  1. OK you asked for it... Here is a Video Movie Trailer for the day. I haven't had a lot of time to put too much finish on it, but so far it looks pretty good. (oh, and be sure to watch all the way to the end.. there is a nice surprise for those that wait for the credits) hehe
  2. ok boys, I'm working on the video. There are a lot of short little videos that take a bit of time to compile. I have to do chores today but will see if I can put a quick clip together tonight. I did shoot some video at the flip flop and a few photos (only a few from my pocket camera in between filming). I'm putting the photos up on photobucket: Photos
  3. Ok folks, I've got so much video and pics to sort through. Those of you who don't know, I'm working on a project for SAU. I'll be com'n back to get permission to use footage of some of the cars. Yes, I do have Video Proof of Cass' decision to play in the mud - in HD Also have footage of quite a lot of other cars too. Not sure how to distribute it yet as video is so hard to post on youtube and doesn't email. Will be more info for you folks once I figure something out.
  4. OK since I'm an import here in OZ my first experience was from my home town of Seattle Where: Seattle International Raceway 2.25 Mile (NOT K's!) has one of the largest elevation changes of any track in US. When: Around 1987/88 (Yes I'm that old! hehe) With Who Alfa Romeo Club (Only one's that would accept my Ricer Toyota Celica) Any pre-setup involved Check Brakes, tyres, remove junk from car. Favourite memory of the day I have a few... 1) Guy comes up to me and says do you know that you're lifting your right rear tyre 10 inches around turn 3A? Straight Axle! 2) Watching a Ferrari F40 blast down the front straight with fighter jet style contrails coming off the back wing! OMG! 3) Stock brakes overheated go from ok to nothing in no time flat! I nearly lost it off 3A - brake fade, had to pitch the car sideways to get it to slow down. I didn't even know what drifting was at the time To all you young'ens - I was rice'n before rice was popular in the west. I had an 18RG Jap import motor in my Celica liftback with twin sidedraft carbies (thought I was the sh!t at the time but now realise was only making like 130-150 hp) hehe. That day I learned I'll never be able to drive as hard on the street as I can at a track. I used to try to "Prove" something on the street and I learned to save it for where it counts, on a track. The pics aren't from that day (digital photography didn't even exist then ) But just to show 3A 3B turn.
  5. Parts off R33 GTR: Pair of Front Disc Brake Rotors Thickness measured at 28.4 and 28.6 mm. $50 for the pair. Pair of Rear Disc Brake Rotors Thickness measured at 20.6 mm for both. $50 for the pair. Pick up only as it isn't really worth the shipping on these. Location: Sydney North Reason for sale, upgraded to RDA slotted rotors.
  6. I ran a set of Hawk Blue Track pads at the last Oran Park Day. They worked great but did put a very slight lip on my brand new rotors - I think any serious track pad would. Lots o stopping power there. I couldn't believe how solid the pedal feel was with this combo - totally different feel to a stock pad. Now I have EBC Reds in (the ones I glazed at Wakefield Park after a 12 minute session). They don't have much initial bite now, but pull up ok at the bottom of the pedal - but the feel is so much squishy-er than the Hawks. Oh, and the Hawk/RDA combo went a full 15 minute session with 0 fade.
  7. I've been doing some research on preparation for club events. Here is a "check list" I found from the BMW Club of Qld. Looks pretty good. Track_Day_Checklist_Ed1.pdf
  8. Here is some in car footage from my run during session 2. I've still got a bit to learn about putting the power down smoothly and trail braking more into several of the corners.
  9. I was out at OP too and what a top day. There were so many nice Skylines out as Cass mentioned. The Red R35 sounded down right Mean which would indicate it has had some work done - at least exhaust. The Jade R34 GTR rego"NUR" (not sure if original N1 but had the badges) but they weren't driving it that hard. Top job to Cass for whip'n me by .6 sec in a stock R33 -vs- GD2ILA GTR I gotta learn to stop smashing the loud pedal drive smooth and brake late.
  10. I just got some touch-up paint made at AutoOne - Code QM1-Polar White. Unfortunately it doesn't match. It is a bit whiter than my GTR ('95 Series 1) - is a little bit "bluer". Fortunately I was doing some testing before it put any touch up on any scratches or anything. Anybody know how to get the correct QM1? The guy at AutoOne said there's a couple that are all a bit different. (due to local market having Nissan QM1 white different to the Japanese market one).
  11. Sounds Good to me - count me in. (fly'n solo cause the wife isn't interested in my Car Geek Friends stuff hehe)
  12. Hey here is another video (HD this time) it's of Tim's Silver R33 GTR doing powerslides through Course 2.
  13. Glad you got your pride and joy home ok. It is such a nice clean car and purdy engine bay! Hey I think I have one of my Slo-Mo vids of you running Course 2. I still have to convert it and u/l to youtube so should get it done in the next day or so. Nice meet'n ya.
  14. Thanks Folks. Info has been passed on. When he gets his work done I'll check it out cause I have some rock chips I want repaired before they turn into cancer spots.
  15. I actually had my front suspension on the softest setting to let it roll to get the weight transfer since we were at such low speeds. Of course then again my springs are very hard by street standards 8/10. Like Doof said, big difference between stock suspension and aftermarket coilovers.
  16. Ian - Fantastic stuff! Thanks for the great shots of my my Great White Whale (hehe). Are you going to be doing the Thursday run? Can I get you to bring GD2ILA photos on a USB or SD if you are? Again - thanks a lot.
  17. I'm gauging interest on this idea. How about we have a social day at a pub or Thurs Night Cruise to gather as much video as we can from the day. I'm happy to put together a compilation video in my spare time (prob take a couple of weeks to a month to do well). I can then put it up on YouTube or have SL!M put them on the SAU Channel. If you have video to contribute and could make a social meet then post a reply here.
  18. OK here is some in car footage on Course 1 and go2whoa. What a disappointment on teh Go2Whoa - I missed 2nd gear. There's two camera angles 1 from the rear window and one on the front bumper (overlaid).
  19. Here are a few of the pics I took.
  20. By Request Liz vs. MX5 Video: Listen to that wind in the afternoon!
  21. Here is a video of my GTR doing Course 2 - more slow mo: Another video of a battle between my R33 GTR and a Silver R32: Liz, I have a video of you beating the MX5 - shall I put it on youtube? (Jeez its slow to post vids there)
  22. Here is a video I took during the day. Was playing with the slow motion feature of my new digital camera. It turned out really spiff - wish I could have spent more time taking more video but was too darn busy putting down skids Is is just me or is YouTube slow as! (put a sound track on it last night since slow mo disables the audio).
  23. I did a similar scoring to Duncan's but instead used points scores per timed event (excluded the battles). So 50 points for best time, 49 points for 2nd best and so on. Based on that scoring model here are some more results (I suggest you pick which ever one is best for you) Timed Events Points Scores Points Position Course1 Course2 Course3 Total Points 1 36 Zane Robertson 42 41 49 132 2 26 Gerrard Sasson 48 33 48 129 3 14 Matthew Everingham 49 48 28 125 4 9 Duncan Handley 36 42 46 124 5 4 Philip Anayo 32 45 45 122 6 37 Reece McIntosh 46 23 50 119 7 38 Adam Baldwin 44 46 26 116 8 34 Michael Deitz 50 23 40 113 9 40 Joel Welstead 37 34 41 112 9 43 Silver Supraman 38 43 31 112 11 21 Jason Swavley 35 31 42 108 12 7 Eric Yamashita 43 29 35 107 13 6 Tim Hudman 39 47 20 106 13 42 Benm 47 42 17 106 15 10 Kelly Handley 26 37 39 102 15 16 Norman Chauaifaity 24 49 29 102 17 23 David Milano 40 39 21 100 18 39 Andrew Ong 17 44 38 99 19 15 Amy Worth 27 27 43 97 20 12 Jason Ong 34 24 37 95 21 27 Alexandra Hailstone 41 30 23 94 21 31 Jason Griffin 45 32 17 94 23 11 Matt Cass 25 38 30 93 23 25 Daniel Walker 30 39 24 93 23 17 Jeremy Koch 31 40 22 93 26 49 28 31 32 91 27 19 Paul Lewis 29 23 36 88 28 2 Thomas Katsowlas 16 23 47 86 29 41 16 23 44 83 29 34 Matthew Bentley 16 50 17 83 31 22 Thomas Grimmond 21 25 33 79 32 18 Nathan Jones 20 23 34 77 32 24 Adrian Sendt 22 36 19 77 34 30 33 23 17 73 35 20 Elizabeth Coor 19 28 25 72 36 8 David Hennessy 18 23 27 68 36 48 Paul Lewis 16 35 17 68 38 44 23 26 18 67 39 47 Anna 16 23 17 56 39 28 16 23 17 56 39 32 16 23 17 56 39 45 16 23 17 56 39 46 16 23 17 56 39 50 16 23 17 56 39 1 Dale McGeorge 16 23 17 56 39 13 Ben McLean 16 23 17 56 39 29 Tim Bentley 16 23 17 56 39 3 Andrew Metcalf 16 23 17 56 39 33 Marcus Eaton 16 23 17 56 39 35 Andrew Ong 16 23 17 56 39 5 Chris Quick 16 23 17 56
