Hey I need some suggestions for music track(s) for the cruise video. I'm think of some summer type music. Maybe: Bob Sinclair All Summer Long (kid rock) hmmm.... Suggestions folks?
-
Yeah, I just got home. Great cruise it was nice to see so many skylines out'n 'bout. Now, I've got heaps of video to sort through.
-
Well, my darn cat woke me at 5:23 saying "FEED ME!". See you all soon. I've got the car wired with cameras so hopefully should get some good national park drive footage.
-
Ooops, I think I just put SAU cruise or something like that on my deposit. I must of had a blond moment.

Yeah, well I pulled it off this morning before I drove to work. Thought I'd look at it with a fresh outlook in the morning and well - it just doesn't give the effect I wanted. Maybe will try some angel eye highlights instead.

Eradicated This Vermin Living Under My Car
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I did a quickie alignment using a laser pointer across the wheel to the front of the car to gauge toe. It should be really close to what it was before the work as I took all the measurements before and after the work. Funny the right side ended up exactly where it was before, but the left was out two full turns on the adjustment arm. Yeah, next time maybe I'll check in the members forum for someone with a wrench, although didn't think I needed it until I got in there and found my adjustable spanner wouldn't fit. Now I just have to pull the HICAS dash bulb, but at the moment can't be fussed. -
Well look what I found living under my car. VERMIN! This darn Hicas! I've done two track days and find that that feeling of the rear com'n out just totally unsettles me. So today I've got my Hicas Lock Bar installed. The GTR is a bit more of a pain due to all of the bracing that is under the car. Had to remove the rear cradle bar braces to get to the lock nuts. Only real issue was having to stop and go to the autoparts store for a bloody $65 30mm spanner. Why did they have to make those lock nuts so big and so narrow. I couldn't get my adjustable wrench on it. Anyway, can't wait till the next track day to loose that "squishy - tails com'n round" feeling! Who here has done it and what were your impressions? I've heard good things. Oh, here is the new setup:

Ok, well I've been working on a kind of Eye-lid project for a few weeks on my 33 GTR. I don't mind the front of the headlights but just think the sides don't look as good as say the R34 or silvia/s200 headlamps because the sides just droop down. Since the R33 sides are so big, I thought OK I will make some "Side Lids" to reshape. After lots of paint issues getting paint to stick to aluminum, here is one side done. I have to say it didn't turn out the way I thought it would when I visualised it in my mind. So I'm looking for honest critique here. Does it make them look better or does it just make me look like a tool trying too hard. Be honest, I can take it.

Yup- $150. Gary is using a carbon based film. Looks good. I was pleased that the price is still so reasonable. He said that he would usually charge $240 without the group buy. He does charge more for 15% though if that is your thing.
-
You know when you do something to your car and it make it look so good that you just have to keep going outside to look at it? Well today I had the windows tinted. It's only 35% to stay legal but I think it looks so good. Greg through the group buy here did a great job, top bloke. I just love how a white car looks with tinted windows!

Sydney Window Tinting Group Buy - From Only $150 Per Car
Pezhead replied to Blitz's topic in Group Buys
I just got back from having Greg do my GTR in 35% (want to see at night and stay legal). He really seems like a good guy and did a great job. Here are a few pic's. One is with the sun shining through and the other is in direct sun so you get an idea. I just love how a white car looks with tinted windows! -
Paid up my $20.

So do you mean today or next Thursday?

Thanks folks, I figured that everyone would like to see their car so tried to get lots of shots of different cars. Also walked all over the track as you can see from the different angles. I was so worn out by the end of the day. Glad you all like it

OK - sorry 'bout three posts in a row. Here is the revised version with YouTube happy sound track (geez took three goes!): (Turns out YouTube doesn't let you use ACDC "Back in Black" - shame because it is a great track tune.)

That's pretty much the reason I bought mine. This Casio also does slow motion video. I can shoot 210 frames per second @ 480 x 360 res which is watchable. There are only a couple of consumer cameras that can do this that are under the $1000 price point. It also does 420 and 1000 fps but those are really unwatchable as the resolution drops to low. It really does pretty good 720 hd video @ 1280 x 720 @ 30 fps with mono sound. One other drawback is that the maximum HD clip length is 10 minutes. The only thing I wish it did better would be to be able to control the zoom while taking video. It's locked once you pres record. It also takes a bit to get use to the controls but that's because the camera does so much. Once you get used to it it's ok. I also couldn't find many places in OZ that sell it. Even the camera shops. It's a real shame. I've owned lots of point and shoots but haven't had this much fun with one since digital photography first came out. Oh, this is the place I bought mine on ebay. I was really impressed with the service for a Hong Kong based firm. The package you get is also very good including a large SD (you'll need it!) extra battery and little bag-o-goodies: LINK Oh, other things it does that are unique: Burst shot mode 30 x 6 megapixel shots in one second - catch that wheel lift over the ripples Night shot mode that is better than any other camera I've seen - it uses the burst mode in high iso but then merges photos together to average an image on top of that it's a pretty decent little still camera

Bugger! Youtube disabled the audio. I'll have to cut some different tracks for it and repost it.

Hey, I finished a second video from the trackday. This one has all of the clips I took from the day and a few in-car shots. Tribute to OP 2009 (It is just finishing now, should be up in a few)

I've been playing with a couple of different "cheap" setup's. If you're looking for the best solution < $150 then I think the best is to get a suction mount (ebay special) and a cheap point and shoot that does video. Quality of the video rises as the quality of the point and shoot. Last year I bought an Oregon Scientific ATC2k. It's mounted on the front bar. The sound is horrible due to wind noise and being right next to the blow off (yes, I should plum back the atmo). The video tends to wash out, but the positive is that it is waterproof. Although how often do we honestly race in the rain? I just use this now for secondary video (e.g. postage stamp in the corner of the video). Now my primary set-up is a point and shoot Casio EX-FC100 - it does 720 hd (and a lot more!). I'm very pleased with the quality of the video. Here is a video from the NSW Texi I took using using this setup: (Video in the lower corner is from the ATC2k on the front bar "bumper cam") It is really great for inside video but I'm a bit afraid to put my $400 camera mounted to the outside of the car. The last set up is a CCD camera (reversing camera actually) hooked up to a camcorder kept in the glovebox. The CCD is a VERY cheap ebay special - about $40. Doesn't do sound so that is missing. The good thing is that it is small and I can put it pretty much anywhere on the car. I plan on doing some low slung behind the front wheel type shots. It is also weatherproof so have more options there. The image is only fair and the colors get washed out really easily. Also the auto iso adjust is a bit anoying because the image changes throughout as you go towards or away from the sun. Here is some video using that set-up: Here is the type of mount I use for both. I was very surprised on the grip this little guy has. Had no problem with vibration and held the outside ccd camera @ 210 kph down the front straight! I just ordered two more off ebay for $15.

This is not an In-car but it is footage I took from the NSW Oran Park Track day.

You had the Yellow R33 that did the big left tyre lockup into turn one? I've got that in slow motion video. I don't have a lot of other video of your car just a few bits. If you want me to cut you a CD PM me your address. Didn't know you came all the way down from Qld! Wow, what a farewell to OP.
-
Aww, I tried to upload the AVI but the boards won't let me. I'll cut a better version and put it up on failtube. EDIT: Ok - it's up:
-
Yeah, when I put the music track in the big lock-up just happened to be close to the "dramatic" part of the music so I had to make sure that it hit that video just at the right part of the song. I thought it was the perfect clip for that hehe

When I get home tonight I'll post the video of Cass' off track exploration. I've overlaid the in-car so you can see how busy in there - look at that steering wheel go!
