I have a work mate looking for a recommendation. He has some basic white paint and dent repair needed on the door of his car. Anyone have a shop that does reasonable work for reasonable prices? thanks.

I swear I must be cursed. I managed to throw my back out this last weekend. Been in bed the whole week with a stiff lower back (I know here come the "stiffy" jokes). But Seriously, not only will I miss the Meet-n-greet but if the physio doesn't think my back is ok, I might miss yet another event. Let's see... Autosports EC day - Paid and missed due to drivetrain probs on the GTR SAU Wakefield Day - Paid and missed again due to shop stuffing me about Now Texi... ARGHHHH!!!! Let's pray to the spinal cord gods!

Jeez - this is really a worry. Maybe we should start a Defect Station Location / Date & Time sticky thread so we can see if there is a pattern or specific areas they target? Mods - do you think this is a good idea? It's a real shame as so many of us put serious time and money into our cars and are not the "HOONs" these laws are trying to target.

Recent Spate Of Break And Enters Into Homes In North Shore Area
Pezhead replied to mxfly's topic in New South Wales
Yeah, our alarm was like $2k but with lots of motion sensors and magnetic switches on the doors. They recommend that you just put motion sensors and not bother with all the windows. Ours is monitored and they did do financing so it was easy to pay down, actually all up with NRMA and our home insurance we got savings due to having it so it does pay back over time and the peace of mind is good. Our service calls when the alarm is triggered and well - since we still forget from time to time it's amazing they call in like under 2 minutes after the alarm is triggered. Pretty good. -
Recent Spate Of Break And Enters Into Homes In North Shore Area

You'll see a thread I created a few months ago. I live in Turramurra and had virtually the same thing happen. They broke in and took loose electronic stuff. They took my spare keys to the GTR since I had them in the open next to my cigar box and the NISMO key with a car alarm dongle prob gave it away. Since then I've replaced the alarm and had the entire car re-keyed. I've also added some other measures I'd rather not mention. What is odd is that our house is on a corner in a neighborhood full of stay at home pensioners and there is major construction going on across the street. It was the one day when none of the work crews were working. I think our house was done by some kids as they took my son's mountain bike from under the house and had brought the BBQ grill plate to the back door - obviously going to bash it in if they couldn't jimmy the locks. Not very professional. We've had a full alarm put on the house - and I have them add the garage to the house alarm so if anyone tries to get my pride and joy out at least the alarm will sound too. Too bad to hear their targeting the north shore. -
Hey I was just looking for the next weekend speed off the streets and see that there is a Club Event for Skylines Australia on their calendar for Aug 29th. That is the same day as the Texi. Does anyone know anything about the a Wakefield event for us on that day? Looking for a good track day where I can stretch the legs on the finally working 4WD system.

Yeah, I'd be checking your transfer case. Firstly, they are tough but one good run at power where the rears slip but front doesn't will toast the clutch packs in the transfer case. Try this, put the car on a jack (trolly jack with wheels) up until rears are just off the ground. Then slowly give it a little clutch to see if the fronts can pull the car forward. When my transfer case was stuffed it couldn't pull the car forward at all. Also check the smell of the transfer case fluid. If it smells burned then that is a bad sign. Like others said, bleed and check the attessa system. I did the plates in my transfer case which was expensive. Might be better off just swapping the whole transmission as I've seen a few for sale on the forums. Best of luck.

Have you got the spash guard that goes under the motor? I'd be interested in that. Thanks. -
Might Have To Sell My Spot Eastern Creek 28th March
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Events Archive
Just got off the phone with a member here who took the initiative to show up at the track this morning and sorted it all out. (I was so depressed I turned off my phone and went to bed at 10:30 last night). Good on ya! I'm still spewing that I didn't make the day. It would be glorious - look at the weather! Hope you fair well today bud! -
Might Have To Sell My Spot Eastern Creek 28th March
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Events Archive
So now open to all offers! My car won't be ready, the ECU is having issues so has to be sent out for repairs. Guys, make me any offer - the spot is up for grabs. First one over $150 gets it - that's almost 1/2. -
I was so looking forward to the track day at Eastern Creek this Saturday. But my GTR has developed a sputter above 5k RPM and neither I or the shop have figured it out yet (shop's been looking at it since Monday). So there is a very high chance I will have to sell my spot. I'm looking for someone who is interested in my spot and willing to be my "back-up" for the day. If my car isn't ready to go by Friday afternoon then I'll call you and Martin to confirm. My loss may be your gain. If I have to pull out, I'll sell you my spot for $200 to recoup some of the loss. Not many times you get a chance at the Creek for $200! Looks like the weather is going to work out too! Here's my number 0419 468 835 <Very Bummed - this was going to be the first outing with fully working atessa>

Sorry if this has been posted and I know a lot of you like me follow Jalopnik. But I thought this is worthy for our fabrication thread. Fabrication Fail Now I don't feel so back about some of my own fabrication work

Gtr Understeering Badly
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Thanks all. Had the 4 wheel alignment done and they said there was a ton of toe in at the front causing my issue. Must have gotten out of alignment with the work that was done. Driving today in the rain and all seems good so far. Glad it was just an alignment issue. -
Count me in for one. The Wife's MX5 needs a new batt. Thanks.

Gtr Understeering Badly
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Tyre pressures are 32 PSI all around. I've got Toyo Transas 275 35 18's all around with plenty of tread so those aren't the prob either. It could be that the car didn't have the prob before as the diff (and 4wd) wasn't working before so it would spin a back tyre before breaking the fronts loose. I just can't belive how easily the fronts break loose now. May have to investigate a better front roll bar. Thanks for the input fellas. -
Gtr Understeering Badly
Pezhead replied to Pezhead's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Ok, it's got greddy S-Tune all the way around. I lighted up the front adjustment all the way to hope to give it some more grab on the front. Lowered 1" with whiteline camber bushes and aftermarket sway bars front and rear. The sway bars aren't adjustable so they aren't whitelines, but I don't know which brand. Adjustable upper camber arms in rear. Camber at front 1.5-2 negative and rears @ 1 negative degree. In the wet this is what happens. The understeer happens entry, mid and exit. So entry if I just turn the wheel a bit too much will just slide. Mid if I accelerate will just slide. And exit will slide if I accelerate. I don't drive that hard in the dry so I cannot comment too much aside from you can still feel the understeer a lot, it just takes a bit more speed and harder acceleration so I'm sure it will be the same as on the wet. I just feels so wrong and really compromises my confidence. -
OK, I had a bunch of work done on my R33 GTR before xmas - incluing transfer case rebuilt and pan baffle. I'm sure they had to pull a bunch of the front suspension and cross member as they did the pan baffle with the motor in the car. Now, my problem is really bad understeer. In the wet the car will understeer out of a round about if I accelerate out from normal speed. In fact at speed limit speeds, if I just aggresively turn the wheel the fronts slide and slip. The car also kicks in the diff lock really agressively as even turning at 5 kph out of my driveway it will lock up the rear diff and make the car surge a bit as it turns. I've only ever driven the car in 2wd mode as the transfer was stuffed when I bought it. But it never understeered this badly. In fact I think it drove better before becasue at least it oversteered when I put the power on. I'm thinking I need to bring it in for an alignment check up as the first place to start. If that isn't the prob then I guess back to the shop for more check up (but I'm not really feeling confident as the shop has really taken me for a expensive ride so far).

White R32 GTR on Yanko rd turned and gave a wave. Hope he saw me return it in his rear view.

Have a look at the gutter and slope of the road. I put a thick board in the gutter and that gave me the 1" I needed to clear when leaving. Roads are purposely crowned to drain the water away to the gutters. For me the clearance problem was simply coming off the lip of the driveway into the gutter. That 1" drop caused the bar to drop down onto the slope of the road. I got some 2" x 12" from the lumber store and put two sections out on the road. I worked pretty well until the first big rain - I live on a hill. Since then I've changed the suspension to put the car to only 1" lower than stock. When I get on my other computer I'll show a picture of the driveway hell I went through. My driveway has a steep slope down and to keep the water at the top the previous owner created a sharp crest up then down. Everything bar my 4-runner got high centred on it. So it took a 2 weekends of kanga hammering and rebar cutting to remove the crest to a plateau. Ah, what we do for the love of our cars.

Mine doesn't have one either. It is a '95 GTR V-Spec. There's no hole in the back glass so the rear window is specific to one's that have it or don't. My car does have the same controls on the wiper control but does nothing if you turn it on (obviously).

R33 Gtr Diff Gear Change
Pezhead replied to peter_fc's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
You have to be careful about changing the ratios. I believe a stock R33 GTR has 4.11 gears. I think that the GTS4 has 4.30. My GTR ended up having rears at 4.30 and fronts at 4.11 - and that stuffed my transfer case real good. I had to change it out to get it back to stock. I had a shop do it. Rear would be relatively easy. But the front is a real bear since it is attached in the transfer case and oil pan.
