hahaha cheers......it's only a pm away

No worries BR, whenever you are ready, just let me know. Elvis - catch can is $200. Not sure of what other memebers do, I don't really copy things. I can only make the rails for 11mm or 14mm oring injectors. I may need the complete manifold since it is a NEO and I dont have any of those handy. Ariel

I can't deny that I have. Having said that though, this was all prior to me welding them which has been for the past 2 years or so. I did make some design changes as well to help sort the problem out since it has only really happened to ones I was making some 4-5 years ago. I actually offer a lifetime warranty as such to continue supporting my customer base. Why do you ask?
-
lol.....just keep your bonnet closed!!!
-
They have more problems then that, the plenum split. I just got pics.....hardly any penetration of the material. Poor material preparation, poor welding technique, not enough heat, material not cleaned before welding...the list goes on............. I will be using 6mm and most probably making 2 passes over it, finishing it off with a weave or "walking the cup" style bead. I have done it before on another LPG plenum made of 10mm...that had 3 passes over it and turned out absolutely mint.

I think the owner will sh1t his pants when he gets the replacement I put together for him
-
....a few from the weekendas promised. This is all done using straight, 100% argon.......BRING back my helium mix PLEASE!!!! My duty cycle went down the sh1tter!!! XR6 "Race Version" and last but not lease, please, please do not ever charge a cusgtomer if you weld like this. This customer has come to me for his 3rd intake manifold. The previous have both cracked and leaked!!! Isuzu G200 LPG Turbo which will incorporate "Nitrous pro-flow' burst panel
-
That can be arranged lol, I will post up the pics of the xr6 and rb30 plenum I am doing this weekend

Anyway, enough welding talk and more welding action....here are some photos of some recent work. I am doing some standard replacement parts for VL's (under a new business name, Red Star Fabrications) at the moment as well as custom made aluminium parts for the engine bay. In order of the pics, they are: - fuse box cover - power steering fluid canister - fuse box replacement catch can and surge tank - mixed bag of goodies lol I will be doing some other goodies as well. I have custom made catch can to sit inline with the bottom of the radiator, custom made intercooler with diffusers in the end tanks, replacement fuel tank, complete one-off rb26 intake manifold.......so keep an eye on this thread. This is just the beginning of new things to come Happy welding, Ariel

I think lincoln might be the way. Fronius is out of my budget and so is kemppi, but I have never heard anything bad about kemppi but the last thing is need is problems with a welder, I have in the past and it just causes massive work backlogs.....which means more pressure to get things done faster for customers.
-
I forgot to mention, that the machine I am selling is a Licoln Precision Tig 225....good for 230amps with argon, but almost 300amps with a helium mix
-
I'm looking for an inverter machine. Lincoln, Kemppi or CIG or of i find an old Miller Syncrowave 300, I will stick with a 3 phase machine, those things are the bomb!!!!!!
-
Yeah I am looking at something with frequency control!! The percentage of helium is dependent on the bottle, I chose to a pemix. You can buy them premixed from 25% to 75%, roughly. Since I rarely do stainless or mild, premix is the best way for me. I have used them on both mild and stainless without a problem what so ever.
-
I use BOC gases. Use one of their standard argon/helium mixes. Always room for more tools!!! I am thinking of getting a new welder...Does anyone want mine? It has led a very easy life, welding for may 1-2 hours per week for the last couple of years from when I bought it new.....remember, I only do this fab work on weekends and more than 80% of my time is in the preparation, welding is the fun part but it is all over too quickly. Comes with the exact setup to do everything you have seen in this thread, torch, regulator and water cooler all included. Machine retailed for $4500 alone, then add water cooler, water cooled torch, there is about $5500 worth of goodies, but I am chasing around the $3,000 mark. Note it is a 3 phase machine.
-
I have seen those setups, I just don't have the space in my place to fit much more. I tried the a new gas mixture on the weekend but ended up sending it back, my machine just didn't have the adjustability to cater for it, but dam it was cranking thru the 3mm at about only 60amps. No no chromoly, just alloy. Helium can vary from approx 25% to 80%
-
Yeah it used to be all pulsed. I am now mixing it up now. Along with some torch and gas chsnges. It is mainly done for looks because it's what people like to see. It hasn't ever threatened the structural integrity of anything I have made. It still gives plenty of good penetration.
-
yep, thats sums it up quite well
-
you will find that can only weld steel.....actually you can weld aluminium with it, but the welds dont turn out all that well for the amps the machine can pump out. they look more like a mig weld, but if steel is all you want to do, it should be fine. If you also want to do aluminium, look for a ac/dc machine.

Sick of custom plenums......well there is more coming LOL but for the time being, here are a couple of a surge tank and breather I made recently. Coming so are catch cans, surge tanks, breather tanks, overflow bottles, wiper bottles, ABS covers, airboxes and more, so keep an eye on this thread on how they all come together

Eoi: Rebuilt V45 - Nissan Quad Cam 4.5L V8
ISL33P replied to ISL33P's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
this is a v8 so physically they are sub stantially wider, but quite a bit shorter. also, they are lighter than the rb series of engines. i know they fit in r31's, 32's, 33's and at least vb-vl commodores. -
Just trying to guage any interest for this engine out there and thought this might be the most appropriate place. I sold my tubbed VL which this was going to go into, which I was planning a twin turbo installation, but time has got the better of me. So i thought I might be better used by someone else. - It is a completely rebuilt, to factory specs, new rings and bearings as well all balanced. - Also have a complete new factory Nissan (no ebay cheapy - $700+) timing chain kit. The timing chain guides are the most common problem with these engines when they are bought second hand from a jap wrecker, they are usually snapped or more than likely on their way out since they were a factory defect. - Comes with complete factory wiring harness. - Optional extra is adaptor for powerglide gearbox and also EMS 8860 Let me know if anyone is keen. Looking at offers over $2500 for complete engine and timing chain kit alone. Cheers, Ariel 0403 279 000
