Speed Sensitive Steering In R32
heller44 replied to lwboosted's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
speed sensor is built into the back of the speeo itself, the cable mechanism actuated the sensor as well. no speedo and you will have the fault. hicas computer controls the power steering solenoid as well, don't have one the other doesn't work. do a hicas diagnostic and see what is borked. james. -
Haha.. yeah. I've already found lots of places when my big old monkey hands have a very hard time fitting.

Hi, I am looking at replacing the stockers on my motor with a pair of 2860r-5's. Having never replaced any turbos before, on any car, I don't really know what else I will need to complete the operation. I realise that I will have to replace manifold-turbo and turbo-dump gaskets, but what else will need..? Manifold-head gasket? Manifold studs? Are there studs for the dumps? Intake piping gaskets? Thanks. James.

Congratulations. One question.. why didn't you buy a set of H3's that would have fit, instead of H1's..? On the switch issue, do a search, it has been covered how to repair the switch yourself.

Hit Something Now 4wd Light And Abs Light
heller44 replied to whiteboy01's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
whiteboy01, you posted here > http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=157022 .. Did you read the response? Do the diagnostics.. use what nissans engineers gave you to find the fault.. not everyone's a genius.. we're all learning.. common sense all the way.. -
coil cover.

Follow the test procedure: ets_diagnostics_extract.pdf If you don't have a multimeter, or don't know how to operate one... get someone who does.. bribe with beer.
-
Have you tried to do the hicas diagnostics since replacing the dead fuse? If you can't get into the diagnostics, you will have to start probing with a multimeter. Solenoid drive signal to steering rack, solenoid ohms, speed signal to hicas module, power to hicas module. Pick all the ones you can get with a meter, following the manual, and if you run out.. then try replacing the hicas module with one you know to work from a mates car. james. ps. you haven't got a thing on the wiring issues I'm having to sort out with this one.. rb20det AT, converted to rb26dett MT with wires deleted, twitched, taped, aaargh. good luck though.

Wires In Boot (r32 Gtr)
heller44 replied to whiteboy01's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I can't tell you straight away what the connectors dangling down are, but in your second picture, on the very edge, there is a dark circle on the module. That is where the led lives. If that helps. James. -
Used to paint ships... when I quit I had the shakes, was getting blood noses, almost constant hayfever.. And thats with decent respirator. Even sanding I had to use the full kit. Nasty stuff. That said, the paint job off the gun looks absolutely fantastic.

I might be intereste in the dumps and front pipes, depending on style.. waiting till you get pics up anyways.. not in a hurry.

The fuse under the bonnet is for the attessa motor, pulling it shouldn't kill abs. (doesn't appear to on mine anyways) The fuse under the dash is for the control unit, this kills abs cos it is also the abs module. 7yphon: dirtgarage has a group buy running for an easy to install harness to do just that.. in the group buy section. If you have to ask how, it might be better that you go that way.

Just out of curiosity, how much do shims usually cost? james.

Since you are not using the diagram you posted, but working around the switch mechanism itself, my comment isn't quite as accurate in your circumstance, because you are working inside the circuit protected by the headlight fuses, but others should still be advised to use a fuse if they are going to follow the diagram to do this. One con of doing it your way is that you will still have the volt drop of all that wiring to the headlight. Have you measured the difference between the battery voltage and the voltage at the lights? Some have seen up to 2v dropped in that run. Using relays right up front of the engine bay will increase the brightness of the headlights, which is the main reason that I have to get up off my lazy ass and get around to this as well. R32 headlights really are crap. Nice way of getting rid of the switch as an issue though. Tidy work. James.

As I posted in the other thred, make sure you use a fuse on the supply line. Don't want burnt wiring / engine fire now do we.. You'll still have to service the switch assembly, but that will only take you about 1/2 hr to do. Clean up the contacts, stretch the little springs out a bit and make sure it all goes back together correctly and you'll be fine. james.

Honestly you really didn't search.. did you. There's heaps of info on here. The short and curlies of it is, when you lock a gtr/gts4 in rear wheel drive, you are still carrying all the weight in the front end of your car.. theoretically upsetting the balance of the vehicle compared to a designed for rear drive vehicle. As well as the vehicle being proportionally heavier. So.. you can do it, but why not get rid of your car, cos you obviously just want something to thrash, and get a bunky gtst, slap a 25 into it, and go nuts. james.

Don't forget to put a fuse in the feed from the battery.

Would R34 Gtt Front Seat Fit To Any Skyline?
heller44 replied to tyaos's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I'll bite. Do you know this or are you guessing? As I have a set of 33 gtst seats in my bunky, fit like a button. Unless there is some weirdo change in the seat's makeup. James. -
What is the rolling diameter of your tyres like front to back.. ie are your front tyres new compared to the back, different brand, different size? attessa will be happier if you have the largest rolling diameter on the back. otherwise you will get surge, as it sees the rears turning faster than the fronts and thinks 'wheelspin whoopie'. vacuum sounds about right, less than I expected as well.

This is going to get cleaned and locked, so just look up in the stickies. Its a pity though.
