use of shooting from different angles but spliced together to make it seem as though it was continuous (like when you get in the car). I also loved the use of close-up, speed-up and focus. That makes the whole effect look really professional. IMO the bit inside the car and the drive was too long. You are discussing a lot but after a few minutes I lost interest and found myself skipping forward to get to the next bit. Unfortunately that's how we've trained ourselves now. Anything more than a minute of the same drains the viewers attention. I think it is also more distracting because of the movement and the lovely sound of the RB that I don't listen to you as much. Might have been better to have the camera where the rear view mirror is so that you are talking into it while driving and there is less distaction for those shots as you focus on the driver more instead of inside the car and stuff wizzing by in the side window. It is also a bit of a tease to hear you talk about the performance of the car but not get to experience it. Some high speed flybys, Deca work or some track in-car would go miles in adding a bit of excitement to the mix. During the in shop interviews would have been very tricky unless they were using multiple cameras at once. If this was a "budget" deal then they did do an excellent job. It's only barely noticable as they switch from close up to pan that it would have had to have been done in separate takes and try to get the audio and dialog to match. Did they use two cameras? If it was only one they did a surprisingly good job - as you guys would have had to have done too if repeating the dialog. Let them know well done. I know how much effort it takes to put a production like this together. And well done to you two guys in the interview too. It isn't easy to seem at ease in front of the camera and you did a great job. Keep them coming! Nice to see some others doing video work here on SAU. -
Wow - top mark, you're now in the 10 second club. Well done!

Chris - can I come live in your workshop! Cleco's FTW - absolutely awesome stuff you can make with those. And those die - can you say super strong lightening holes everywhere. Do want! Very nice!

Just saw doof in Chatswood. Two cool skyline dudes cross'n paths.

I should have said it's billet. I doubt it will fail but I guess time will tell. Already been on there two years and I do frequent oil changes without any signs of fatigue. But I guess if done in steel then would be pretty sure too.
-
I took a different approach too with 5mm thick aluminium angle - worked out a treat. I can't imagine anyone bending that! And I mounted my remote right in front of the front diff cover. The GTR's have a nice little tidy nook up there. Don't even have to move the oil pan when I drain the sump and filter. Not sure if similar space exists on the GTS-T's.

Hey fellas, I did one of these deals and got a hard cover book done up for SAU:NSW club photography we offer at our track days (Kory's and Matts's work). I used a different company than this deal but $39 for $161 of value is a pretty good deal. The quality and professionalism of the book I did really seems worth it. It's only good until midnight tonight so get in quick if you want to do it. PhotoBook Deal on Groupon Australia
