  1. The 6 month law is in place so that there is a minimum 25 hours of driving done (or whatever the amount is these days). They have structured this so that they expect that kids will do there 25 hours of log bog driving and then continue driving to gain further experience by doing more hours outside of the hours they have logged for driving. I agree I think the Hazard perception test is a waste of time but it's hilarious the amount of people who don't know there basic road rules. Until they find something to replace it, its seems like an ok test to have in place. So if you get fined for parking too close to a road sign (and all the other weird rules I can't remember) you can't whinge and complain because you should know the road rules. As for practical skills, what could possibly be a better way to develop your skills than spending more time driving under the supervision of a more experienced driver? Any introduction of mandatory defensive driving courses would see an outcry by the public for milking more money out of the public. As for taking down your P's, you do know that cops run checks reguarily on number plates. The information they get corresponds to the people who own the cars. So if your driving after dark in your own car with your P plates down you will get pinged. Only way to get around this is to register your car in a business or your parents name, so that it wouldnt occur as regularily
  2. Ok I might be sounding like an old man by saying this... Alright so the majority of people get there P's when they turn 17. In 6 months time, you will still be 17. What the hell do you need to be out on the roads after midnight for? It's not like your capable of going to areas that require you to be 18 years or older. If your out cruising around in your car after midnight your either doing stupid shit like drag racing or speeding in the majority of cases. There are exceptions to this for people who have a genuine reason for being out but the majority of the time its technically true. Thats my 2 cents.
  3. I had one on my car originally. Sounds like shit, way too loud for day to day driving considering the response of the stock turbo and gave me a headache at traffic lights from the leaking exhaust gas. So I took it off almost as soon as I had it. Then put on a proper split dump one sealed back into the exhaust, sounded better and was more responsive. Although tops up for doing some DIY work.
  4. Also a tip that I would suggest is to remove the bracket which holds the filter in place as well. 2x 10mm bolts that you can get to with a 1/4 drive rachet, small extension and a 10mm socket. Allows easy access to the bottom part of the filter once you've pulled the top bit off
  5. Seriously man if your having trouble removing the hoses, just get a blade and cut a slit in the hose parallel to the travel of the hose. No need to do it the full length, just do it where it connects to the hard pipe. Probably not a bad thing to replace the fuel hose anyway which wears away over time anyway and cheap as hell. Saves the removing of skin problem as well. I've replaced at least a hundred of these over the years and if spraying CRC and twisting the hose doesn't do it, I just cut it. Saves so much hassle and time.
  6. Well considering its an american built car, I'm sure the majority of them built are LHD
  7. Series II R33's require the bumper to be cut. Easy to do
  8. Was driving through freo and spotted a white R35 GTR on the docks parked just in front of a yellow corvette down at the docks. Best part about it is that there are no cars in front of it. Was there yesterday so I'm guessing it could be there today as well. When driving down Canning Hwy you will pass over the old traffic bridge and you need to turn right at the traffic lights (just before officeworks I think) and then drive down through the underpass of the train line and it should be down there on the right hand side. I tell ya they look a hell of a lot better in real life
  9. Anyone with the nissan software (free off the net) and a consult cable can reset the ecu for you.
  10. LOL that 180SX got minced... You know what someone really needs to do to one of these.... FIT A GOD DAMN EXHAUST TO THE THING!!!!! I want to listen to the non restricted growls of these beasts of a motor
  11. Also in regards to the VK56 conversion, I've seen a couple of people bash around with the VH45DE motor, which would be the motor series before the VK (which are also quad cam alloy V8's that are also a shit load cheaper to buy) in a couple of nissan platforms. The main issue with the VH45DE was the height issue, with most people resorting to cutting the bonnet open to fit it in. And also finding that a manual gearbox bell housing would have to be fabricated to fit up a manual box. I believe there is a R33 with this conversion floating around in the Naturally Aspirated section with an auto box. Think it has a blower as well. There are only two V8's that I would bother putting into a skyline and thats the 1UZFE (4.0l alloy quad cam V8) which I wouldnt bother unless there was some sort of forced induction hanging off the side of it....... or the LS1 which are a tough motor as it is, TON'S of aftermarket support like off the shelf turbo kits and have a variety of strong manual gearbox's to bolt up to it. Not to say also that replacement motors are dead cheap.
  12. That would be the Street Force R33 Skyline, that conversion was done years ago, sounds nice as though. And yeah that car above with the R34 GTR front end on it would be the twin turbo R34 coupe that is bashing around the Drift Australia circuits.
  13. Just quietly I think Adam will take out the RB20 award. I think you should give him the prize straight up
  14. Reason for needing to do that is that on RB20 turbos the wastegate line is connected to a nipple that reads vacuum from the compressor housing. Not entirely the smartest idea. While the RB25 turbos having an updated design that reads vacuum from just before the throttle body. ie. a vacuum line runs from the actuator to the intercooler piping. Some A/M intercooler piping, mainly the 20/25 type already have a vacuum line nipple installed on the piping that sits just before the factory hardpipe (which the factory BOV sits on). Anyway by far the easiest way is to drill a small hole on the intercooler piping and then buy yourself a fitting that screws into the piping which has a nipple on the end. No need for welding when there is an easier alternative. Just to be sure to use some thread tape to ensure it seals completely. Then you can run the vacuum line from the wastegate actuator to the nipple.
  15. Considering the Gallardo is almost made entirely out of carbon fibre, I have to say the GTR did a bloody good job
  16. Well technically, any aftermarket manifold is illegal as its a modification However you will normally only get into trouble on what is mounted to the that manifold. Most people from my experiences stick with the low mount manifolds on smaller, lower cost, normally interally gated turbo upgrades. Bolt on HKS and Trust turbos are good to low mount. Where people go to a high mount turbo is when the turbo becomes too small to fit in a low mount position and a gate is required. Plus it looks better in the engine bay as well. My 2 cents
  17. Ah your WA based? Which workshop do you work for? Thats top work mate!! Looks fantastic
  18. Just Jap Coolers by themselves are a universal unit, but if its the actual kit your talking about including piping, the R33 and R32 kits are basically the same
  19. Yup thats exactly what I'm looking for, cheers dude But if possible could you make his head a little bit larger, just so it stands out a bit more. If your able to that would be fantastic
  20. For compliancing factory fitted dark glass is fine Aftermarket tinting is not And yes you will have to remove the tint before it goes over the pits Cost for all the compliancing is different and depends on the RAWS workshop that is complying it. If your looking for a rough price, check out this website http://www.imports101.com.au
  21. Hey guys, I'm in the process of making a 21st present for a friend and was wondering if some of you fellow SAU photoshop experts, if you have a spare moment, could give me a quick hand in merging a mates face of mine onto the air jordan picture that I have attached also. I have no photoshop skills and can only really muck around in paint if that Basically just trying to merge his face onto the following picture with his neck showing all the way to where it touches on jordans jumper, attach some writing to the bottom of the picture and getting it framed for a 21st gift. If anyone could lend a hand, it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Scotty
  22. Havent read the whole of the thread lol but on RB20 what I have seen work well is the Trust TD-06 20g HKS 2530
