  1. Thanks Mate, I thought they turned out pretty good too especially considering how much of an amateur I am. Helps to have the scenery and when the weather cooperates.
  2. Earlier this month was in Queenstown NZ. That place is so perfect for practicing those really wide panoramics. So I got to working on a few. Really pleased with how a few turned out.
  3. Well, good news folks. I have Tenchi's photos, but there are so many it's going to take 2 DVD's! Yes, over 8 gigs of photos! I'm going to be a burning fool this weekend. Will try to get them out as quick as possible.
  4. Thanks Guy - Champion! Won the battle for us.
  5. Took a few hours to edit and unfortunately lost a lost of quality in the recompress for youtube. Original is in 1080 HD.
  6. Nice shoot'n Tench (play on 'nice shoot'n Tex). It was great to have you out play'n for the skyline boys. I'm sure it will take some time to go through all the photos, there's a lot of interest from all and knowing you do such great work - anticipation. Thanks for the teasers.
  7. Spotted oh so many fine examples today at wakefield. Was great to hear all that RB music!
  8. Wow, glad the old mate is ok. I thought I had a bad trip back. Cyl 3/4 throttle body is stuck open 10% for some reason. Caused the revs to sit a 4-5k on idle. I figured I couldn't drive home that way so I pulled into Maccas for some diagnostic (how I found it was Cyl 3/4). So I rolled that throttle linkage back as far as I could but still idle was 3k. Got almost to the M5/Georges Rd exit and massive stopped traffic due to an accident. I could see the rollers up there and figured I'm done for. Thought if they stop me because of the stuck linkage they'll hit me with the defects. Luckily they just cleared the accident as I approached the off ramp and I could pull a lazy 3rd gear bog down the 2k as I drove past. Hey thanks to all the SAU guys that did so much work on this day. Was terrific and great to see so much new talent hitting the tarmac learning the in's, out's and whohhhaohhhohhhhoooo's! I saw many smiles and could really tell the improvement a lot of guys made through out the day. Top notch!
  9. Sorry I missed you folks at the Workers or Soldiers. I didn't get in here until 8:30. Easy task of changing rims ended up being a real mess with a stripped lug so had to replace a stud. Lucky I had a spare but set me back into rush hour which was a nightmare. Took 2 hours to get from my place in Turramurra to the M5. Now, sleeping tonight is going to be harder than Christmas Eve. Can't wait for the fun to begin tomorrow morning. See you at the Track.
  10. So, for the people staying overnight - is anyone meeting up for dinner? Where?
  11. Cool Tenchi, That's an very early start to your day to get yourself there that early. THANKS! I'll be there early too with the sign up sheet for anyone wanting the Photo DVD.
  12. Everybody be sure to check out the details thread over here http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Sa...ps-t327842.html. Details for the day and now exciting news about the photography package on offer on the day. Go check it out!
  13. * * * Exciting News * * * SAU:NSW will have a club photographer at Wakefield offering services at amazing rates. The SAU:NSW executive team has been hard at work negotiating with a photographer so that we can offer reduced price, high quality photos on a DVD for you to remember the day with. It's a win-win situation, you get great quality photos super cheap and help to support local photographers. Imagine, these could be photos of your car! (Actual samples of Tenchi's work - he will be our club sponsored photographer for the day) How's it work? At the track there will be a sign up point where you can pay $20 as a member or $30 as a non member to sign up. Sign up consists of self addressing a CD/DVD mailing envelope and signing in on the photography clip board. You need to make sure that you clearly identify your car so that the photographer knows to look for you. You will need to list your name, address, car make/model/color and racing session number. Within 30 days we will mail a DVD out to you with all of the photos from the day, not just your own. What a great way to remember such a fun filled day and get some great action shots of you driving your car. Cost: $20 members / $30 for non-members. Payment only accepted in cash on the day.
  14. Yeah, was good see'n ya. And was cool to have three GTR's line up with the two Evos and Silvia on the opposite side of the road. Awesome sight so much power just waiting on tap
  15. Yup, they are Lenso D1R 18 x 10 +22 (for GTR) in Hyper Silver. If you need a place with good price give me a PM. I got them for $300 a wheel. Great Price for such a fantastic looking wheel in my opinion.
  16. Thanks mate. I made it myself. Check the Fabrication threat - Carbon Lip DIY.
  17. Or use electrical tape over the mic hole. Muffles the sound but pretty much totally cuts the wind noise, which is better.
  18. I like silver on white, but I'm biased. I just put these rims on the car.
  19. I will have more info about photography services on the day. I have to get the last ok's with the exec, but the current plan is to have a club photographer there. I will have a sign up sheet where you can pre-purchase a CD (maybe DVD) copy of all the photos from the day. If you do pre-purchase, then we'll make sure the photographer gets shots of your car. I may also have my in-car video available on a similar arrangement. I'm still working on the finer details, but the idea is that if you want some in-car, you pre-purchase and will put the in-car video camera into your car in the pits. Go out for a few laps, then return it. If the Video idea goes ahead, then will also be included on the DVD. I would then do the post event compilation of all the media and mail out the DVD's within a month of the event. Of course, you can have your own friends take amateur shots.
  20. Your 12 hr guess is way off. Just always look faster when you see it in blog form. This build took about 70-80 hours. Each step is about a 6-8 hr day. The work was done over about 7 weekends taking nearly a full day. Now, I realise that others could have done the work faster but I think the best you would be able to do is maybe 30-40 hours if you were a really fast worker with good tools. So do the math even if you were paying someone minimum wage 70-80 hours adds up to a lot. Materials are about right per your estimate. I bought supplies enough to do other jobs so will outline here: 2 part Epoxy Resin 5lt - $129 (only used a fraction of this stuff about .75 lt for this job) so about $19 Fibre glass cloth is about $14 a yard. 3 layers took about 3 yards of material. So $42 Carbon cloth was ordered from the US $30 per yard + $50 shipping. The material had to be 3 yards long, but only about 10" wide so you could do 3 of these with that. Fixed cost for three yards $155 but only using 1/3 the material lets say about $50. Wood - particle board was like $25 each x 2 - about $50 Consumables - latex gloves $10, sand paper $20, bog/filler $20, acetone cleaner $20, etc - about 70 So total in materials would be around $231 but the initial outlay is much more depending on how much materials you buy at the same time for other jobs. Kind of makes you realise what a bargain some of the body kits are. I mean I couldn't buy the materials to make a front bar for what they sell for, let alone the time it would take to do the mold work. I still like doing projects like these because it makes something 100% custom for my car that no-one else has. And its done the way I want it to look. And of course the pride in knowing it is my creation and labor of love. I wish it weren't so cold, I'm really getting the urge to do some more work. I think I'll do some sideskirt extensions before I tackle the lip extension. But have to wait for spring as the shop is just too cold.
  21. If you want a TV and can pick up on the Nth Shore you can have my shop TV. Is only a CRT 50cm I think. I've got a standard def digital tuner for it. If you can swing the financing check into some of the 0-interest deals going on. Wife and I did that with our dining furniture and outdoor stuff. Was good so we could pay it down in our own time - had like 40 months to do it. If you can work it into your budget then gives you a way to buy nicer stuff. Good luck with it.
  22. Thanks for the enthusiasm guys. I plan to start work on the rev 2 and the enhancements once the weather warms up. Bitterly cold in the shop right now.
  23. Just checked with them and they have a booking so it might take a little time for us to get on the track but they're pretty sure they can work us in. So if you're running a bit late - it's ok. Cya there. Call me on my cell phone if you want a status update - 0419 468 835
  24. Found this on Jalopnik this morning: Forum Wars Great idea factoring that all you have to do is post "I have a GTR and my mate has a GT3 Porche, who'd win in a race" and get 3000 posts on opinions. Now, having said that I didn't like the format - should have been drags, figure 8, skid pan and road course to give each car a chance to show where it shines. But like the idea of opening it up to amateurs to represent their forum. But was nice and short and entertaining.
  25. Come on along Stanley. Just meet up there around 1 PM.
