But I have to say that "I live my life a quarter mile at a time" is the corn-eee-est quote evar! Hey Aggro, if you do bring it let us know so we can bring along some popper corn. I've got an air popper but just not the same, you know. Can you also bring along that vacuum? I was at the club house and could use a little vac before. I plan to get there a bit early. -

Hey folks don't forget to bring a chair to the event. Otherwise you'll have to sit on the floor because our club house is empty right now. Looks like a two horse race - I'll bring both movies and we can do a final vote at the event. -

I'm bringing mine from home. So projector is sorted - see the whore thread in the members section. Spent tonight doing the mods to mount it on my heavy duty tripod. -
Yay - sanity prevails!

Got it - thanks. Only a handful of people have PM'd so far so we should have spots still available. -

Terry and I met with owner today. He did say that there is a fair bit of Skyline and Evo theft in the area to we need to be extra cautious. He said he would try to clear space in the yard so we have a limited number of spaces we can lock in the yard during the movie. Please send me a PM if you are interested in reserving a spot. It also does mean that we will have to block cars in so once you are in the yard you may not be able to get your car out until the end of the night. I figure if we end around 10:30 or so we may go to Maccas for hot choc anyways. We'll try to accomodate as many as possible but also means we will have to do our best on the night. If you have a daily driver, you might just want to drive that to be on the safe side in case you can't get into the lot. At this point, I'm not sure how many people will show up. Keep the votes coming in folks. -
Post it in the Japan thread - they should be able to help you out.

I just finished ripping my copy of Bullitt. For classics I've also got Le Mans for those McQueen fans out there. I also have the original Gone in 60 Seconds which was really a 2nd rate b-movie but the end chase scene makes the whole movie. (The car lot was actually owned by a friend of the movie producer - he just asked if he could shoot on location - who would have known!) I've yet to find a copy of Grand Prix (James Garner - again great flick for it's age. So maybe we make the next one a classics night. Of course Blues Brothers has to be on that classics list too. As for two movies - well ask Aggro, that puts me well past my bedtime. On the parking front, I'm a bit concerned about lot security for Jap Link. Tezza and I will be talking with them to ensure we take appropriate safety precautions since we will be in the club house during the movies. I might want to lock the gate behind us to ensure nothing happens while we on-site. Leave the logistics to Terry and Me, we'll sort them out. -

Initial D is a great suggestion. I have another list in the works that will be added over time but generally we'll keep the voting to around 6-8 movies as any more gets a bit too spread out. -
MOVIE NIGHT @ THE SAU:NSW CLUBHOUSE --> A Project Wifey* Charity Event <-- Since this is a charity event, we are opening it up to all forum members. Normally the SAU clubhouse is reserved for annual financial members only. We have this terrific clubhouse so let's start using it. We will use a projector and small sound system for the movie. However, since our clubhouse is currently empty, we need you to bring your own cushion to sit on or folding chair. A charity contribution for Proj Wifey of $7/person is requested but not mandatory. Where: SAU Clubhouse - 175 Parramatta Rd. Haberfield (on Jap Link Motors Lot) When: Saturday April 2 at the SAU Clubhouse Clubhouse will open at 7 PM for socialising prior to the movie. Movie to start around 8 PM What to bring: This will be a BYO C&B (Chair & Beverage) event. Parking: Parking needs to be done on side streets around the area. If you're not comfortable leaving your Skyline out of view then catch a ride with friends or drive a daily. The Rules: We want to portray to everyone in the neighborhood what a responsible club SAU is so no silly business. Burn-outs, engine reving, loud stereos etc will not be tolerated. The SAU club house is located on Jap Link's business premises. The lot, business space and cars are off limits. General responsible behavior and good etiquette is expected. *Proj Wifey: A lot of you will know that another car ran into my wife's MX5 at a track day. I'm running a series of charity events to offset some of the financial loss. Contributions to my personal fund raiser are totally optional. We will run a few of these charity movie nights and then they will resume as a normal club social activity. At that time they will return to annual financial members only events.

Glad the disks are making their way out. What tyres are you running? There is a huge difference of a GTR on street tyres vs Semis. This is especially true if you have bumped up the power levels. And, No the GTR won't just go where you steer it. Don't listen to the 2wd haters out there calling you a cheater. You still have to drive it - and can be a bit harder if you go in too hard cause the power to the fronts can cause understeer. Give it a few track days and you'll find your times getting better and better as you learn to drive the GTR the way it wants. Took me a few trips to Wakie and I'm still learning. -
look'n good there Matt!

Here is one of Steve-O's passes. I just threw a quick video together to see how the NSW GoPro's worked out.

I have a whole stack of burned DVD's here on my desk ready to go out folks. Should see them in the mail within a few days. -
Hope to see ya at the texi but Gd2ila's sidelined until we get finances in order. Just as well I'll focus on helping out and filming. Keep up the good work and glad you're fixing that rust spot. You'll be so glad in the long run even though is costing a bit of time and money now.

I just got the first disk of pic and Dave there is a Classic one of you just finished playing in the dirt somewhere. Huge cloud of dust behind your car clear as day. Classic! -
Dave, the interior looks absolutely fantastic! Good job on the sound proofing too. Don't let the young bucks get to you, enjoy your car the way you want it. It is a good thing you found that spot but trust me, take it to a pro. I can do a little welding but it is so easy for stuff to catch on fire when welding car panels. And, better to just have it done right so it doesn't come back. Be sure they coat top and bottom with etching primer and sealer. Good luck with the build. I'll be watching this space.

Actually, I have read the waiver and it is very clear that you are waiving the right to sue pretty much anyone within a five mile radius (I know Yankee expression) or even remotely associated with anyone or anything at the race track. Fair enough, I do understand why it is there - to protect motorsport. I have no intention of pursuing anything remotely like that as it will only damage the sport which I love.

They will be soon. They are in the mail to me and once I duplicate them they will go right out. -
First and foremost I thank Thunder for the gracious offer but I am going to have to decline. It is a thoughtful gesture, but my wife and I have made up our minds that our fund raising activities will only be social events that have no commercial/company involvment. As to the incidents that Thunder has posted, yes those kinds of accidents do happen in racing where cars are competing to get into the same few meters of track. Our track days are not about that. Our days are about private individuals having the opportunity to learn the performance characteristics of themselves and their cars. That is not the kind of environment where cars try to compete for those last few meters of the racing line before a corner. Those that want to race door to door can join CAMS, get their log books and go racing. Simple, as a member of SAU you can get your CAMS and you just need a log booked car. There are quite a few on here that do just that. But, a track day ISN'T racing! In fact anyone doing anything of the sort on a track day would be black flagged. The last thing I want in this thread is a bunch of sensational and frightening images that scare people off track days. I still fully support track days and SAU for providing the venues and opportunities to take our cars out to a controlled environment where I can gradually learn to performance drive.
