  1. Hrmmm.... I believe you need the right tools in order to balance the shaft correctly. Also sounds like a difficult job to do as well
  2. Damn 800rwhp. Will be interesting to see it. I'll make an effort to go down and introduce myself once I'm down there. Should be a good night and I hope not to break anything.
  3. Haha sounds interesting. What car is he running down there? I'll be down there in my 4 door R32 as in my avatar. Don't hessitate to come over and say hello because I'll really appreciate it
  4. I'm planning on heading down to kwinana tomorrow night for the last whoopass wednesday for the season. This will be my first time of any form of drag racing and I was wondering if anyone else is heading down there as well. Just so I can get a couple of tips from any of you heading down there as well, and someone to talk to as well. Cheers
  5. Hrmmm... interesting. I thought most of the intercooler piping kits that you can buy on the market involved the 180 degree turn on the outlet to come back behind the intercooler rather than under. Its a shame the plenum chamber on the RB motors isnt built like the SR motors which would make things a lot easier. The way I see it on my front bar the diagonal middle support bar will need to be completely cut out and removed along with the fog lights. The way i plan on doing it is by using the existing piping to the factory intercooler to join with the new piping to the inlet of the intercooler, followed by a 180 degree turn to come back behind the intercooler and back up to the factory inlet piping. Also how much cheaper is it to customise the piping yourself rather than buying a piping kit?
  6. Going off topic a bit, I was originally thought it was going to be a great idea putting a huge mofo air filter in place where the original intercooler was until I asked around and heard of a thing called hydrolocking. Basically putting your air filter in that position gives it awesome cold air intake but also makes it heavily prone and give no protection from it sucking up a whole bunch of water. So go through a nice large puddle, the air filter sucks up a lot of water and its bye bye engine due to the fact that you cant compress water and you'll end up bending your rods and destroying your motor. Theres a couple of solutions to help prevent this from occuring such as here - http://www.prepsparkplugs.com/hydrofix.htm but there is no gurantee. Probably just a better idea to make a cold air intake in the engine bay just to be safe.
  7. Not sure if this has been asked before. Basically in the near future I will be going FMIC and will be using the Type M front bar as a place to mount it. As usual it has the centre support bracket which obviously would have to be cut out. What is the largest size intercooler you can fit inside one of the Type M bars? I'm just curious to know whether a 600x300x75 would fit easily in it. Also to take into consideration is the space needed for the piping as well. Cheers
  8. If worst comes to worst saw the nut off on one end and use a pin punch and hammer to hit it through.
  9. It looks almost like it hooks in under the seat. So just yank it as hard as you can and it should come out?
  10. A compression test, tests the amount of compression the pistons are holding. For example a car with worn piston rings will leak pressure built up from the compression effect the vehicle has while the engine is turned on. Dyno tunes show hp and the lean/rich ratio of the car. I believe it shows a couple of other things other than depending on the type of dyno, but I am not entirely sure because I've never done one before.
  11. A quick question, just installing the 6x9's on my R32 four door. I've just finished mounting, cutting and installing the 6x9's on my rear parcel shelf. How has everyone run the wire from there rear speakers to the stereo? I'm trying to follow the existing wiring of the factory loom but first off im having difficulty removing the rear seats (anyone removed them before?)
  12. Nice tutorial, I needed to replace the steering rack boots on my car when I was getting it complied. The only unfortunate thing is that I couldn't find a steering rack boot to match the one coming off, so I had to bite the bullet and buy a genuine steering boot. $62 the bloody thing cost me which I was not too impressed with, wish I had checked Repco beforehand.
  13. The rocker cover you mean? No not at all just remove the parts sitting over the top of it and it comes off easy as. Just make sure you remember what goes on where when you put it back on
  14. It comes with both a connection which has a plug and play function into the consult port as well as a laptop cable which runs off the same wiring. Price still stands Bump
  15. Looking for a R33 series 1 or 2 or R34 turbo. Preferably a Perth seller but with definately consider interstate sellers.
  16. Ok considering that, how much are RB25 motors going for these days?
  17. What is involved and what are the costs involved in doing it right?
  18. A quick question, has anyone considered the RB24DET conversion over a RB25DET conversion? I've had a lot of interest in this considering how cheap RB20 motors are compared to the demand of RB25/26 motors. Any comments?
  19. So it wont bolt onto the skyline exhaust flange?
  20. My name is Scott and I'm a mechanical technican working for a Ford dealership in Wangara (NuFord). I specialise in suspension, braking and XR6 Turbo's. I work during the week and then do services/repairs on my mates cars on weekends. My job leads me where my heart lies and not by how much I get paid or plan to get paid. I spend the majority of my time researching into the different characteristics of cars, how they work, why they work and what can be changed to make them better. I'm always out trying something new and not intimidated by the difficulty of a project and other people's opinon's. Lets say I chose my career in a different manner to most people. I finished year 12 after a difficult year of TEE and had a choice to make. Go to university and do something I was good at and end up with hopefully a decent high paying job or 'supposidly' downgrade myself and get involved in the motor industry to help develop my knowledge of cars. I went against the views of other people and got involved doing an apprenticeship. At the moment it is going great, I enjoy going to work everyday and would jump at any chance possibly to get involved in the vehicle peformance industry *hinting at glen and ken from hyperdrive lol*. The point being a job is not a job if you love it. I'll come down for a car cruise one weekend (maybe this sunday) if I get the chance and introduce myself. Cheers,
  21. Nope it will only work on Nissans with a consult port which is on the factory ecu's and will work with chipped ecu's and systems with piggyback computers added on as well. I'm also willing to swap for a SAFC 2 with a cash adjustment obvioulsy or for a decent quality boost gauge.
  22. Anyone? I'm sure someone here has adjusted the handbrake on there car before whether it be skyline, cefiro or silvia...
